Wow - what a great demonstration of stock cabs. I'm looking forward to have my Helix back from rep. All the best!

Hey Chad, thanks so much for your honest approach to dialing in the new cabs. Are headphones the best way to hear (monitor) or would the Powercab be better if that is what you use in live performances.??
    Appreciate your videos.

Glad you enjoy the video 🙂
The best way to dial in tones is by using something that your ears are very familiar with. Due to practical circumstances over the years I've gotten very very used to using headphones. It happens when the studio room is above the bedroom and you don't want to wake everybody up at midnight lol.
So for me I've gotten very used to how my particular headphones react to certain frequency responses. The biggest thing in my situation is that I need to have the headphones at a certain volume to accurately represent the frequencies. The mistake a lot of people make when using headphones is they aren't at a high enough volume to overcome the Fletcher Munson curve effect. If you're not familiar with that term just Google it, it basically describes how our ears hear frequencies differently at different volumes.
Having said all that if you are using something like a power cab live then for sure I would recommend using that style in your tones. Again just like with the headphones if you're going to dial in your tones you need to make sure you're playing at a volume similar that you will be using in a gig situation. If you dial in tones at a lower volume when you crank them up louder they're not going to sound the same. Just has to do with the physics of how our ears and sound waves work.
So ultimately I would recommend using whatever you know you'll be playing live with, and whatever you're comfortable with.
I personally love the power cab, but often I'm simply using the monitor system of the venue I'm play at. Since PA speakers and powered monitors are typically FRFR, I feel I'm able to get a pretty good representation of what my tone is going to sound like with my headphones.
It's just something I figured out how to make work for me. I've used those particular headphones to build every preset I've ever used with helix, and they've always worked great live with no tweaking.
Having said all that I wouldn't necessarily say that headphones are the best way to do it, or that there really is a best way to do it. Again I would recommend that you use whatever method that you're going to be playing out live with.
I can't stress importantly enough that you need to tweak tones and a good volume. That's really the main thing I would recommend.

@@ChadHuskey Hey Chad, wow you went overboard with your reply and took the time to explain to me how you monitor and gave suggestions based on Helix usage. So appreciate your help, thank you.
