About Maya: An nine year old Pembroke Welsh Corgi, Maya loves carrots, broccoli, pasta, and turkey treats the most. She’s also particularly enjoys the beach (but not swimming), playing tug of war, learning new things, competing in Obedience and Rally, and taking up the entire bed at night.
About Kayla: I began training dogs in 2008, starting with raising puppies to be future service dogs and fell in love with the human-canine connection. Over the last several years, I’m thankful to have had the chance to help train service dogs, therapy dogs, compete in Obedience and Rally, and introduce people to the dog sports I love.
Thank you for watching this video! Maya and I compete in both AKC Rally and Obedience, so if there’s something you specifically want to see or learn about, leave us a comment below! And if you enjoyed learning about the sport of Rally, please give us a like, hit subscribe, and pass it on!

Great info. My schipperke, Storm, and I just found out about Rally a few months ago when we were taking regular obedience classes. We entered our first AKC Rally competition in Feb and had a lot of fun. Rally is much more entertaining and enjoyable than regular obedience. I also like the bond it creates between you and your dog. Over the past three months we got our AKC Rally Novice A title, moved to Rally Novice B for 8 more Qs and several ribbons which helped Storm get more comfortable in the ring, and we just got our AKC Rally Intermediate title a couple weeks ago. This is all still very new to us and we’re supposed to go into AKC Rally Advanced next.

Very nice performance and extremely cute dog. We are in Canada. My smooth collie has her masters and we will continue next year with more titles. Thanks for the video.

I’m so happy I found you on RUclips tonight! I have a PWC too and as I was looking up the difference between rally and obedience, your video came up. It’s more than just luck, I feel like this is a sign that tells me to go and get my pup into the sport too. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and training tips! Glad you have your IG info too! I’m in love with Maya already. ❤

Congratulations 🎉Love the attention you get from your dog. Any tips on how to get great attention. It’s nice your dog loves rally with a smile.

For us, a lot of the attention training happened outside of trial environments first. I took her to Petsmart, Petco, rest stops on the side of the highway, Lowe's, Home Depot, etc. and just reward her for paying attention at first. Then, we played fun games and did heelwork in this places too. Before long, she understood that she should watch me no matter what venue we were in. Hope that helps!

What a fun video. Tara (2yr Brittany) & I just got her rally adv title last weekend and 2nd leg of her CD.
She’s my first obedience dog and I’m hooked. Would love to see more videos on how you train the skills, plan your trial schedule and tricks to speed up your runs. Thx.

Congratulations! Your dog is amazing! She really does look like she's having a great time out there.
My Pembroke Buddy (1.5 years old) and I just got our Rally novice title about a month ago and now slowly working on getting him off leash for Rally advanced and novice obedience. We also are competing in CPE and TDAA agility. It hasn't always been easy training at times but I am loving when we have success and learning so much from our failures.

Congratulations on your successes and your journey together! You and Maya look both skilled and joyful!😀
My Pem Corgi Roxy and I are on the same journey, although, descended from herding stock, Roxy is more intense with some happy moves mixed in too. We have about 140 total points with 12 triples, two Rally Masters, and an RAE, but this year are working on perfecting positions and details that will push more of our scores above 91. For the 2nd year we've been invited to Rally Nationals in June, this time in Excellent. Last year we qualified in Advanced and frankly, she was overwhelmed at the size, smells and sounds of the crowd there, but then, she was only three. This year we're both a little older and wiser -- hopefully! Like many Corgis she's wicked smart which is a plus, but now and then also a minus 😁.
We also have our Obedience CD, a couple Tricks titles, etc., but there's something about Rally that makes a RACH our main goal. Maybe because it's so much fun and builds such a rapport with our dogs! Good luck to you and Maya this year!!!

Wow! Sounds like you guys have been successful in Rally and elsewhere too! It's always fun to see a fellow corgi and their human in the ring. Good luck at Nationals!

Thanks for the good wishes! Our first trial this year is in a week or two, and I hope what we worked on this winter will show. Either way, it will be fun and that's what it's really all about.😊
