Then witness as I put this Alien menace down and show them what will happen if they ever make the mistake of ever coming back ( I won the first X-com game with Reaper team. The finest squad I’ve ever built )
buildings getting constructed, bulldozers slowly digging to the ground, scientists developing new technologies, strained soldiers ready to face the unknown, world map showing your satellites guarding our planet and the commander thinking of what to do next That's what this music reminds me, everytime I hear it. Putting everything into a relaxed but also nervous mood. And I love it.
The true, one and only game where ( Muting a music was NOT AN OPTION FOR ME! ) absolutely had to have the music on and it never got old. Honestly McCann nailed it for this one and Deus Ex.
This is the perfect music that encapsules the feelings preparing for the next mission *and* the feelings when coming back from a stressful mission, consolidating, strategising, and expanding your base
If I could be an eccentric rich guy with all the money I wanted for a dream house, I would build a "war room" for gaming, and this would play when walking into it.

This is my favorite HQ theme , too bad it gets replaced by the other ones after you captured the outsider. It's almost like the actual xcom theme too me, so I wish it would return in some form in futur xcom games.
I do like the escalation between the three though, however. Particularly when playing Long War... I don't know. I agree with you, but something about the slow escalation of the music, from HQ 1 to HQ 2, and then after the base assault and first alien base, the music becoming much darker. You start off on a heroic and pragmatic mission to protect the earth at all costs against a completely superior foe, and a couple of ingame years later, you're stuck in a brutal deadlock where half of human civilisation is on the verge of collapse and the aliens, now matched, categorically refuse to give up. HQ theme 3 feels dystopian, and it's worth saying that Long War or not, it's entirely possible to lose entirely even that late in the game, XCOM and the alien task force grinding each other down, originally a simple research/probing/harvesting mission turned into an actual struggle.
@@GlobstersMessenger Oh god, Long War is a fucking blast, and simultaneously the most fatiguing experience I've had in any XCom game. I'm in late October 2016, first year of the game, and about to raid my second base in November. I have all of Asia and Europe, save China, (second base assault soon) and its just so taxing. Constant UFOs, constant fighting, and just so absurd of HP values I'm quickly becoming war fatigued, IRL from it... Yet, the experience is awesome and all my experienced troops and MEC troops are a godsend, and this theme capitulates itself on being an epic for my Elite XCom unit, dubbed Phoenix Platoon. Sitting at 62 soldiers, 5 are MECs, and about 7 Psionics, probably off top of my head, 15 are gene modified, maybe around 20? Half my airforce is Laser weapon kitted... Aliens still damn tough, but got 9 satellites about to go up in a two weeks. Going good so far, hope taking back China goes okay.
9 years late, I know. But what about the 'Mission Complete' theme used in the Tactical Legacy pack? I think that one would be quite good since it is also based on the original X-COM: UFO Defense game
XCOM EU soundtrack still shits all over XCOM 2's submission. I mean C'MON!!! all they needed to do was port these same tricks into the second game. How hard is that?
Commander to the research lab, commander to the research lab.
Commander to engineering, commander to engineering.
Let me revive this by saying: Commander to mission control, commander to mission control.
Yeah soon, in XCOM 2 oh yeee

Every time I hear this I salute
I am playing this game for the first time, and I must say i FRICKIN love it!
The "Deployment" tune is more of a theme song.
This track would be the "Compulsory Episode exposition" song every episode.
Thanks for this! It gets me pumped for work!
Best music ever
I didn’t want to do my homework for class last Sunday.
I put this theme on in the background.
Now I’m tenured as the President of the University.
hahahahahahhaa
If XCOM had a TV series i'd be stuck between this tune or the mission Prep tune as it's theme tune

Excellent, Commander.
I'm gonna play this on a loop while i assemble my brand new PC ^^
If i only had one wish in this world: It would be for XCom to be made into netflix series
If the "Welcome to the Avenger" video had the music of the base, this theme just got a worthy successor
Cheers, man. Couldn't have put it better.

Very like Deus Ex: Human Revolution.
Then again it's the same composer.
You know it actually does sound like that :o haha
A struggle, yes, but over time, you will hopefully succeed where NERV failed.
Unless you started things with XCOM 2, that is.

Xcom 2 only had good ready for deployment music but even that one was only on par with EU ready for deployment music, at best.
New update to Xcom 2 allows you to switch audio from Xcom 2 to Xcom EU. Have fun :3
