@@Speedyfeetuk haha thanks for sharing, wobbly indeed! Leaving the charger plugged for some time ensures that cells have absorbed all the energy they can at 4.15V, which will slow down the charge from 5A to a few milliamps (constant voltage phase) It's still less than the same as 4.2V of course. 12h is overkill tho. Have they said when they'll send you a 126V charger? I presume that the batch eWheels is supposed to get in a couple weeks would have a charger with the right voltage. So they should have some being manufactured now. A common request in the forums is to see a range test done from fully charged, which can't be done with the 124V charger.
Thanks for the review. I appreciate the real world conditions range tests. Better to test an EUC hard and know what the worst case is than ride it easy to milk the max range and end up disappointed later.
Great, compact review. I like your real world approach! 28 miles range is pretty bad, not that I expected much when I heard 2.200 Wh battery, but this really is a deal breaker for me. Not gonna lie.
Yeah its not the biggest battery in the world for sure, this is the worst range you will get if conditions are similar…normal every day riding you will get more.
I got to say, that drone's tracking and avoiding trees is pritty cool to see in action. Also this V8F from yours truly is great, that said im thinking about getting a V10 for that extra stick going up hills :P
Like that drone shot over the power lines just awesome. The wheel is holding up well. That foot plate that keeps on popping up it looks like it needs some grease to slip over like I spotted in the unboxing. It looks like rubber grommets style stoppers. I hope they sort out the rear light. We need to have a solid red and then brighter flashing red maybe. But no red light is not good. Thanks for the update. I am loving the videos and details.
Potentially daft question. I haven't looked into the range of other suspension wheels, but is it possible the wheel and battery work harder to keep it balanced when suspension means the geometry and centre of gravity are constantly changing?
From my experience on the s18, suspension has actually helped with range, at least on rough terrain that I tested. It seems the suspension allows the wheel to use less power going over obstacles. I think it's due to it compression vs lifting the entire weight of the wheel and rider over obstacles
Another fantastic review! Your mileage makes me wonder if it has the endurance for a single-track ride in the mountains. Then I remembered that I would probably gas out before it would.
I think the poor range is a combination of high speed, maybe soft suspension, and cool weather. I think the batteries being in an aluminum shell is acting as a heat sink and cooling the batteries even further as he rides fast and has the wind cooling the shell. Probably great for the summer but bad for the winter.
@@Adaephonable Well, Can't argue that but I believe with this new wheel and moving on forward, they will have the better batteries so that there will be less situations like that
Another hugely informative video. Especially the bit about the stairs lol (a big deal to me). Just curious what follow drone and controller you were using? Also average flight time you get from it? Beautiful footage. Cheers!
Wow! I remember the first time you and Johnathan went up that hill (on the Monsters I think) at 15:17, but it looked so effortless this time. And at 16:13 it looks like you are just rolling over the logs, instead of hopping like you used to do?
cracking review! heys just to be clear. you did average 50kmh and got 30miles. is that correct? thanks for checking in with KS and checking to make sure the batteries are correct and stuff. cos yeah others are reporting 60miles range. but maybe thats at a much lower speed. heys you know what would be a good video to make? since you really test it by going into the wet mud. i would love to see how you actually clean the thing? do you just wipe it down, or do you use a low pressure hose? thanks for the great quality videos and can't wait to see how the s20 progresses to 1000km.
Cheers dude, so upper 50’s (almost 60kmh most of the time as was physically possible) up to 19 miles where then it started restricting due to hitting that low battery threshold.
@@Speedyfeetuk heys cheers man! ah ic, thank you so much! wow almost 60kmh most of the time. then restriction due to battery level. super nice and thank you for really pushing it to see whats the mileage really is like when riding at its limit. and yeah 30miles does seem reasonable then. then it can't really be a cruiser at 50kmh for 60 miles like some other wheels that the long range riders like. gotta accept that its not that kind of wheel. ks has to do a balancing act to get the weight down for what kind of wheel it wanted, and as what it wants to be, the mileage is acceptable, to me at least. 35kg is a good middle weight wheel. lol wheels certainly are getting heavier and heavier for 35kg to be middle weight. thanks so much once again, and see you in the next video! :)

27ish miles range. That's real disappointing for a 2400wh pak. I remember you hit 30miles on the RS at a faster ave spd. Plus thats a nasty tiltback angle. Not impressed with the stats, for me at least. Waiting for you GW Master tests.
I'm going to assume they got a faulty unit. Most every other reviewer is getting twice that range. I'm ok with 60, but only 30 miles ill pass on the S20
Kingsong stated no issues with our batteries. More info here: electricpeople.org/post/our-s20-current-bms-stats-note-kingsong-engineer-states-there-is-no-issue-w--6210d15cd765f240026ba8fb
Hi Ian, the only one loving the shorter range is King Bruce. I know KingSong is saying the batteries are okay but I suspect they sent you a lemon. Other experienced testers like yourself are getting 60 miles of range and I regularly got 1.5x more than that on my s18. In other words I don't think the short-range has to do with you, I think it has to do with that particular wheel they sent you.
S18 lowest I got was 18-20 miles under same conditions (well it was warmer but terrain etc the same) so I have form for getting the lowest results ha ha
@@noelleonard2498 I doubt it, I will include a 40+ range video in my next one perhaps to show if you travel slow, in warmer weather and on flat ground you can get much more range.
You slide down correctly, but push the wheel upwards with the front, not the back. Press the tire against the step and stay pushing behind the wheel, push the wheel grabbing the suspension elements, it will come up by itself even when it's wet or in snow.
Everyone needs to keep in mind, as Ian says, his range tests are worst-case. Over all the years his range tests have always been dismal compared to mine for instance. So this test is very consistent with his past results.. In Southern California the S20 is looking to be exceptional in range relative to the other comparable wheels. FYI.
Absolutely, its inline with other tests more or less, the point is, due to the diligence in these tests they are importantly - CONSISTENT- in the results….low range to show a worst case example for those venturing to purchase. Things can only get better! Its a POSITIVE rather than negative 😎
I’ll jus get a knobby on the s18 :p. Can you please look at stocking one Ian? I heard there’s a tire fits nicely without modding on Japanese Amazon. TR-1, you can see in Amazon reviews. Please buy a few for the shop. Thanks.
Thanks Ian, it seems folks the S20 is a put your wheel in a car and drive to some off road trails to enjoy. This under 30 mile range of the S20 is highly disappointing. Kingsong’s stats are so far off sadly, they state it’s a 200 km wheel (@12 mph) listed on their website. Why didn’t they test the range at 6 mph! 😂 lol
Have you updated the BMS firmware? In the first video you read out the statement that said you need to update both firmwares then only showed update of the wheel not the battery. Suspect you will get better range with the BMS update if you haven't done it yet.
As per video Kingsong confirmed its all ok and fine (BMS). Thread on this here: electricpeople.org/post/our-s20-current-bms-stats-note-kingsong-engineer-states-there-is-no-issue-w--6210d15cd765f240026ba8fb
Ian were you ever successful in getting your BMS firmware updated? Your range numbers are always the lowest but I have heard three or four others reporting 50 miles+ on their range tests. For you to get a little more than half of that seems nuts.
Any idea on all their real world specs? i.e. rider weight, altitude gain and loss, tire pressure, top speed, average speed, outside temp, wind speed and terrain? Re BMS Kingsong said it was correct as it was.
Well I think its unlikely I will get less than 27 miles, I think she will be ok. 2.6v and below is the critical point, so I dont think I will see a change in range, as the weather improves maybe even an increase
the S18 has a dramatic difference in range based upon speed. At 15 mph you can get way over 40 miles, but at an average of 25mph? I've reduced the battery on my S18 from full to 10% in around 20 miles. Perhaps the S20 has similar ability, but have to wait for slower average rides from other testers to see
Shown in the video how much it tilts back. In terms of shut down, it jolted forward and shut off…and no will not be doing that ‘experience’ again to capture the moment.
@@Speedyfeetuk say your going around a berm on a BMX track. If you lean the wheel over sideways it will cut off. Some have a more lean angle than others before they cut off. I was hoping this would be able to lean over more and not shut off going around steep berms.
😂🤣😂 Looks kinda Flimsy.. I had an accident on my V12, I was turning a corner and hit and uneven patch.. caught the wobbles.. tried to work it out but had to bail.. Fully Geared Except for Wrist Guards.. 👎🏿👎🏿👎🏿 well, my V12 only got a scuff or two and I had to snap the side pad back on.. But I sprained both wrists and fractured a bone in my left hand.. needless to say I will never ride without wrist guards again. I saw Someone do a Begode Hero Video.. that seems better than the S20? Idk
The range seems a bit disappointing. I am wondering if you have had other wheels that are approximately 2200 watt hrs and if you got better or worse results? 3300w motor with 2200 Wh battery and a 200 lb man = less than 30 miles?
My range with Nikola 1800 wh = 45 km. City environment, max 63 kmh, avg 32 kmh, avg riding 40 kmh. Try to cruise 60 kmh where is possible. A lot of traffic and traffic lights. Accelerate hard.
Even if the range was twice what you got Ian, 54 miles is far too little for my liking..... like having the latest Ferrari with a 10L fuel tank... it doesn't matter how nice it is to ride/drive... not being able to go far on it is a deal breaker for me. If KS made it 100v and sacraficed some voltage for range, I think it would be a perfect wheel. Right now, it seems the S20 is a beautiful to look at, smooth riding, awesome flop....
@NW JERZ what are you trying to say? As if anyone would carry around 2x 5 Amp chargers and then sit around in a McCrap for 1,5-2 hours to charge their wheel.
I am waiting for a range test from other people. With Monster Pro you also didn't get a lot of range, while other people got more range from the Monster Pro than the Sherman.
My question is going to become boring and repetitive: are there any coil swap parts announced? Like if KS qualified a range of like 5 coils that are demonstrated to tune the performance to the rider (I'm 235lbs-ish, everything seems to have a break in or break down period with me). Hydraulic pistons are a very nice bonus...I think a good coil over shock would blow a pneumatic piston to hell on a constant basis, in such a way it was way more maintenance and cost of ownership than the hydraulic. They're also way more granular in behavior because fluids are usually far more resistant to compression and heat derating than gasses. Voltage is never going to tell you charge remaining. You have to extrapolate the sag on the fly to give a true reading - remember, with all currently shipping battery technologies, internal resistance of the battery changes with the amount of charge remaining in it and every chemistry/composition has a slightly to radically different load/discharge/performance curve.
Great video!! For pedal issues, I believe have too much dirt, take in part > clean it > put together, i think it will resolve the issues. About range issues, it seem you are not getting full charge on battery percentage/volt (94%). Here in US, few riders have much more range than yours, i wonder fully charge what is volt and percentage vs your wheel. Hopefully it is an easy fix with KS firmware update for the bms.
Ok so I'm 175lbs and I get 30 miles on my s18 and that's riding the beeps at full power the whole ride . So you're saying you're getting 27 miles at what speed?
All the stats are in the video. Also see the first video range test which also runs through the stats detailing at which point and what speed stuff happens.
Nitpicks aside, this wheel appears to be fantastic. The grippy tire isn't doing any favors for the range I suppose. The side pads needs improving - the lower side pad looks too much like high heels for my taste.
really nice video and bunch of good infos👌🏻 Mario had to use blue loctite when he install the pedals hanger...lose screw ahaead😂 the suspension euc spoiled quality of euc riding in the bad way imo.. you see what i mean when you go back riding any other non suspension euc you would not like to ride non suspension again🤣
I think you need to look into why cars are designed deliberately with "crumple zones", before demanding a bumper that is stiff solid and doesn't break.
@@Speedyfeetuk ok, but what about protecting the important and expensive components of the EUC, like the board and battery? I was providing car crumple zones as an example for why there is a valid reason for having a breakable bumper that, yes it looks cosmetically bad when it breaks, but is a cheap piece of plastic that should be easy enough to replace, compared to having to replace or repair internal components. It looks like the new replacement bumper that KS is working on, that uses a stronger type of plastic will do a good job of protecting the wheel, and do what a bumper is intended to do. but I could be wrong. oh well.
Yeah a solid one would make little to no difference, in a 50mph crash the bolts would snap which connect it prior to any other damage. The sherman approach works quite well. At the moment. That bumper is junk, might as well be glass for all the good it does. So happy they are upgrading.
I pre-ordered the S20 back last summer. The range is so disappointing that I might have to switch to a Sherman. I get over 30 miles on my Z10 and I'm over 230 lb.

Thanks for the review, regarding range I dont really know what it would be but for an 80kg rider I would expect around 40-55mins ride time, thats riding hard on roads with a road tire. Given the higher voltage and top speed I dont think you would get more. The KS20 is not a road wheel, and not a performance wheel, it was the follow up to the S18 and it has delivered. Wait I’m confused it showed 18% but kicked you off? Did you figure that part out yet? You would think you could get some more range out of this , like 28-33miles sounds better lol I’ve seen 2 other range tests, one was 26, and then someone who did overheat hill said it could probably get 60 miles but I think he’s in for a bit of a rude awakening lol, but let’s see who knows maybe that’s just a hickup, twice the battery size of the s18 and you got 27… that’s very interesting Thanks for doing the range once again mate👍 you rock man

Even if it was twice as much, I'd say it is disappointing. Let's say the range would be ~50 miles under normal riding. At 50% the riding capabilities are affected, at 20% the tilt already kicks in. So, 40 miles usable range, halfed to 20 miles (bc you'd want to get back home) and if you are heavy or live in a hilly area, even less effective range. EUC makers think they benefit by lying to us. I think it would only do them good with some honesty. Battery procentage should show zero when you can't ride it anymore. No one is helped by having it show 20% when it's actually 0%. Shouldn't be to hard for an app to display correct remaining distance either. Remaining distance should be calculated from how many wh/km or mile that you as a rider use on average. It works find in cars so it's not like anyone needs to invent the wheel (pun). As a 100+ kg rider I'm not helped by having it show 100km left when I know that it's more like 50km.
It is not as easy as that. Battery sag is a thing and with that said: it is still horrible to see such a huge discrepancy, which could have led to a worse accident in traffic
just like buying a car its tested the way they test it. nothin new. 100km left cause your not moving maybe then you move and there power drain/ volts drop. its by what your using . that changes every sec. every time you brake you charge it back up a little. how can it know how hard you will speed off or stop. you should look and volts and % . % is good on a cell phone switch uses a steady amount of power but euc can be using 100walts to 2000w or 4000w or 5000w . i use euc world and it has a average kms left on there maybe give that app a go
i would want to fall cause a dead battery not cause its trying to keep me safe. just upseting. offroading beast but it wants to be safe too. what make your mind up . put a off road button in the app that turns all b.s off. kids dont 4k euc plus tax anyways

0:41 Charging
Confirming charger only goes up to 124.33V / 124.49V instead of 126V
Cells see their end of charge at 4.14V / 4.15V instead of 4.2V, so that'll cause a loss of range and might make top-balancing difficult after a while
4:17 Tiltback
At that point the packs are indeed at the final tiltback voltage
95.17V / 95.29V is 3.17V per cell while not riding. Final titlback is usually 3.15V per cell on Kingsong wheel, and it's already pretty deep in the discharge compared to other OEMs.
Battery 2 Cell 6 is already down to 3.13V, below titlback limit
The evaluation of 17% battery reported by Kingsong app is completely bogus.
At this point the wheel should not be ridden, with a risk to damage the cells or cut-out when draining significant current at this voltage
6:53 After cutout
82.59V / 82.75V is 2.75V per cell is below what these packs should be discharged.
It's possible that the BMS disconnected the output to protect the cells, that the board could not provide the torque to keep you balanced at that low voltage.
Battery 2 Cell 6 down to 2.64V, close to the minimum voltage allowed in their datasheet: 2.5V. Would lead to permanent degradation if drained further, and must have been lower than 2.64V when ridden.
Conclusions:
● although the packs are not fully saturated at the beginning of the ride, it's hard to explain how much energy this wheel drains for such short range
● speed alarms and tiltback at low voltage are well adjusted
● for now, soft tuner must be used for battery level instead of the standard KingSong app
Question:
● does the wheel indicates battery % like the standard (wrong) or soft tuner (correct) app?
Wheel indicates wrong (IF you are referring to the screen on the top of the wheel - its matches the APP rather than ACTUAL - assuming softtuner is right - real life SOC)

Thank you for the honest review
No problem!
Potentially daft question. I haven't looked into the range of other suspension wheels, but is it possible the wheel and battery work harder to keep it balanced when suspension means the geometry and centre of gravity are constantly changing?
Yes.. probably this plays a role too... the more stiff you have the suspension the more energy the wheel saves.
From my experience on the s18, suspension has actually helped with range, at least on rough terrain that I tested. It seems the suspension allows the wheel to use less power going over obstacles. I think it's due to it compression vs lifting the entire weight of the wheel and rider over obstacles

I think the poor range is a combination of high speed, maybe soft suspension, and cool weather. I think the batteries being in an aluminum shell is acting as a heat sink and cooling the batteries even further as he rides fast and has the wind cooling the shell. Probably great for the summer but bad for the winter.
Those all likely have an effect, but the range would need to be triple what he is getting to justify this wheel. Very sad performance by KingSong.

then it can't really be a cruiser at 50kmh for 60 miles like some other wheels that the long range riders like. gotta accept that its not that kind of wheel.
ks has to do a balancing act to get the weight down for what kind of wheel it wanted, and as what it wants to be, the mileage is acceptable, to me at least. 35kg is a good middle weight wheel. lol wheels certainly are getting heavier and heavier for 35kg to be middle weight.

Is there any chance to unscrew the nut and less the tension of the spring, so the suspension will be more responsible? Can you try to do this?
I have it set for my weight and comfort, so will leave it as it is, works perfect for me.
I have a single 10amp rapid charger. Will this go through 1 port or are they not capable of taking that much?
I doubt it, but I have asked the question!
Hopefully it is an easy fix with KS firmware update for the bms.
yea I'm seeing many others get a lot more range as well... probably a lot of external factors need to be accounted for
azertube77 - correct. I would love to take their wheel and do exact same route under same conditions....and see that range fall away (most likely!!)
Yeah its a lush wheel, I look forward to that light going green and heading out…just wish the weather would improve!

Seems like somebody could pretty easily design and CNC a metal bumper piece to replace that plastic one.
nice, CNC anodised in red would be lush
I think you need to look into why cars are designed deliberately with "crumple zones", before demanding a bumper that is stiff solid and doesn't break.
Crumple zones are there to protect the occupants, not the machine. In the event of a nose impact on a euc, the rider is long gone and is on the floor.

Wait I’m confused it showed 18% but kicked you off? Did you figure that part out yet? You would think you could get some more range out of this , like 28-33miles sounds better lol
I’ve seen 2 other range tests, one was 26, and then someone who did overheat hill said it could probably get 60 miles but I think he’s in for a bit of a rude awakening lol, but let’s see who knows maybe that’s just a hickup, twice the battery size of the s18 and you got 27… that’s very interesting
Thanks for doing the range once again mate👍 you rock man
Ohhh shoot ok I noticed you talked about pushing the wheel at the very end of the video so that wasn’t just a 20km/h flat road test …. Ok 27 solid miles I’m totally down with that actually , so if you need to hit 30-35 it’s totally doable if you really needed to… ok sweeeet can’t wait to get this thing
Thanks again for the testing! Till next time!
Yeah, for sure, if riding at a ‘sensible’ speed possible to get much more (as with any wheel/electric vehicle)
@@Speedyfeetuk that’s interesting Rev rides just released a video with a 175lb rider getting 65 miles going average of 30mph in southern cali weather…. The cold must degrade the battery really hard or something because that’s a massive difference, that’s good news though I thought 30+ miles seemed a lil shy, I wonder if it was just mostly the weather, you were also riding in mud and dirt too so naturally your millage would be less but I didn’t think that much less … how fascinating
@@thefoss721 yeah mightly strange. Really hope that its not this hit and miss across the board, going to cause a lot of issues if some get one figure and others dont!
@@Speedyfeetuk yeah that difference seemed a bit bigger than I thought possible, maybe just cold weather riding is that much worse , I asked another lady who did a range test the weather for her, though you did a brutal test so riding conditions sound like a big deal if trying to get max range, the speed though didn’t seem to be a issue but yeah hope it’s not a random bug, and if so that needs to be addressed ASAP before they start production of the next batches, I’m first batch so I’m hoping for the best lol
That's an abysmal range 🙁
Oh well...
Am I gonna get called uneducated and shit on again for saying the range seems disappointingly low?
Even if it was twice as much, I'd say it is disappointing.
Let's say the range would be ~50 miles under normal riding.
At 50% the riding capabilities are affected, at 20% the tilt already kicks in. So, 40 miles usable range, halfed to 20 miles (bc you'd want to get back home) and if you are heavy or live in a hilly area, even less effective range.
Yes, DISAPPOINTED is the right term here, for a 3000 € wheel.
@@privileguan9127
To be fair, the range is literally rhe only thing I'd be bummed about. I don't remember if anyone has mentioned charging speed or not, but I might even be able to get behind it throwing a fast charger on top of the stock

Thank you! Cheers!
@@Speedyfeetuk 👍
i would want to fall cause a dead battery not cause its trying to keep me safe. just upseting. offroading beast but it wants to be safe too. what make your mind up . put a off road button in the app that turns all b.s off. kids dont 4k euc plus tax anyways
Something wrong with your wheel as per range test... in not aggressive style others could achieve about 100km....
yea less than 30 miles seems like there is something wrong.
Hmmm??! Wheel is starting to look like a real disappointment!!
Its a really good wheel, love riding it.
@@Speedyfeetuk Lol your review says otherwise though and the same with the other reviews by other popular EUC riders as well. You have a wheel that is 126 volts but has no Range whatsoever! You have a wheel that is 126 volts but can't seem to function past 35 miles per hour. You have a Wheel that is 126 volts but constantly suffers with Torque. You have a Wheel that is 3300 bucks But operates more like the S18 and in some instances the it seems like the S18 out paces this. Overall this wheel is way too expensive to be lacking like this!
@@Speedyfeetuk and then it's already cutting out for people too
My reviews dont say otherwise at all, they say its great…aside from range and seating position. Again, I love riding it, its an awesome trail munching machine. Look forward each and every time heading out on it.
@@Speedyfeetuk This review pointed out more problems than anything. I mean I guess if this is a sponsored review, I would understand not admitted that this wheel has it's issues for its prices and Voltage.
Those ankle pad's leave your feet pigeon toed.. don't like that
First!!
All the youtube content producers need to tell Kingsong, to stay in the 21st century and put a proper display in this thing. It's straight out of the 1980's; I know, I lived through it. The V12 display is great; this looks like a black and white TV from stone age. There are a lot of the exterior parts that need an overhaul, before I will buy. The range is disappointing, as well as how you have to lift it. Boo.
this wheel is sadly so inferior in so many ways to the sherman the only two things it has good suspension and troley handle i dont understand how can it cost only a few hundred $ cheaper then the sherman this wheel is a rip off kinda similar to abrams and moster pro also ripoff wheels master better be awsome from what they shown so far might be something that can beat the sherman in many ways except distance
Second!
Oh gosh that range is shit 😶
For ME it is yeah, seems to vary massively depending where you are :)
Well, so much for the hype that this was going to be a great wheel. This wheel is junk.
The wheel itself its an absolute pleasure to ride. If range is paramount- this is not the go to
Yea, at only 30 miles range might as well just stick with my 16X. Either he's got a failty wheel or everyone else is bulshitting us about a 60 mile range.
consider normalizing your audio please.
