    This was a good lecture. Thank you.
    So matter has no reason to evolve towards any teleological end. True it is that a mass of particles will gravitate towards some state, when acted upon by certain impersonal (non-conscious) forces; or, will remain in the same state if not disturbed in any manner. But these are mere states and such changes in particle configuration are incapable of imitating the tremendous creative power inherent in _conscious intervention_ . Teleology would imply a degree of organization of matter that goes far beyond the mere state change mentioned above. It would involve almost at every step the choosing of a "correct" course of action from a set of alternatives. Only a conscious entity -- an intelligent mind -- is blessed with such a capability.
