Hey guys, great Vlog again. My Filipino girlfriend works as a caregiver in Qatar. She’s been there on contract for two years so this coming Christmas I’m meeting her for the first time in the Philippines and she will see her family for the first time in two years physically. So I imagine the loneliness of being away from your kids and family. You have to be a strong willed person.
Just wanted to point that out as well and wanted to make the point that Filipino people are hard-working people. They work long hours when they are abroad to send money back home. Once again, thank you for a great video. Looking forward to seeing more. Greetings from Canada. 🇨🇦

Here is a true but funny story. I play a game called Second-Life and I met a girl from the Philippines. We laughed a lot told jokes yes I have seen her many times on cam and we would chat while playing Second-life. One day we was talking and i could hear a lot of noise so I said that the H is that and she said oh they are setting up a food stand by the house. Then as we were chatting she said the food smells so good and now she is hungry. I said well go eat she said I can't there is no food in the house yet she had to wait till her father got home. I said well go buy something from the food stand she said she can't she had no money. She did not ask me for a dime.
Now I am from Florida and I was drinking and it was late at night for me. We are 12 hours apart. As we was talking I could hear her belly rumble and said go get something to eat she said I can't I said ok how much is it to buy something from the food stand? She said about 150 Peso. Remember I was drinking and not thinking and I said ok fine got her info and sent her 200 from Western Union . I told her to go collect it. She got on cam and said she can't take the money I said you need to eat. She said but not this much. I said it is only 50 more and she said no 150 peso is not USD I started laughing I forgot it was in Peso.
She demanded me to give her the info to send the money back and I told her I forgot where I lived and to keep the money and go buy what she needs for the house. She told her mom while on cam and her mom cried and didn't want the money I made it clear I do not want it back. They did go shopping and when they came back they had all the food laid out and showed me everything they bought. I was very impressed and they could not stop thanking me then when the Father came home he got on cam to personally thank me . The girls dad is a Police officer. Still to this day when I think about it or tell the story about the Peso and USD I still LMMFAO. It was the best 200 I have ever spent.

Wow interesting topic. I know someone who was an OFW for many years. She was the sole supporter for a family of 6. She worked in Honk Kong then Singapore and now living in Canada. Extremely tough person. Now she's a nurse and just recently bought her own house, became a Canadian citizen and sponsored all her kids. But when she told me all the stories of the hard ship she went through it's amazing. How she did it I don't know and still was able to support her kids and still manage to buy a house. The only bad thing is this broke up her marriage because whilst away her husband took someone and abandoned the kids. Yes lots of them get abused sexually and physically especially in the middle eastern countries. Choose a good country if you want to do it.

The part about languages was interesting. Love learning different languages! I’m trying to teach my little Floridian Tagalog, Kapampangan and what little bit I know of Bisaya. I have tons of Pinoy relatives that are OFWs. Most of my relatives studied nursing or tourism. I love how the ofw’s have their own lounging space at the airports. I’ve seen that in some vlogs and Philippine news programs. Seems like they do have perks for moving abroad which is a good thing. As a half breed I’ve always felt a bit disconnected from that part of Philippine life. I’ve always felt like maybe I was missing something, especially since moving away from the islands at a young age. I always felt like I wanted to be more close to my family and relatives there but never really got a chance to. That part is heartbreaking. I guess one of the reasons why I love watching Filipino related vlogs. 🌞🫶🏼

Some or most Filipinos struggle with homesickness. Philippines is a very sociable country where the support system is deeply rooted in family, friends and community...and the lack of interaction or language barrier when you go to other countries can be a hurdle. Even when I go abroad for a short vacation, for some reason, after just a week. I'm eager to pack my bags, yearning to go back home.
    It just feels.....different.
Hoping the PH economy would prosper enough to provide jobs for all so Filipinos wouldnt have to leave. ✅
*** i also wish foreigners would also refrain from judging people from less developed countries. You know nothing about the struggles and hardships they have to endure out of love for their families.

I know two Filipinos who work as nurses for the NHS, so they earn a good wage. But due to pressure to send money home they don't enjoy life here and just live like Filipinos here in the UK. They share a room (designed for one) in a shared house and just eat rice and chicken or pork like at home (I met them shopping in Lidl). They don't drink or date as that would mean they can't send as much money home.

My GF had a horrendous time while working in HK. First of all the employer threw her brand new luggage away that she arrived with.
She had to share a room with children.
She would be working from 5am until 11pm 6 days a week.
Even on her day off she was on curfew to be home by 8pm. Then she had work to do when she got home.
She was doing domestic work but expected to be a Nanny to the kids too.
The kids would physically hit her and Parents did nothing about it.
Every room had a CCTV camera with audio so she had no privacy.
They terminated her contract 3 weeks ago for no reason. She suspects because they found out she was attending school on her day off.
When they terminated her contract they gave her a big shopping bag for her things. They did not replace her expensive luggage that they threw away.
This is the second HK employer she has had and they have both been bad employers. Both breaking the HK employment laws.
She is now back in Manila recovering from the physical and mental trauma. This time it really took it's toll on her body.

Opinion only, if Philippines makes the necessary changes and re-evaluate their pay structure to support living expenses, Filipinos wouldn’t have to go to another country. Also I believe it will lessen the squatter areas that you see all over Philippines. Suggestion you both should do a blog of what squatter areas of Philippines look like. To me that is the result of low pay and possibly no government assistance. If there is any government support it’s not enough. Squatter areas are all over the world not just in the Philippines.

I know each Country is different and to be fair most people know this. But the cost of living is also different in each Country as well. Depending on where you live in the U.S. a one bedroom apt could coast you about 2800 USD a month. Then the light bill is about 300 a month and if you need to heat that home add another 1200 or more a month just for the heat. Then the food. We all know the food cost has gone up but it is at a breaking point when you pay 12 dollars for a pound of Bacon. 4 dollars for one pound of chicken.27 dollars for a prime rib and 6 dollars for a pound of Hamburg. If one was to add up the cost to live in each state it could be from 5000 a month to 2000 a month depending on what state you live in. I live in Florida and it is not cheap and granted I don't have to heat my house I do have to use my A/C 24 hours a day every day .

Even the household helpers, the welders, caregivers, seamen, cruise ship singers --they are receiving a LOT of praises and admiration from their co-worker abroads on F/B. They are complimented for their hardwork and attitude. 🇵🇭❣️

Yes for me its a bit pressure to send money to my family coz its in our culture and feel like I’m obligated to send it every month. then I feel guilty if I can’t send money to them. It's true life abroad is not easy, in my situation i pay rent, council tax, bills etc. although we share my husband still hard though. To save money its really hard i been here 13yrs in 🇬🇧 but just like i work to lived.

If you bring a Philippine spouse to a western country can the two of you put a limit on the money you will send back to the family. In other words put conditions on where the money goes and to whom. Can you not even be obligated to send any money? What do the laws say?

Lot of respect for the workers I just visited there in my small home town in Newfoundland Canada and many are there working in fishing processing plants..I was quite surprised really how many was there..and Newfoundlands that work with them have. Lot of respect for them as hard workers the employer built houses and rooms to provide for them to stay in ..I was asked if I wanted to rent my house there to the plant employers ..

@@marilyncoish9117I am a Newfoundlander, now an expat living in the Philippines. I manage on my OAS and a reduced CPP, both taxed by CRA at 25% to support myself, my Filipina wife and our 8 year old boy, but it's tough. With other benefits in Canada such a GIS, GST rebate, and Canada Child Benefit (CCB), my income would be more than doubled, but still not nearly enough to support myself and family. I really do miss Newfoundland and my Canadian family and culture, and due to our subsistence income, I simply don't have the means to visit Canada.

I heard healthcare in the Philippines. They sucks unless you are rich, not like here in the USA or some other country. You have choice to get your insurance provider. Everybody should had one here but in the Philippines if you don’t have cash, you don’t get help us the rich people does , what I’ve heard unless you go to the public hospitals I guess but you have to go there and go on the line 1st thing in the morning like before Dawn so you can get in .that is not good.😢
