This trek looks very beautiful, but the weather in monsoon is very risky as well, specially last 2 years, lots lf land slides, road blocks. What are the chances of getting clear sky even completing the trek in terms of timing? I am based on outside India now and planning this trek in 2025 along with the Spiti Valley, Chadrataal, Rotang Pass, and Kasol post to this trek. Could you please suggest me on this regarding the timing? July/Aug/Sep?
Hi Chinmoy, we recommend July-September as the best time to do this trek. Contrary to regular high-altitude treks that open in Summer and then in Autumn, this trek opens at the end of summer and ends mid-autumn. Monsoon months are the best time to do the trek. Most of the trek lies in the rain shadow area of the Himalayas, like the Pin valley of the Spiti region. This after passing the cross. And though one cannot call the region before the pass as lying in the rain shadow area, it is drier than the Rohru side of Himachal Pradesh which is closer to Rupin Pass. We’ve noticed that during June there is a high amount of snow near the pass making it a risky affair. Having said that it's not impossible to do the trek in June. But July onward the trail gets slightly more comfortable.
@@IndiahikesThanks to your response, to be more specific is it fine to do the trek on on Last week of the August, especially seeing the climate of the last two years? Which month you recommend considering completing spiti valley post to this trek
