this tournament was so historic but also so wholesome and fun to watch. these guys all have great social chemistry with one another and it made for some really memorable moments like this. :)

Ang Lee is correct but Inarritu won an Oscar for Best Picture for Birdman (2014).
Inarritu is the same director for The Revenant, the same move that made history as Leonardo Di Caprio won his first Oscar for Best Actor. Innaritu also won Best Director for the same movie.

I never clicked with James' personality. But, that was total cool.
I agree, sometimes he's really funny but sometimes he's also a bit too mean. Trebek has a way of making little digs at people that are pretty hilarious, but I think James is too blunt. Gotta love them all though.
James' attitude to his fellow contestants was always generous in regular games (e.g. how he treated Emma Boettcher both in person and defending her from trolls online), but the whole point of this tournament was to have some fun with the big dogs, so he opened up. Compare it to how everyone made fun of Buzzy on the previous team tournament of all-time champions.
And now he truly is the Jeopardy! ghost. In our hearts forever.

Alex Trbek was the very last wholesome human being on television. You are greatly misses. I am proud, very proud to say that I grew into adulthood with Alex Trbek on my TV set every day. Alex is as much responsible for my knowledge as my teachers (although 40% of it is rather "useless" information). Rest sound and peacefully, Alex.
After years not viewing Jeopardy, I have to admit when my daughter told me to turn it on because of “this really smart guy” (James) winning so many times, I started watching it again. I love James’ quickness and wit ... and I swear I’m smarter watching him through osmosis! ❤️ We are James fans! G.O.J.T. Greatest of Jeopardy Times. 🙌 all in!

I have watched jeopardy since I was a young teen, when I was at my grandmas. He was my hero. A true Canadian with a kindness to him, that to me made him one of the best.
It is still weird not to see him. Those who host now are terrific. My favorite is Ken Jennings. He had a very personal connection with Alex, during his long run and now part of jeopard.
Keep this program going for many years to come

I’m pretty sure they only use this version for the GOAT games! So don’t worry, the regular games will still have the old theme :)
Yeah they only used a different version for this tournament, I think it's because it was hosted on ABC and not on FOX. Disney might own the rights to the show now, but they don't apparently own the rights to that specific piece of music if I remember correctly. The composer still owns it, I think.
