With the necronomicon crossover. You limit it to Deadite. It's a book of dark arts. It could bring Jason back from the dead. It doesn't mean he'd be a deadite or posessed. That's just one thing from the book, honestly just one passage. So she could have found a passage to bring the right soul back. And that would partly explain why he can't die die. Because his soul is bound to his physical form. And the lighting just gave him control over his body once again. And in Goes to Hell his body is obliterated and but his soul is bound to this realm regardless and won't move on due to whatever passage his mom found in THE BOOK OF THE DEAD
I stumbled across this channel a few days ago when the Nightmare on Elm Street retrospective was recommended to me and I've been hooked on all of these ever since. such a good dive through everything, your humor is great and it's not just a brief overview of things but a long video which I've been more and more of a fan of lately. I thought Jason drowned to death, never thought he survived drowning ? Just thought he was awakened from death by his mom's death, and then physically rapidly matured to seek his revenge. Edit: you know what, I actually like your interpretation more
My theory is that he actually DID drown, and that Jason is actually a deadite, and that Pamela is the reasoning behind that. It's why the Necromomicon was in the old Voorhees house in Jason Goes to Hell
It depends on the movie. These flicks were made on low budgets these were B films that kept returning huge profit because they cost so little. Paramount studios who released them never cared how cohesive the films came together because they were made fast and loose. In the first movie Jason is dead the little Jason at the end was intended to be a dream sequence. But because the ending scared audiences so good the studio demanded Jason be the killer in part 2. The director of Part 2 still wanted to keep the series grounded somewhat at the time so he came up with the idea that Jason survived his drowning and grew up in the woods as a psychotic hermit missing his mom. The more sequels that were made is the more the continuity was altered with each new film in order to justify more sequels. Starting from part 6 the movies start saying Jason did die from drowning and has always been undead and is like a curse on the camp area. The later sequels make Jason more supernatural in order to justify him returning again and again and also to make the plots more theatrical to compete with the Freddy movies in the 80s that were popular at the time. The Friday the 13th continuity changes and alters itself depending on who's directing which sequel. Jason Goes to Hell tried to tie up the plot holes by hinting that Jason after drowning was resurrected by the Book of the dead from the Evil Dead films. But by that point the series had never attempted to create any real mythology for Jason so it came mostly out of nowhere. The 2009 Reboot implies that Jason is human in the movie and that he probably survived his drowning and grew up in the woods similar to what Part 2 implies. However since neither film really says out right how the Fuck Jason actually returns and because different films say different stuff the official answer on if Jason was always dead or not since Part 2 is really whatever your own individual interpretation tells you or what you prefer. I always preferred the idea that Jason was always undead and that he was like a curse on the area which is what Part 7 implies. To me I prefer this idea and think it flows the most logically with the series. The idea that Jason is basically a vengeance curse on the Lake area is what works the best for me. Though I don't mind the idea in Part 9 that Jason was brought back to life by his mother using the book of the dead. I'm an Evil Dead Fan so this concept never bothered me.
Much like how Freddy says “Every city has an Elm Street”, which makes it reachable and relatable no matter where you are, so to is there both a Halloween every year and Friday the 13th(s) sprinkled sporadically throughout every year. It keeps our main 3 horror stars forefront in our minds. Love this retrospective! May it live on forever much like the horror genre itself. Yearly epic rewatch. 🤘😎😈👻🎃
I truly think a Friday the 13th movie could be so successful right now. With how they portrayed Michael Myers as an unstoppable unkillable force of nature in the 2018 movie, an over the top hulking mass of pure murderous intent that is Jason would be so fun to watch. I think the real thing holding it back is that there is no Jamie lee Curtis character you could bring back
Yeah this pisses me off. Like why does a movie that should be standalone get a reboot but a series that works really well as a series not get anything?
It's pretty damn cool this fell right on Friday the 13th itself and it's Spooktober or Witchmas or the time you hear chichichi hahaha right before kinky time lul
Seven is my favorite to be honest. Just having someone be able to go toe to toe with Jason in a somewhat believable way. Jason is so physically imposing and strong it's almost needed for him to have a supernatural opponent.
People always look at me weirdly when I say F13 was a huge part of my childhood but it’s true. Seeing this in my feed I was like a kid again. Also perfect timing uploading this on a Friday the 13th. Idk how you’ve pumped out such big projects in such a short span of time Ryan, you’ve gotta be exhausted
I totally get what you mean. When I was a kid, I would ride my bike to a local video store in my hometown during the summer, rent one of the Friday movies, and then ride my bike home and try and sneak the tape into the house without my mom catching me. I saw all of the (at that point) nine movies that way, though not necessarily in order. Also, all the tits in these movies were the best thing in the world for a 12-year old in the pre-internet days.
Just found your channel for the first time. 6 hours of Friday the 13th retrospective and you also have equally long Halloween and Elmstreet videos? Already subbed and from what I've watched, it's really great.
Watching this makes me feel grateful ima 80s baby. The 90s, up to early 2000s was so lit. I only got one regret in life that is I couldn't live in that Era twice. ❤80s,90s,up to 2010, I miss you
there's 100000000000000000000000000000% NO way you don't see my comment please cover some Stephen King movies or possibly the uni bc there are videos but most of them are 10-20 minutes long and aren't really funny you mix comedy well in your vids which is why we love you man
I was genuinely excited to see a near 7 hour RUclips video about a daft slasher series. I think that speaks to your enthusiasm and overall quality that is evident in each of these retrospectives. Good job. 👍
I've been binging these and I really like them, they're great. A little constructive criticism, I think part of the reason myself and others take issue with the way you talk about the women in these things isn't in how you describe them, but in how you don't. After nearly 7 hours I don't think you name drop any of the actresses whose bodies you're enjoying and commenting on, and it feels a little weird. I know there isn't much depth to these random kill count characters, but I think you have a pattern of describing the men in terms of "archetype, actions they take" whereas the women get "archetype sometimes, boob rating". I don't mean any of this in a demeaning way and you don't come across as ill intentioned, just commenting on a pattern I noticed. Keep up the good work, you make good videos.
I don't think Paul and Ginny bang in part 2. The following morning Ginny sees that Paul left a message on her mirror saying "Beware of bears." He mentioned in a previous scene that the ladies should keep clean if they're menstruating because it could attract bears. So I always thought the insinuation was they didn't sleep together because she was on her period.
Wow! I did not know until this moment that I needed this incredible timeline explanation in my life! Stayed up until 6am watching this, and it was the first thing I started watching today to finish it! Thank god I work shift work😂 thanks for all the hard work you put into these❤much appreciated
They ought to have explored the curse of Crystal Lake more. My theory is that if you have vengeance in your heart, the curse will promptly drive you to murderous rage. Also, Roy rules and A New Beginning is the best.
I just love that this video is picking up some steam Ryan's channel is way underrated, the man puts in so much effort and, if you watch his livestreams, you'll also know he is a really kind human being. Facts!
I've had this idea recently for a Friday prequel film about the summer when Jason first drowned, and his mom's slow descent into madness as a result. It would end with Mrs. Voorhees dying, and then have it as a twist ending stinger that Jason was actually alive the whole time, and saw his mom get killed from the shadows, kinda like the prologue of the remake.
Hope you make a Evil Dead Part 2 Video, including more about Rise, Ash vs Evil Dead, My Name Is Bruce, The Creepshow Episode about Evil Dead (W/Ted Raimi in it.) and Drag Me To Hell! Cabin in The Woods and Equinox (1970) deserves a mention too!!! It would make a great part 2
Jason Teleportation; As much as I hate to give any credit to MatPat, I will give his Friday the 13th video credit. He analyzed the footage, and makes a compelling argument that Jason COULD get around without teleporting.
This is the first video of yours I've watched! I'd love to see you do a Texas Chainsaw retrospective! Leatherface is my all time favorite slasher and TCM is the only one of my top 3 you haven't covered yet!! (I'm about to go watch the Evil Dead and NOES videos now which are my 2nd and 3rd favorite! If its got demons and/or chainsaws, I am so there) Especially bc you said you haven't watched some of them yet!! I'm a Texas Chainsaw Massacre Turbo-nerd (it's the autism, it compels me to know Everything about horror movies and i have to feed it multiple hour long video essays and retrospectives or i fall victim to Boredom) -- I could go on for hours and hours about the first movie alone, from behind the scenes information to themes and character analysis, and I've made my friends suffer through a lot of my insane Pepe Silvia level TCM rants. The first one is an absolute classic and I absolutely adore the energy and tone of the 1986 sequel, they'd take my S rank spots for sure. Can't wait to see more from you dude!!!
I love part 8 . Might be one of my top 3 . I’ve always loved the New York setting in movies . And I love 80s movies . When you combine New York and the 80s. I’m there . Plus it’s got “ The Darkest Side of the Night “ . Which is a fucking amazing song that I still listen to all the time .
I watched Friday the 13th and Halloween in my early teens i believe these two horror movies 🎥 are the best i still watch them both in 2023 nothing compares to them Cheers Stephen 🤠⭐🦅🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃🎃👻👻👻👻👻👻👻👻
I always have to leave you really long comments because I get a lot of thoughts in 6 and a half hours. A. Never apologize for calling Frankenstein's monster Frankenstein. For the monster is Victor's only son--what name should he take but his father's? B. In all of your retrospectives you get hung up on dumb continuity errors that have obvious explanations. To be clear: this is a part of the charm of your channel and not an insult. This time, as it has been before, it's the dates again. The simply explanation is that in the Friday the 13th universe, years are all 368 days long and somehow this means every June and October have a Friday the 13th. C. I'm sure you are looking forward to RELAXING when you get to the Chucky timeline board D. Does anyone else think that Jason is somehow Mike Ehrmantrout. I can't explain it but my wife gets it E. let me put all your concerns with _Jason Goes To Hell_ to rest. Tommy Jarvis is a secret Vorhees. Mrs. Jarvis and Mr. Jarvis are separated in part 4. Neither will ever tell Tommy but it's because of the infidelity. Elias Vorhees is his father. Verily, Tommy is a kinslayer. Therefore JGTH is simply pointing out a rule that's been in play the whole time: Only a Vorhees can kill Jason. Only a Vorhees can resurrect him. As far as the heart eating compulsion--that's a power he gains later, post-resurrection--when he's made into a deadite. This happened off-screen, and possibly just before the events of JGTH. Remember--deadites don't have to be made out of dead people. They can be made from the living. Even the already undead. How did the book get to Crystal lake if we know it's where-about at the time: Time travel. The book would later time travel to crystal lake. Also the spell Pam did , that time traveled. Didn't effect Jason until way into the future. F. Freddy Vs. Jason really is a dream movie. Can't believe we actually got it. G. dude when are we getting the 30 hour long godzilla retrospecitve?
I admire the blood sweat and tears you put in these. We have a difference in age therefore different chapters mean different things to us. Chapter 3 and 5 I like a lot more than you but I’m in the minority. I admire the wtf of Jason X but it’s not a good movie, lol. And I think the reboot is garbage. Freddy vs Jason is overrated but I do enjoy it when they actually get down to scrapping. I have a fondness for all the paramount product but 7 and 8 are on the downward spiral. I love his look under the mask in 7 as well though.
I got into this video, then saw the run time and went, 😳 But after 2hrs I’m realizing 6.5hrs might not be enough! VERY enjoyable. This guy is hilarious. As to some of the Jason Goes to Hell lore not mixing with Jason being killed and brought back by Tommy, there is a pretty simple explanation….. the Voorhies and Jarvis’s must be related Gasp!
COULD'NT HAVE BEEN A HUMAN IN 3 ONWARD CUZ FOR 1 IF HE WAS HE WOULD'NT HAVE SURVIVED BEING HUNG NOR AN AX IN THE HEAD PLUS THE SUPER HUMAN STRENGTH TO CRUSH A SKULL WITH EASE LIKE HE DOES IN BOTH 3 & 4.. ALSO IMO I CONSIDER JASON A DEADITE & ITS THE ONLY THING THAT MAKES SENSE ESP SEEING AS THE NECRONOMICON WAS SEEN IN JGTH.. TELL SOMETHING BETTER THAT MAKES SENSE I'LL WAIT..
My favorite horror franchise. Part IV: The Final Chapter is my favorite film in the franchise, and while there are some weaker installments as the franchise goes on, there are enough entertaining things to happen in the films that I’m able to enjoy them all. Seeing the reboot in the theater in 2009 was amazing and then seeing the original on the big screen for its 40th anniversary 3 years ago was great too. I love these films and I hope to see more of them in the future. Thanks for the amazing retrospective Ryan, take care!
I want more of these videos. I like how informative they are but it also just feels like a conversation with a buddy. Hanging out with snacks and a drink for several hours and talking horror. Great stuff, man. I look forward to the future for you.
here is a good explaination of Jason from 6 onward. Revenants are obsessed, undead stalkers who arise from their own murders and are driven by only one thing: revenge against their killers. The common wisdom is that revenants arise only from individuals who have been utterly betrayed or abandoned to die a grueling death, but even then such victims might not rise from their graves. In other cases, revenants might even rise from what might legitimately be considered an accident if the revenant doesn't understand the full circumstances of their demise. In such cases, it doesn't matter that the “murderer” may not have intended to kill, for revenants understands no pity and can never forgive.
There is another fan film called Never Hike in the Snow is a prequel to Never Hike Alone and Never Hike Alone 2 connects all of it together they also bring back Deputy Rick from part 6 who is now the sheriff as well as Tommy
ALSO JASON NEVER DIED AT THE END OF 4 OR THE OTHERS HE WOULD JUST GO INTO A REST MODE SORTA & ITS NOT REVIVED ITS REBORN IN A VORHEES HE WAS BORN THROUGH A VORHEES MAY HE BE REBORN & ONLY BY THE HAND OF A VORHEES WILL HE DIE..

To be closer to it, Jason is a "revenant". A restless, angry spirit that re-inhabits the body it had in order to satisfy some sense of offense.

Jason is so physically imposing and strong it's almost needed for him to have a supernatural opponent.
Part 7 is also my favorite. Tina was awesome!
The perfect compilation for the perfect day in the perfect month. It's fate!
It is finally here, these retrospectives have quickly become my favorite videos of yours.
So stoked!! I was unintentionally preparing for this. Just gotta get through the latter New Line movies 🔪
6 hours? Man! Thanks for the effort.
Watching the retrospective feels like a fresh new adventure.
Last time I was this early it caused a divorce.
Last time I was this late I gave birth
Soon, soon...
Dropping a normal comment to up this video. Love these retrospectives even if I have never watched a slasher movie other than Halloween 😂
Appreciate it! 🎃
Dang bro this is long

Happy Friday the Thirteenth! Thanks for the great content!
Peak
24 hours of horror retrospectives? Yes please!! Great work as always and keep 'em comin
I’m so happy that we got the big 3 slashers but now I’m trying to think what you could do next maybe Chucky or Psycho.
Chucky will happen (soonish)
Just found your channel for the first time. 6 hours of Friday the 13th retrospective and you also have equally long Halloween and Elmstreet videos? Already subbed and from what I've watched, it's really great.
First day of my week off and Ryan drops another retrospective, my man has impeccable timing
😎
Suck em off the. Lol
Watching this makes me feel grateful ima 80s baby. The 90s, up to early 2000s was so lit. I only got one regret in life that is I couldn't live in that Era twice. ❤80s,90s,up to 2010, I miss you
there's 100000000000000000000000000000% NO way you don't see my comment please cover some Stephen King movies or possibly the uni bc there are videos but most of them are 10-20 minutes long and aren't really funny you mix comedy well in your vids which is why we love you man
Can’t wait, we’re nearly there!!
Oh, yes! I am so excited for this!!!!
The Jason Goes To Hell part was my favorite part from this retrospective🤣 Great retrospective.👍
Thanks for making this video! 🔥🙌🏾
Thanks for watching! 🎃
You spoil us Ryan 🎃🍂
Trying to! 🎃
Let’s go baby
Will be in and out of the chat watching it but will definitely watch the whole thing this weekend!
Appreciate it! 🙏
I was genuinely excited to see a near 7 hour RUclips video about a daft slasher series. I think that speaks to your enthusiasm and overall quality that is evident in each of these retrospectives. Good job. 👍
its gonna be a good 6 hours
Wonderful as always. Best horror franchise retrospectives on RUclips, please keep them coming!
I don't think Paul and Ginny bang in part 2.
The following morning Ginny sees that Paul left a message on her mirror saying "Beware of bears." He mentioned in a previous scene that the ladies should keep clean if they're menstruating because it could attract bears.
So I always thought the insinuation was they didn't sleep together because she was on her period.
wow 6 hour of pure dedication, ryan your the goat
This man is a Legend! These retrospectives are a true gift 🎁 to the masses! Thank you Sir! 🙏
It’s 4 am I woke up to go to work. In the office alone today and I open up RUclips and this popped up… literally made my week. Thank you
I just love that this video is picking up some steam
Ryan's channel is way underrated, the man puts in so much effort and, if you watch his livestreams, you'll also know he is a really kind human being. Facts!
I agree 100 percent!
I’ve been waiting on this since The Nightmare On Elm Street Retrospect, Just in time for Halloween! I’m going to enjoy this fully!!
5:37:59 It's so sad that we don't get movies like this anymore. Everything had to be so politicized and "the message."
Jason doesn't kill children in his mind they are innocent
As innocent as the kids who drowned him?
@@joker-sh5hv it's mostly the camp counselors they were too busy banging to watch him
This was excellent. Perfect background video for my long Minecraft sessions.
Read my comment bro. We should team up to write a book for the hardcore OG fans of the original 4 films.
Happy Friday the 13th!
It would make a great part 2
thanks for the journey man really appreciate everything u did
If you will make a Chucky retrospective, I'll be so happy to watch it
Jason Teleportation;
As much as I hate to give any credit to MatPat, I will give his Friday the 13th video credit. He analyzed the footage, and makes a compelling argument that Jason COULD get around without teleporting.
FINALLY just finished the video! The sheer work and dedication you put into these is phenomenal as always!
(very original comment i know)
Thank you! 👊
New to Your Channel, Really Loved ❤ Your Nightmare on Elm Street Retrospective, Had to come check out the Friday the 13th video!!! 😊
C. I'm sure you are looking forward to RELAXING when you get to the Chucky timeline board
D. Does anyone else think that Jason is somehow Mike Ehrmantrout. I can't explain it but my wife gets it
E. let me put all your concerns with _Jason Goes To Hell_ to rest.
Keep it up Ryan! I love watching you and this channel grow ❤️
Thank you man! 🙏🎃
Oh I really like the all of the friday the 13th best movie it really very good part 1-14)sincerely bob Jr reddin 12-27-2023
58:52 So Jason Voorhees in these first two movies is basically what would happen if Guts embraced the Beast of Darkness?
awesome. after 5 hours of watching, there's still the full runtime of a feature film to go. ;-)
In the first movie, Pamela says, "His name was Jason, and today is his birthday, " so maybe that makes the 13th relevant to the movies?
Love the retrospectives! You should honestly be the documentaries they put in the bonus features on the movie discs!
Thank you! 🙏
I also got into slasher and horror flicks through renting videos, R.I.P Family Video.
I want more of these videos. I like how informative they are but it also just feels like a conversation with a buddy. Hanging out with snacks and a drink for several hours and talking horror. Great stuff, man. I look forward to the future for you.
That’s the intent! Thank you for watching! 🙏
here is a good explaination of Jason from 6 onward.
High effort content is entertaining as hell!
3:09:42 Yes we really appreciate all the time you put into these videos Ryan, they’re great.
Thank you bro!!! ❤️🎃
