This has been a great watch. It brings one question to my mind. This is a 1/4 scale. What is the smallest scale that this boat could be used by a person(s)? Could a half scale work as a very stylish dinghy?
I wouldn't recommend scaling the boat for actual use, for modelling it is fine but for use we recommend it is built as per the design.... Unless you want to water ski on a pair of 6ft models maybe? 🤔
Could the bevelling not be built into the cnc process? I recognise it would take far more programming and wastage in the cnc process but surely would enhance the build accuracy.
I did think about this early on for the framework but came away from the idea as it is actually more likely to induce problems and remove stages at which you can absorb small errors.
Even scaled version is gigantic 😄
Tiny compared to the monster boat you are building though!
Agree that it’s nice to get to working wood! 30 minutes flew by…
Nice boat. Well done!
Such a cool project. Very satisfying to watch.
Nicely shaped bottom 😂
I think my next boat will be 1/4 scale. Should be far easier to get out of the basement.

Can you drop the stringer below the frame work so not to do so much planing and sanding?
No, this should wrap around the frames and maintain full contact with the bottom of the boat.

nothing like a smooth bottom !!! … er ahh , as opposed to a bevel bottom …
😏 🍑
What size CNC machine would be required for the full size build?
I would recommend an 8x4' machine as a minimum due to the fact that a lot of the parts are sized around standard plywood sheets.
@@DanLeeBoatbuilding I’m in the process of building a new shop at the moment. A cnc will definitely be a new addition to the shop.
Thank you.
