Aura Frames: Is this the BEST digital frame yet?

- Why a digital frame? How many photos do you have on your phone? I'll bet its close to 5,000 and that's awesome but WHAT do you do with them? Usually nothing, maybe post, and very very rarely go to the extreme of printing them...all to wish you actually printed another. (review starts at 1:45)

Aura makes beautiful digital frames that use smart software to automatically pair similar images, have an intuitive app and what really sets them apart is the fact you can pre-load images and even the wifi so if you are sending one as a gift, the person just plugs it in and good to go.

Once the photos have been uploaded, does the frame still need a wifi connection in order to view the photos?

Quick question, if my relative does Not have Wifi, can I preload picks and have them just use the pics I load? Or will they not be able to use it unless it's connected to wifi?

Can you use your Google photos to show up on the frame from a specific Google photos album? I have an album of pics in Google just of my daughter. I don't want all my Google photos to display, just hers.

Just received this and have loaded some pictures. I’m trying to find out how to pair photos from sale event or keep photos together by person. App is pretty straightforward but I don’t know how to group photos and how it to music.

We are pleased with our Aura Frame with the following exception: Every time the photo switches (every 15 seconds) there is a very faint audio signal (beep,beep,beep) which is almost undetectable but drives you a little nutty after a while. It took us about two months to finally troubleshoot where the annoying sound was coming from.
I have a digital frame but my photos comes out with streaks on it and it won't rotate automatically why would that be

How does the Carver Luxe compare to the Harper frame sold at Costco? Do the portrait pictures fit well side by side like this frame? Is there a Touch Bar to like photos and delete them still?
Good question. I’m not actually sure in comparisons. I dont know the Harper frame there. I do know their almond butter with seeds and it’s delicious. Hahaha. Sorry!

Does it only work via a mobile phone app or is there also the possibility to have it connected to windows or even better a NAS? I don't tend to keep all photo's on my phone and we make pictures with several mobile phones, so all gets combined on the laptop.
Hmmm. I don't think so. I know you can have multiple people on the app and they can all add the pics from their devices but not sure about connecting it otherwise.
The shuffle feature is questionable and though I shut off pairing it still does pair

Hmmmmm....wall mounted is a good question. You might need to do some digging b/c most of the frames I've seen have been similar to this one. Good luck though!!
Is there a way to make the single pictures fill the screen? They are coming out with the blurred background
On the app you can go to setting and make it black or white or blurred. So you only have those 3 options unless you crop the pic to fill the whole frame
Anyone have issues uploading photos? In the app says they are uploaded. The frame is connected to wifi and did the Bluetooth process as well but no photos on the frame still.

Please tell me that you don't have to have 2 images on the screen at a time, you can just have one, right? Also, will it always make sure every picture is up right. The old frame I have now, half the images are up right the other half are sideways.
I would like to know this as well. Just setting it up for my Mom and tried asking the chat box, but they were NOT helpful…wish you could talk with someone…PLUS they don’t change / scroll through on their own…
2 points - it’s not terribly high-resolution so you get anywhere near this thing and you can see the individual pixels. And second, there’s only one option for transition between photos, and it isn’t the one I would pick. Not being able to choose dissolve is a deal-breaker for me. It’s more of a swipe from right to left. And there is no speed ramp as it does it. It starts out at full speed. It’s not terrible, and average people with average taste will be happy with it. But it could easily be better.
This has to be connected to wifi all the time? I plan to have this at work, not sure if can connect to the work wifi
If not connected to wifi, mine eventually turned off after saying it wasn't connected. We changed the network name so it was off line.

That’s a great question. I’ve only used their app so that’s the only way I know it works.

What happens if the internet at Granny's house dies, does this stop displaying pictures since it has no internal storage?
Pretty much, yeah! Unfortunately, that seems like the case. We've had the ole "internet is being weird" so we restart the router a few times while having the frame on display and it's restarted fine and reconnected. But if the internet was out for a long time, I think it restarts to the beginning with a code just like during setup. Does that help?

Doesn't take batteries. You'd need to have it plugged in.
No sd card or usb slot? Is an account with the app required?
Great question. Yeah since it's all internet based, using the app is necessary to be able to load pics on to the frame. Does that help?

Most of my photos are on a SD card and thumb drive. How can I get those on my digital frame?
Hmmm. Might have to get them in the cloud somehow then connect that account (google photos or iphoto)? IDK. Just a thought.

I purchased an Aura Mason based on reviews like this one, and immediately returned it.
The frame has ZERO non-volatile internal storage. You can buy the frame as a gift and pre-load photos, but everything you loaded is lost when the unit is unplugged and cannot be restored without a WiFi connection. Many folks out there only use the internet on a smart phone and have no Wi-Fi available.
The frame will also turn into a useless pile of electronics if the Aura servers go offline. At this price point, they should at least include a micro SD slot for data storage.
With the addition of local storage it would be a very good device.

I don't understand. I received A link from my parents to send photos to their frame. I installed the app But how Do I send photos from my phone to their frame ? Very confusing
On the app. After signing on, I believe goes to a second screen/page to view, along with a few questions. I think the 2nd question is, do you want to send photo/photos. Tap on that bar that says Photos followed by a +. At that point, I hope it lets you select what photo you want to send? The reason I say this is because, my parents got one for Christmas from my older brother. My brother, than sent out envoys to the app. I got as far as the page I was explaining to you but stop short because one of the question was, Do you want to allow access to your photos?
I gotta figure it out because I don't want my parents having access to pictures they don't need to see. Lol

I have had one for years - It just died and apparently the cord is dead. It was hard to get a hold of them as I LOVE THIS FRAME. Finally, heard back. Cord is not longer available so they sent me a 50% coupon to get a new frame. This helped me to decide which to get. Thanks

Had that happen. I just unplug it to restart and it gets back online by itself. Pretty easy.

It does play videos, yeah. Once the video ends, it will hold an image of the last frame for as long as the preset is you have set for switching images.

The manual swipe is a deal breaker unless it also has a remote.
No remote, unfortunately but you can handle it all from your app. Pick whatever you want to be displayed, how long etc. pretty good!
Are you able to have just 1 picture per screen and not the split screen
Can I have more than one account? IE: I want to give 1 frame to one set of grandparents and a second frame to a second set of grandparents
Hmmmm. I think you'd have to set it up as an additional frame. You'd want to have both frames on the same account and I THINK you should be able to upload to both at the same time! Let me know!!!
Sorry to take this out on you but HELL NO THIS WAS NOT WORTH IT!!! The app was messed up. It only allows you to do the CR scan one time. Then if you want someone else to upload you can't get the frame to show you the CR code to link it ever again except for the one time- so your relative is not going to work. Then I tried to just hard wire it to my phone but the phone didn't see the frame as a hard drive so I couldn't move more photos to it. WTR!!! Oh, and the instructions are vague as heck!

Lol. It's called style. You can still match a hat with your outfit facing front or back as well as display a nice line up on your haircut while still wearing a hat. Just personal preference I guess

The point is, it makes people ask that exact question! Bro, different styles for different types of people. We, as humans hopefully don't believe certain articles of clothing or accessories ( hats, wallets, purses, bandanas, belts, rings), should be worn 1 way?
As for your description of what it looks like, I can't agree because I've never seen such a thing, I don't wear underwear! 😜
