Each character had tons of personality, and the interactions between characters was second to none. The fact Miroku's throw was a butt rub when facing a female opponent was insane! I wish they'd had more budget to expand on what they did, but even as it was, this is really one of the best licensed games out there.
I remember me and my best friend playing this back in the day, we were joking around at first then somehow we both picked Shippo in a mirror. Another bud of ours later told us we(me and the friend who were playing) were silent and just shimmying while poking in neutral. Later years we laughed about it and just say we had "Competitive Shippo Mirrors". So glad I had this game in my childhood. A really great title for the times.
Loved Inuyasha: Feudal Fairy Tale! My dad bought it at a game store for me when I was a kid, my cousins helped me beat it. I was a huge Inuyasha fan growing up, when it first started airing on Adult Swim I was instantly hooked. I remember even going around telling my little elementary friends about it and got them watching it. I collected manga and even had a book taken away by my teacher because of the graphic illustration he happened to see while I was reading it 😂
What a good video. I had no idea this game even existed, I only knew about Feudal Combat and that one RPG style game that you show toward the beginning, I forget the name. Despite being made by devs of King of Fighters, it's crazy to think that there was an anime tag fighter as far back as the PS1. It shouldn't be surprising to me, considering Marvel vs Capcom was also on there as well as a plethora of others. Maybe the InuYasha part is just shaking up my brain. Either way, super cool to learn about. I wish it could get a full blown digital port and/or remaster so that the tag system could be more viable. If this was more widespread I'd do my best to get as many people as I could to play it with me, it looks like a ton of fun even if it is somewhat primitive. But this genuinely looks like a super fun game, I'll be keeping an eye out for it at my local game shops. Would love to play it on my PS1 and CRT.
Man, the match dialog options are amazing. I DISTINCTLY remember as a teen making a bunch of joke ones. My favorite was this.... Miroku: Please bare my child! Sesshomaru: Ask Jaken. I kinda wish more games would have options like changing dialog.... Especially for CaCs and whatnot.
Oh absolutely. Well this game came out before the Band of Seven arc. The PS2 game, Feudal Combat has Bankotsu in the roster, but not the rest of the band members, which is unfortunate.
@Profar26 thats a shame really. They all had really good movelist potential too. Maybe someday we'll get a proper game with a large cast. They met more than enough allies and foes to make an expansive roster like the Storm and Xenoverse series. Its also highly regarded as a classic anime along with Fullmetal Alchemist so the install fanbase is already there too
I bought this game as a kid simply because it said, "Inuyasha," but it turned out to be a hit with me and my friends. I was also amused to see this video come out right after I downloaded the game for my emulator. I also thought Secret of the Cursed Mask was a great budget game, which even managed to get the English voice cast.
Good stuff, man! The only Inuyasha game I played was Feudal Combat on the PS2 and it didn't play near as well as this looks. That's also some great sprite art. Makes sense when they've got former SNK devs on the team. I never did get around to finishing the Inuyasha anime. Kinda got fatigued partway through.
I loved this game as a kid! My favorite Inuyasha character is Koga and this game is where I got my introduction. I still think about it here and there.
Damn i feel old lol my cousin jad this I played on my ps2. Inuyasha remains one of my favorite anime. One thing i always appreciated about Inuyasha over other anime from that era is that it wasn't as episodic as the other anime the story was pretty straight forward and it never lost the plot even when side stories & movies were somehow always tied to the main villain. I would really like a proper action/adventure game for Inuyasha.
I really enjoyed Inuyasha:Feudal Combat for the PS2. You get Koga and a few of the other characters missing in this one. I was surprised to see that there was a PS1. Thanks!
I always thought this was the type of game that set the foundation of good game to come in the series. It's got the basics down but seems barebones and was something of a budget title. A game that future sequels could have expanded upon with improved combat mechanics, more characters and visual upgrades from more next gen consoles.
I think it be dope to have action rpg of inuyasha that goes through the whole story, but there are so many moves that modern inu fighting game would be cool as well.
Wow, I am genuinely surprised to see someone else both remembers - and furthermore cherishes - this game... I honestly thought I was absolutely alone in that regard! I certainly didn't realize, back when I bought this game new, that it actually came from a prominent stable of seasoned fighting game designers (even if it's not necessarily their personal finest hour). I totally concur that I'd love to see a fleshed-out take on this game's base-efforts, even if I don't believe that's terribly likely.
Had one of those friends in high school who always had what seemed like insider knowledge. She had better Internet access than the rest of the friend group's families could afford, she had way more manga to contribute to our trading circles, and she often knew about series well before they got official U.S. releases. Anyway, she had this game, and we spent half the time at her house just playing it. It's the only time I ever played it, but we had a good time. Even so, the minute character details that demonstrated animators who went well above and beyond was totally lost on me. I never would have noticed all these little aspects that make the whole package more worthwhile. Kinda makes me want to track down a copy for myself...
My cousin and I played this so much. It really was a great time. I do wish they would make an updated version with the new characters from Yashahime. I think it could do really well with the correct team and love given to it.
Recently watched all of Inuyasha for the first time ever (had this anime on my waiting list for... a very very very long time among many other shows I've been meaning to get round to watching.) Had a blast watching the anime, the movies and the recent version is ok but I like the older series more. So now im looking around for youtube videos of old OG fans who grew up watching this to see what they think of various media with Inuyasha and maybe some cool hidden things that I don't know about yet including this awesome game.

The graphics and soundtrack are simply incredible. That said, even though I'm a terrible fighting player, the system seemed a little empty and the number of characters was a bit disappointing. Yet I played this game a lot when I was a kid. Good times. Btw, I hate the PS2 game, the craze for companies to delve into 3D for fighting games in the early 2000s was never something I welcomed. 2D forever! Anyway, it would be great to see a good new Inuyasha fighting game, although I think it's unlikely to happen.
Do you happen to know what I could play this game on other than ps1? I need to know if I’m gonna have to buy the ps if I wanna play this game😭 also, they made two other games for the ps2, would those only be available on the ps2?

Literally the only thing I didn't like about it was the tag battle system, which made me realize why Tekken Tag Tournament had to be on PS2. LOL Oh my lord, tag battling in this game is HORRENDOUS. It has to stop the match to allow the other fighter to load in, and it takes close to a whole minute, 😂
Never liked One Piece as a kid. A few months ago, I bought the One Piece Box #1 because I saw it at a local bookstore and I had money to spare. All I can say is that, man, I was so wrong about One Piece. I always saw it as another generic shounen fighter animu, like Naruto, but the stories in One Piece are so damn good sometimes. I hate to admit it, but Chopper's backstory made me shed manly tears, which happened to me only once before and that was with Oyasumi Punpun, which is a really depressing series in general. I grew up with early 90's anime, like Nadia - The Secret of Blue Water, and some old anime from way before I was even born. For me, anime like Lady Oscar and Nadia are so much better than the generic shounen garbage the early 2000's shat out. By the time Naruto became popular, I was already into more adult stuff, like Battle Angel Alita and 20th Century Boys and thus did not care about generic shounen fighting animu #5. Inuyasha on the other hand, I found to be quite enjoyable. Probably because of the feudal japanese setting and japanese folklore. I never cared too much about the series, but, unlike with Naruto, when friends watched episodes of Inuyasha, I found it interesting enough to put aside whatever I was doing at the time. Something I never did for Naruto, Bleach, or Full Metal Alchemist.
The Big 3 has nothing to do with anime, the term comes from the magazine they all ran in, Weekly Shonen Jump, as they were the 3 most successful manga in that magazine at the time by a large margin.

Good review man,the second opening I am is one of my favorite Inuyasha openings. I remember playing this game when I was in middle school.
From one anime veteran to another. Two of my favorite opening songs are Kimi ga Inai Mirai (The Final Act Opening) and Grip (Opening 4).

Excellently put together! This was definately one of my favorite fighting games as a kid. Playing it now the game feels archaic but its still amazing.
Also, The Band of Seven wouldve been perfect for a fighting game. Wouldve rounded out the villains side of the roster immensely

this makes 2 fighting games based off an anime/manga that was on the PS1 that are completely goated, this and JoJo Heritage for The Future
And Samurai Deeper Kyo too
