Brilliant mate! It is definitely competition quality, but I think the average war gamer wants to push out as many troops as possible & it takes a lot of work as well as time to reach this level.
It's a wonder that someone hasn't already said this in the comments, so I guess it's up to me to start it. He was just a rookie trooper and he surely shook with friiiiiight
Super video! I decided to change step 2 highlighting with Combat Fatigues to drybrushing with the same colour, I have 24 to paint so needed to speed up the process a bit!!
you have realy helped with the detail you provide in the mixing and layering.. i would prefer a little "less green" for my airborne and you have helped immensely in providing the appropriate info for choosing a suitable scheme
In this video, he only used one brush. Well, that's what he said...and that brush is the Army Painter Regiment Brush (white brush w/triangular handle).
Love the painting guide, just curious about how would you yourself would go about doing the uniforms for the US Airborne of D-Day Drop especially with all the brown/khaki/tan variations
You could follow the steps that I did for my Winter Soviets in one of my old videos:ruclips.net/video/6hQK9hxknzQ/видео.html But maybe swap out the brown ink washes over the clothing for the Military Shader ink.
Yep that's correct. Those minis are wearing the M43 Uniform that was issued post D-Day which was often in the colour green used in this video. The M42 Uniform which was often khaki (the one with knee and elbow pads) was used during the D-Day landings.
I didn't see you paint the rifle sling, I think you used the same colors as for the backpack and other webgear from the looks. I'm curious if these straps were of fabric or actually leather.
So you use a spray gun for the initial primer coat, do you also do that for the matte varnish at the end? Also, do you put the varnish on before or after any insignia?
Nice tutorial! I was wondering if you know what the colours you are using would be if you used Citadel paints instead? I have only got Citadel and I can't afford to buy new paints. I just don't which paints to use, to be able to follow this tutorial... Sorry for bad English :)
Hey! I’ve seen several videos from your channel and I realized that you don’t prime the miniatures. Am I wrong? I was always told that priming is the first thing we have to do. Thanks!
If you watch this video again Pete says he primed the miniature in the opening minute. I think what your seeing is Pete doesn't film the priming of his models he just jumps right into the base coating and goes from there.
Love your Videos, Thanks. I have a question, could I replace your mid brown wash on your backpack with the same light tone shade I'm using on the boots to get a similar effect? Just looking reduce the number of paints I have to purchase. thanks
When it comes to shades of browns on WW2 miniatures I wouldn't worry about being too precise. There was so much variation in uniform colour between manufacturers even before you consider discoloration and dirt. However I would recommend using Mid Brown on both rather than Light Tone otherwise your webbing will look quite red/brown.
The base? Yes the plastic discs come with the set but you need to add the soil/grass yourself. Here is a tutorial you might find helpful: ruclips.net/video/zYIQi-M0es0/видео.html
+Kevin Gilligan a couple of reasons, first of all it gives you much better control of the paint which is especially useful for highlights. Secondly, thinning paints will give you a much smoother finish that won't obscure details on the minature.
yes,it will make your work a lot easier in most minis. and also u can paint in parts, for example first all the weapons u are going to use,the hands etc etc. i do it and it helps me a lot .in that way u can reach more difficult areas with your brush without the fear of painting an other part u dont want.Just to put wash over the mini, assemble it first ,and then apply the wash. and after some highlighting if u want and u are done.
Despite this guys advice you should not paint on sprue because you can create problems for yourself during assembly and are forced into using the generic poses.

More Bolt Action is in the pipeline, might be a few more weeks but I'll get there!
Brilliant mate! It is definitely competition quality, but I think the average war gamer wants to push out as many troops as possible & it takes a lot of work as well as time to reach this level.

He checked off his equipment and made sure his pack was tight!
Super video! I decided to change step 2 highlighting with Combat Fatigues to drybrushing with the same colour, I have 24 to paint so needed to speed up the process a bit!!
Great tip!
you have realy helped with the detail you provide in the mixing and layering.. i would prefer a little "less green" for my airborne and you have helped immensely in providing the appropriate info for choosing a suitable scheme

Beautiful figure , thank you for the tutorial.
Do you think you could do how to paint u.s marines?
I'm looking forward to getting some for Christmas but, it's so cool to watch, I Subscribed!
Good stuff, thank you. Could you elaborate on the brushes you are using?
In this video, he only used one brush. Well, that's what he said...and that brush is the Army Painter Regiment Brush (white brush w/triangular handle).

Can u perhaps upload a German grenadier painting guide?
The first step- venom wyrm… do you do one coat or two before highlighting?
Great video! Did you have the recipes for vallejo paint? Thanks
Unfortunately I don't use Vallejo paints but I'm sure there are some conversion charts somewhere out there :)
A damn fine example of miniature painting.
Thank you very much :)
Que marca de pintura usaste? Quedaron súper bien las figuras
Why do you apply the highlights before the wash sometimes?
Thanks for the great video. Would this be the correct colour scheme for the market garden era airbourne in the band of brothers starter set?
Yep that's correct. Those minis are wearing the M43 Uniform that was issued post D-Day which was often in the colour green used in this video. The M42 Uniform which was often khaki (the one with knee and elbow pads) was used during the D-Day landings.
The War Gamer thank you
the wargamer regiment brush. is it equivalent to say a size 1 brush or 0. like your tutorials great videos to watch
Just ordered the paints, I'll be back in a month to try and replicate your work
Wonderful, thanks for this!
Hi, where do you get the transfers? Thanks
I'm very new to bolt action and would love to get some advice for 500 points starter armies for both US and German grenadier armies
I didn't see you paint the rifle sling, I think you used the same colors as for the backpack and other webgear from the looks. I'm curious if these straps were of fabric or actually leather.
Yep, so the Garand did make use of a leather sling but from 1943 a khaki sling was also issued and became increasingly common over time.
How did you get the eagle and American flag on the miniature? Great vids by the way
Can you do British paratroopers
please do a painting guide for the new thousand sons rubic marines once they get released in 2-3weeks :D
+codycas1994 I just might have already being planning too ;)
sweet, il be looking foward for it :D
So you use a spray gun for the initial primer coat, do you also do that for the matte varnish at the end? Also, do you put the varnish on before or after any insignia?
learning a lot thanks

I have only got Citadel and I can't afford to buy new paints. I just don't which paints to use, to be able to follow this tutorial...
Sorry for bad English :)
Could you have used one of the Army Painter Paint and Primer in one for the primed coat?
He did. He used the Army Painter Spray Primer in Uniform Grey. It's a 100% match for the AP paint Uniform Grey.
Did you paint the 101st Airborne and USA Flag badges by yourself, or are those sticks?
Great tutorial! What varnish do you use?
This was great, thanks
Fantastic tutorial
Where do you find these paints. I never heard of them?
Can you use these as US
Airborne during the pacific campaigns?
Do you have any helpful tips for painting black people?
Sure thing: ruclips.net/video/bPAI2-9nTbo/видео.htmlm8s
thanks man
That US flag at the trooper's sleeve is it a transfer or did you paint it on? Thanks
It's a transfer from the Airborne kit.
Have you used some spray before starting to paint, or have you directly started on the virgin plastic miniature?
At the beginning of the video, he says he has primed the model.
Hey!

great job

Hello friend does that “disk” you put the figure comes with the starter kit? The ones that have some grass
The base? Yes the plastic discs come with the set but you need to add the soil/grass yourself. Here is a tutorial you might find helpful: ruclips.net/video/zYIQi-M0es0/видео.html
can I ask......I always use choas black undercoat but you don't seem to use any. unless I'm missing something and you're using a grey undercoat?
easier to use lighter paints, you'd need more coats for a black undercoat
I've never painted with army painter paints before. I'm about to paint my US infantry. How and why do you dilute the paints?
+Kevin Gilligan a couple of reasons, first of all it gives you much better control of the paint which is especially useful for highlights. Secondly, thinning paints will give you a much smoother finish that won't obscure details on the minature.
Would it be advisable to paint the figures while on the spruce? Thanks.
Ish

These guys are fun to paint. I don't play the game though.
great tutorial! I don't suppose you could suggest the games workshop paint equivalents?
My eight year old wants me to relay to you that he thinks your videos are really and you should keep doing more.
What range of paints is he using? Vallejo?
jjdelangel I mention at around 00:14 that I'm using the Army Painter range
where did you get the transfers?
They come with the US Paratrooper kit
Bravo
Do you have a paint list I can copy?
who can dislike this...
You'd be surprised :(
I like this painting guide because you are not using GW products
wait...did you re upload this because you goofed on your edit? bruh, I don't think any one would have minded haha.
yeah. I commented on the last video so maybe he decided to change to editing.
Yeh I did, it would of bugged me if I hadn't :P
