Not even gonna lie... I'd never heard of this guy until the internet splashed all over the place that he died. Have listened to a few of his songs now and will probably put him on my spotify rotation. Very talented and very soulful. Sorry I missed the bus on this kid. RIP young man.
He’s been on my radar for a long time but confess it wasn’t until about 2 yrs before he passed that I began to follow him in earnest and I certainly regret it now too especially because I actually KNEW about him already Just ONLY in name and appearance. Amazing young man. I always found his passion and intensity fascinating. Such a cool cat. And genuinely interesting.
This is the one that always hits me so damn hard. Often fight bittersweet flashbacks to my worst days when I listen to this one, because it brings me back to moments of catharsis and those bittersweet blues just from hearing this tune and singing along in a car driving around at night depressed. Thank you for sharing your struggles Justin. As someone with manic depression, I feel like he was a kindred soul sharing the rawest expression of the rock bottoms troubled souls like us hit over and over again in life. RIP brother. Thank you for teaching me the blues are meant to be felt, and sung, not just suffered.
I met Justin Townes Earle in April, in Knoxville Tennessee. And it is still, and will probably remain, the coolest fucking thing that has ever happened to me.
God bless his soul and God bless his family. He was such a talent. I came across his album Harlem River Blues. It blew me away!! I became an instant fan when the first song came on. I didn't know he passed away until now. I hope his family will find some peace through the Lord and everyone's kind words.
A tortured and brilliant soul. One of the best live shows I’ve ever seen. Him and Jason Isbell before Isbell got clean. Don’t know how they were standing, but they were great!
had a drink with JTE and Scott Miller one night in Asheville, NC during a massive snow storm... was a memorable night... this dude is talented beyond words... just lay off the stuff bro... make another kick ass album bro and it's all yours for the taking!
@DocCereal For sure dude. He's real country. Forget everything you know about today's "country music". JTE has so much soul. Can't wait to see him in May. He was great in August when I first saw him. He will get respect just like the Avett Brothers are starting to.
Came across Justin at a Social D concert. He opened for them in Mesa. Have been listening to him non stop since. I was super saddend about his passing. RIP Justin. All his songs told stories and great ones at that. Thank you Justin, you wrote great songs. It is still hard to believe we will no longer hear new music from you, but you left us with such great ones.
Justin is my cousin and I'm a huge social d fan. I remember finding out at a social distortion show he had been on tour with them and played the night before I was shocked. It's JTs birthday today and social d among other were supposed to play a tribute show for jt in Nashville. It got postponed a year. Crazy. Im gonna go by his grave later today .
seen (JTE) twice...........seen his dad many times......i'm 50........they are both unique and I am grateful to have been lucky enough to have experienced their talents, both musically, AND the soul touching lyrics they write.
I get that but I like both versions. I love the way he does it live with just a guitar and I love this more polished bluesy version. I think both showcase his amazing talent and voice.
This is life... for some, point is that balance is beautiful. Loosing your balance usually happens when your Slippin & Slidin, ending with far from graceful landing!... Me personally keepin it simple works best, but i'm always ready to tuck & roll !!!
To doc cereal Because he isn't commercial enough for the pop, country or rock radio stations. He is played on ITunes badlands and other Americana and ALT country stations. Country music was real music at one point. Now it is just a place to put artist that don't fit into the rock or pop or other categories. Pigeon hole
@heisenfeis That makes no sense, no one can be confident and hide the fact that he is not confident, because he doens't know what it is to be confident, think about it, a person who hides the fact that he is not self confident makes her really confident.
@heisenfeis too bad I have no tattoos, I know a shit ton of people with tattoos and they are pretty confident, not to mention 3 of them are actualy actors.
JTE will always be one of my favorite artists. RIP brother

One of the best live shows I’ve ever seen.
Every album was 100% gold. My fave solo artist by miles
He'll making you question what genre to classify him as alot but its great every time there's tons of him performing online

You missed out again I’m sure….too bad your life has been spoon fed corporate crap that you think this comment means ANYTHING
RIP Justin. Loved your music so much.
Fuck fuck rip🥃🤟

Woke up in the night and read the news..... Justin Townes Earle will be sorely missed.
JTE helped me during a low point. Wish you peace now brother.
I met Justin Townes Earle in April, in Knoxville Tennessee. And it is still, and will probably remain, the coolest fucking thing that has ever happened to me.
Same.
Incredible guy. Happy to have met him too.
Was on my bucket list to see him live one day. Very sad. His music touched my soul.
Me too😢
I could sit in a bar and listen to your 8:00, 10:00, and 12:00 sets, then stagger out with a broken heart. Rest in peace.
I can't explain how much his music meant to me
Rest easy, man. Your music means the world to me. Kept me going through the worst of it all.
RIP Justin. First song I ever heard from you.
God bless his soul and God bless his family. He was such a talent. I came across his album Harlem River Blues. It blew me away!! I became an instant fan when the first song came on. I never got to meet you but your music spoke to me on so many levels, you'll def be missed buddy!! RIP
Every song this guy did was amazing. Lucky I got to see him live twice. Can't believe he's gone 😭

First song I ever heard from him, in some really dark times in ‘14/15. Here they are again, and here I am.
seen (JTE) twice...........seen his dad many times......i'm 50........they are both unique and I am grateful to have been lucky enough to have experienced their talents, both musically, AND the soul touching lyrics they write.
Lost but not forgotten!

He always looks like he needs a hug. lol
Wonderful musician ... chip off the ol' block, but clearly he's made his own way and crafted his own style.

What a cool guy!!😁🤩
I just realized the intro of this song through the first lines of the verse would make a great song to a commercial

💔
#RIP
He isn't huge because he doesn't fit the Hollywood assembly line mold that is popular, and thank whoever that he isn't! He's far above that!
I had the pleasure of meeting him last year. He was as down to earth as anyone I've ever met.
👍👍👍

This is the original.
cool
nice tattoos
Feeling so low......
sometimes he sounds like bruce springsteen oO good job. love it

all you have to do is buy his plane ticket and hell come play at your party he doesnt care he just loves to play. hes playin at my cousins wedding
@Angelwise11 True true, people without self confidence use tattoos .
@CarnifexAaron nah i know it is that way, and it is hard for people with out self confidence to see that fact. maybe like you.
stay away from the shaat, your music is much better without ,, Love you & most of all... Jesus loves you
Why do I try my luck? I should never touch the stuff.
But it shouldn't make any difference as long as I keep up appearances.. I've been working hard
Where can I find the spanish translation of the song?
@CarnifexAaron Well from your point of view they might seem confident.
