Just purchased this shed and was very helpful to watch your video! I'm also trying to build this by myself, and you now gave me the confidence! Really heart warming to see how happy you are and enjoying the process! Thanks!
Pretty as a picture! A random new shed a half a world away is admittedly limited good news, but given the tidal wave of ugliness here, and in the world, it's a welcome bit of positivity and we've got to grab what we can, when we can! I too would leave it unlocked. Nice job JB!
Love it, love it, love it 👏👏👏👏 although I will miss a 10 part series 😂 but there is always - - filling the gap at the the gutter side of the shed - fitting the gutter etc - animal proofing the base - considering which colour paint then painting the outside. Will Jess have a say 😊? - dressing the outside, trellis and climbers which plants to sider for a shady aspect. Bird boxes and bug houses etc including the old slate sign (above the door or the end of shed by the path🤔). Perhaps a freestanding pot/trough or two of flowers (as opposed to beds which might encourage the wood to rot) - fitting out the inside shelving, a bench (freestanding?), installing solar lighting - using the back of the door for small easy to grab hand tools plus the essential coat hook. Also hooks to hang tool up (1. To keep them from falling down, a trip hazard 2. Frees up floor space 3. Making brushing the floor easier - consider using large transparent crates to store things like netting (rolled neatly makes later use easy), bulky items like pearlite etc. They are stackable and can be pulled out to be a tempory table. Mesure the hight of a stacks? - if you are going to have a brewing station, and why wouldn't you........ consider having a transparent crate to store your tea, coffee, sugar, dryed milk for when run out as you will, two/three in one coffee sachets, hot chocolate and of course biscuits 😋, mugs, spoons and a small sharpe knife. Disinfectant wipes all necause of those pesky rodents - perhaps a comfy chair (a folding one could be hung up if necessary)under the back window so you can take a well earned rest gazing out of the door over your 'estate' 😂 Oh the possibilities 👍👍👍
Well done JB. You will totally love it. My wife and I put up a shed two years ago, not quite the quality of yours, but it changed our whole experience of the allotment. It's like a cross between an allotment office and beach hut! We have a old wooden desk with chair, shelves full with gardening books/magazines and tea making/cooking facilities, a corner area with a small gas camping cooker to make tea, cook simple lunches like soup and noodles, one small sized retro armchair to really relax in. We added a small space outside with table and chairs to sit outside in the summer. It changes your relationship with the plot that is for certain. I mean, we could even sleep in there if we really wanted to lol! Oh by they way, so sensible not to lock it. We had all our sheds broken into on our allotment a few months ago and I'd locked ours. They actually didn't rip the door open, they smashed through two of the windows which was a monumental pain to fix. So yeah, I don't lock mine anymore, they can take what they want, just leave my shed alone!
Awesome build project. I decided to add another ply sheet to the floor on our shed build up on the plot to protect the original the thinking behind that was to give the floor extra strength but also I can always just remove the ply and replace should the floor start to wear. Great find with the levelling kit by the way.
Hi JB, what a great job you have done building your lovely shed with help from Jess, too! The floor doesn't matter. It will always get dirty, you are a gardener and it's adds character. I just brush my floor and it's fine. Had my new shed for 4 years and it's still in very good condition. We didn't build mine, where I purchased it from built it for me. Love your videos JB, you are always true to every job you undertake on your plot and lots of advice too. Your roof, thats unusual the way it sits on the front, mine sits over the edges. Thanks for sharing and take care 😊
I’m blown away by the quality and how well thought out this video is JB. I’ve heard of power sheds, that shed looks so well made and you’ve done an amazing job as always putting it together! Very jel, can’t wait to see how you do it up now.
Ahh thank you Soph! The reaction to this one has been lovely, so hopefully PowerSheds get some good PR from it. My parents want me to build them one now hahahaha
Our very solid potting shed (which isn't really being used for potting, more as storage and a "nice place to be on cold days", because the windows are south facing), was more than double the price for the same size - 10' x 6' - from a local company (Finlaystone), but we were happy as it was put up by them and the whole thing was as painless as these things get. We're in the West Coast of Scotland, in the Central Belt. Our Rhino greenhouse, on the other hand, which we bought before we moved, sat in bits in the garage for years and we mainly got the frame up a few years ago (but I've spotted a couple of errors to be fixed ...) and we still don't have the glass in. I'd happily have paid to have that put up for us too, but now that the "tougher" glass has been moved here and is still sitting up against the wall of the garage and some of which is now damaged, that's easier said than done. I'm determined to have a usable greenhouse this year for the first time since we demolished the disintegrating, wood-framed greenhouse that came with the house.
Looking good. I'd definitely extend the roof out at the front and back; not only to protect the shed but more importantly to give yourself "porch" areas for storing things like canes and hosepipes and of course a dry shady spot for a cuppa 😊😊
Yes that's definitely the idea for the front at some point! Not sure what I'll use as the roofing material but I can cross that bridge when I come to it.
@JBNat on the one side we just used marine ply covered in felt and supported on a wooden frame with uprights into metaposts. On the other side same type of support set up but with polycarbonate sheet as the roof with the felt from the main roof over lapping. The whole set up is 25 + years old and still going strong, although we did replace the felt with corrugated roofing a couple of years ago.
We recently built our hothouse which had instructions in Chinese, and it took four months to build it. I think you have done an awesome job with your shed!
I love when JB says "that's the theory" - it sums up generations of English men dealing with something that in their experience might well bite their ankles😂😂
Nothing like a new allotment shed, I put mine up exactly a year to the day , total game changer , hope it brings you much joy!! On our plots its always the sheds without windows that get the break ins so you maybe ok to lock ??
So much fun putting this all together. I think I would have brought a sleeping bag, a camping lamb and spent the night. It really does look good.. Great job JB!
Wow sets I now have shed envy! That is a great size, what a beaut and just the one part series. Well part 2 can be the pairing with part three the fit out 😉Well done you. Our neighbour was telling us about the quick jacks as he used them for his event shed build. It was great to see them in action. They made the levelling much easier. What a great idea!
What might be an eye stopper would be a very small wind turbine, then you can get the rest of the equipment and have a bit of power in a battery backup to charge cameras, phone, etc. There are some "funky" new designs out, spirals, tubes, whirligig types. Could be quite fun and very practical. A converter may or may not be needed depending on which battery you get.
Great shed and that levelling system is amazing must remember that 👍🏻 loved watching your excitement as it progressed 😃😃 Totally agree about not locking. The locked sheds on our site were smashed in our latest break-ins. Mine they walked in and pinched the site coffee tea and biscuits but discovered nothing else of any value to them
Oooo I love a shed😊 I’ve got 2 one is full of tools the other has a stove some comfy chairs and my potting bench, both were free I love them! Nothing better than a cuppa and a catch up with fellow plot holders 😊
Have no idea what happened to my previous post, JB! It just disappeared! Anyway, GREAT looking shed! Wow! You could insulate that thing, put in a wee kitchen wood stove, a reclining lawn chair, and Bob's yer uncle! This is the nicest shed I have seen to date...all of the others seem so flimsy. This is going to be a wonderful place to take a rest and warm up when it's raining and you've got work to do!
Great shed, where the barge board is covering the felt on the front you need to run some sealant in the gap between the wood & felt on the top to stop any water running down in between them if you havent already done that!
Yes great suggestion, I was worried that if this happened it then would have got right into the inside of the shed. I will seal it but at least now with the way I've done the extra bit on the front, it should stay outside.
Great video JB. Loved it more that it wasn’t in a series but a start to end one this time❤. But that is just my own mild OCD of liking a full story in one😊
Haha You made me chuckle when you mentioned the floor. I tiptoed around mine for ages because I didn’t want to get it dirty. You’ll have to build a veranda with….a rocking chair. 😂
Haha *loved* how the spade just slooooowly tipped in the time-lapse in the beginning. Looked super cool. I can understand that you can't put down a whole slab, but can you not even put like concrete "feet" for a shed? Though those QuickJack things seem to have worked wonders! I thought that it would have gone the other way, with a long side towards the communal path 🤔 Either way, it looks awesome! Well done! 💪And nice touch with the sign hehe.
Not even allowed feet! I was planning to have it running the other way like you've suggested, but there actually wasn't room! I would have had to remove some bed space so it seemed to make sense to just rotate it.
@JBNat So it wasn't just me who dreamt it then hehe. But it looks lovely this way as well, and nice with access paths on both sides 👍 And that's a little bit weird. Feet you can just "pick up" and then fill the hole 🤔 But I guess it is easier to just forbid it all. Then there'll be no arguments about what is and what isn't allowed hehe
JB when screwing, to stop the screw digging in and not pulling the 2 pieces together, use washers, it might create a bigger surface area and stop the screw digging in
Love the shed! I don't need a shed at my plot (yet, anyway) but I wondered whether you could mix that must for temporary situation with other things like charring for water protection (and it looking it pretty too).

I feel short changed now JB. I've broken my foot and already ploughed through 60 million box sets, thought you'd have me sorted for a few weeks...🤣 Looks great though, doesn't it! Will you be getting a camping wood burner in the corner for a cheeky Sunday morning full English? 😄
Great build JB You have blasted the mickey takers of the 10video build history. 😂😂well done. Looks a great shed though… very roomy. All you may need to do now is some permanent raised bed covers for critter and bug defences and cold frames. 😂😂
Lovely job! Fantastic shed. My new shed has those gaps at the top. Wasp came in straight away and started nest building! I have filled in with fine mesh and egg boxes. What else can I do? Ideas please.
Was nice to see Jess helping out 🌿 I think it's a good idea to have a darker/windowless end not only for privacy but it means you can put shelving and storage all the way along those 2 walls 🧑🌾🔨⛏️🪜
Proper smart man shed!!! Long enough for a dart 🎯 board. Will you be putting a bar at the far end and install Starlink for the footie and the Potty Mouth live? 😄
Great shed, bravo on your quality work. The windows are in a good place to leave you a lot of uninterrupted wall space for a shed table work space and to hang things. Would you put a solar panel on the roof so you can have a light bulb inside or is it too risky with thieves?
@ if you do consider it, I saw another Brit who added one. He secured the solar panel on the roof, almost flat so it wasn’t as visible, and really secured it down a lot so it would be almost impossible to remove without a lot of tools and time. The wires inside can be replaced easy enough . I see you using it for a light on dark days and a tea kettle .
@@majordog2399 seeing as the timbers are floating it didn't seem needed? I will be tucking some weed membrane under but that won't stop water, but should help keep it neat and tidy
@JBNat I just wondered as I did it to mine and always worry that any water is pooling. I don't think I'll bother next time after seeing yours. Thanks for the reply.
@@roberthingley3959 The bearing plate which spreads the load across the soil. Soil is always potentially going to compress or sink, but it would be the same if you were setting a concrete footing on soil too. I was unsure about how well it might work but they held up really well with the entire shed left on them overnight.
So helpful to watch you build this, thank you for the video. I've been researching 10 x 6 sheds for weeks now and was going to go with another company (Project Timber) until I saw some pretty damning Trustpilot reviews. I'm set on Powersheds Premium Pent now. I never thought I'd know so much about sheds but there's a lot of factors to consider. I'm going windowless and opting for double doors. I'm also going to attempt to build a wooden frame for the base as I think £179 for their powerbase is pretty spenny considering it's just some UC4 wood screwed together. A week on...are you still happy with your purchase? Anything you'd change?
Yes I do agree the frames are a little spenny, but good quality. Depending on how much weight you're going to put in there you could probably use less timber too. The base design is slightly unusual, the way a lot of the timbers are doubled up seems a bit unnecessary, but super strong I suppose! Still very happy. Survived storm Bert just fine and holding up really well :) good luck
@@myownchannell Just a cheap combo from Argos! It goes okay for most things but can't cope with chunky timber joinery like sleepers Edit - sorry I've just seen which video this is on, for this build I was borrowing a neighbour's super duper Makita impact driver :)
..... but how permanent is something that can effectively be picked and moved as it has no fixed foundations. Can you have a greenhouse? If so what's the difference? Do like they do with Shepard's huts and attach wheels 😂
We're not allowed greenhouses or polytunnels either although there is nothing in the agreement saying this. We don't have a committee, just a guy that does the admin side of things and he says it's the farmer who owns the field that the allotment is on that doesn't want them. Personally I don't see a problem if they are like JB's shed and greenhouse as they aren't concreted in but then, I raised enough eyebrows with the older plot holders by putting raised beds on my plot so haven't challenged it to much yet. I can't find an email address for the farmer but there was a postal address on the agreement so might go old school and write a proper letter asking about it
I wouldn't have windows by the path either - you don't want to draw attention to what you have in the shed, attract thieves, etc. The roof also makes me think birds and critters will move in.
Not wanting to put a damper on your joy but your new shed has a security failure with those windows. They need to be beefed up to stop two legged foxes getting into shed other than that looks like an amazing shed
Ooh, the shed looks great! Can’t wait to see it all the way done - and slightly disappointed it won’t be a 12-part series 😂😂🎉🎉🎉

@@mikeinportland30we don't have those furry ones here in the UK😂
What a great looking shed. any reason you choose not to put a damp course down before the base went down or is that just over doing it?
@@majordog2399 seeing as the timbers are floating it didn't seem needed? I will be tucking some weed membrane under but that won't stop water, but should help keep it neat and tidy
@JBNat I just wondered as I did it to mine and always worry that any water is pooling. I don't think I'll bother next time after seeing yours. Thanks for the reply.
Don't have any water butts touching the shed, it will hold water to the wood and rot it. Happened with a mates and had to replace several slats...
Whats to stop those ground anchors sinking further?
@@roberthingley3959 The bearing plate which spreads the load across the soil. Soil is always potentially going to compress or sink, but it would be the same if you were setting a concrete footing on soil too.
I was unsure about how well it might work but they held up really well with the entire shed left on them overnight.
I’m so tempted….. my shed is in dire need of a rebuild… but it’s an 8x12 ££££
I have a steel site toolbox on my plot when I build my shed I will bolt it to the floor for power tools you can get one for 150 puts them off
What power drill do you use JB? And the brand?
@@myownchannell Just a cheap combo from Argos! It goes okay for most things but can't cope with chunky timber joinery like sleepers
Edit - sorry I've just seen which video this is on, for this build I was borrowing a neighbour's super duper Makita impact driver :)
What about the shadow cast buy the shed😊
That's one of the reasons I kept it where it was, that bed is already shaded by the large tree. Works out nicely!
Fantastisch jb looking te tuinhouse Top video Good work Good weekend fried Top 🧢☕️🌡🍂🧤🌤🦺👍🏚😅
Just needs Jess to hang some floral bunting off it now🤭
How much for your services JB? My shed arrived today and I've not clue how imma build it 😂
hahaha where did you get it from? Good luck with the build!
Hi JB Just leave a key in the lock problem solved !
I thought about that, fine until some joker nicks it and I'm locked out my own shed 😂
@@JBNat you have 4 spares
I want a shed now. Apparently we aren't allowed them though as it's considered a permanent structure
That's such a shame!
..... but how permanent is something that can effectively be picked and moved as it has no fixed foundations.
I can't find an email address for the farmer but there was a postal address on the agreement so might go old school and write a proper letter asking about it
It can't do any harm especially if you emphasize the fact that you don't intend using concrete for the base work@@karenbrowning3397
Pull up for days…. Bang. Haha
Paint the inside white to lighten it up as much as possible, before you do anything else.
Oooh that's an interesting idea! Haven't decided exactly what to do inside just yet, but white walls might be a good idea.
I wouldn't have windows by the path either - you don't want to draw attention to what you have in the shed, attract thieves, etc. The roof also makes me think birds and critters will move in.
Good job reverse screw and then drive it home.
Not wanting to put a damper on your joy but your new shed has a security failure with those windows. They need to be beefed up to stop two legged foxes getting into shed other than that looks like an amazing shed
