  • My students often asked me what is the best way to cook rice, and my answer is unequivocally: get a rice cooker, which makes the best possible rice without any fuss. In this video I review a 6-cup rice cooker from Aroma. It is great for one to two people. It cooks six cups of rice in about 20 minutes, and the rice turns out very well. For about $15, this is an excellent investment to make cooking rice easier and more efficient.

Thank you, Tak. Our youngest daughter (turned 26, Jan 10th, of this year) moved back home a few months after university graduation. She tried to find work near campus; hwr, everything closed due to Covid so she came home. She was able to finally get work. The job experience opened the door to another company that hired her for both the experience she gained in the 2.5yrs of work in addition to her undergrad (major & minor) degree education. Today, she bought her first small appliance, the Aroma 6-cup rice cooker. I sent her the link to your channel. It has helped me tremendously. I know it will help her too.

Thank you! I ordered this 6 cup model from Amazon only with the stainless steel inside. It is still a great value. Thank you for adding timer!

I bought one of these because I've misplaced the lid to my similar Oster model. Both seem good but I noticed that the Oster cooker was 350 watts vs 300 for the Aroma.
I've noticed that the rice sometimes tended to stick to the bottom in the Oster, maybe the extra wattage made it cook with a little extra heat.
The non-stick pans are really helpful at cleanup.

THe non stick ones also have Teflon that can leak to your food.

@@th3azscorpio it may not always and usually it’s no cause for concern but the healthiest options are gonna be stainless steel, I bought the aroma stainless steel rice cooker and it’s been great for me. I usually dump some water so nothing sticks after and wash off the rest and haven’t had any problems as far as non stick

I believe the manufacturer's suggested proportions calls for too much water. Tak uses a 1:1 proportion of rice to water - which for a pot, seems like not enough water, but for the rice cooker seems to work for him.

I know that this video was made so long ago but anyone can see my question it would help me out tremendously!
I have Chinese friends that are coming over this weekend and I am making several authentic dishes...
Bang bang chicken, spring rolls, Beef Ramen, ect....
I will also be making fried rice. I am going to get me a rice cooker from the store but my question is do I need to wash my rice before putting it in a rice cooker or can I just put the rice in and then the water and turn it on?

The best rice is any long-gran rice varieties, but in my opinion, Jasmine rice is probably the best. They are a little bit more expensive than regular long-grain rice, but I think it is well worth that little extra. I buy mine form Sam's club in a 25 lb bag, and it usually lasts me about couple months.

Hello, I usually used 2 parts of white long grain rice and 1 part of brown rice. That seems to work well for me. I like the resulting texture or the rice.
