Dave Stahl is awesome!! We should all bow before guys like this, who have been tested on the road for years and years and have nailed it night after night! There are only a few guys like this out there, and we are so lucky to have him play with this band. He probably doesn’t perform a lot anymore, but I hope he does more recordings. Thank you so much, Dave!!
I first saw Dave Stahl in 1974 with the Woody Herman Band. I went to see them after the album Young Thundering Herd came out. To this day Dave Stahl is the cleanest, most accurate lead player I have ever heard live. He sounded like Bud Brisbois at his best, but with better phrasing. It is wonderful to hear him playing like this, so many years later. By the way Gary Pack who left an earlier comment, was in that section too.
Saw Dave Stahl in a loft in NYC in 1979. I knew he killed on lead but thought wow this guy can really PLAY. Great to see him still at it. We've lost some great ones. Alan Rubin, Stan Mark and of course Maynard.
Another nausea inducing video ruining another real good performance. You guys must be getting paid by this videographer to keep him filming. ( maybe he’s the owner of the cafe?)

Gary's comment is on the other Stahl video with this band. By the way don't you love the "Four" quote at the beginning of Dave's solo.
75 years young!

What's the name of the song?
Out of Nowhere
@@DanielSmith-ee6gm Thanks for letting me know!
The song is East of the Sun and West of the Moon. The first big version of it was Tommy Dorsey with Frank Sinatra and Bunny Berigan. in 1941 I think.
