The best video I saw about cutting to blend since many years. I just tried it out and it worked perfectly for me doing this by my own. The 5 Steps are great and really make a difference to other tutorials. Thanks for that.
As somebody that loves to learn, I would highly recommend this video. Some serious ‘Aha!’ moments here. Pivotal moments which I call my aha moments are when the words of how to do something finally click. I could be told the same thing by 10 people but it takes just 1 special educator to explain it in that way that makes it all come together
Best video I've seen on this. It was very informative and easy to understand and follow the steps. It helped me a lot with my extension. Thank you so much! ❤️
I appreciate the comment. 🙏Recently I’ve noticed the trend is to leave the hair much thicker at the bottom. Many cuts look like extensions and they are not🤷♂️
Amazing video. Lots of great tips and you explained it so well. Liking your videos a lot. Hello from the UK. thanks I'll be checking more of your videos out.
I’ve got beck length hair, but I would like clip in extentions to give me volume, do I need to buy 14 inch and cut them via the hairdresser, or are there short length extentions ? 🙏♥️
finally some decent hairdresser showing how to blend it step by step, rather than the snowflakes of the youtube, cares more about their image then the hair cut. Well done sir.
Great question! I love the brand 44/20. It’s an old barber blending tool company in California. I’m not sure if they are in business anymore. You can get used ones and have a sharpener fix them up. Any high end thinning shear with a lot of teeth, close together well work. The more, the better😀🙏
Annemarie Fitzgerald I do! Wet is fine also, but you install them dry, so why waste all of that time! If you wet... you must dry... Plus, when you cut dry, you can see the layers and blending immediately. Good or bad! Wet hair hides mistakes.
I have issues with blending my layers with extensions. I am wanting to do the micro loops but i need help. Instead of buying one length and then cutting it, would it be better to buy two different lengths say 16" and 18" and layer that way?? My top layer that stands out the most is about 14".
Jenessa Thomas, Thanks for the correspondence!Cutting extensions properly is rarely done well. I'm glad you care! Using different lengths is a good idea and can help in blending layers, but proper placement is the foundation of the overall look being natural. Consider taking one of our classes to perfect your skill in cutting extensions. I'm not a fan of micro loops or links because of the fungus that grows inside most of them. After washing, it never seems to dry inside the links well enough and combined with a dark, wet and warm environment, they usually smell after a few weeks.
Bernard Ory, thank you for responding! Glad that know that I was at least thinking correctly on possible different ways for the layers. I have since watched all the videos that you have posted, I completely agree with the placement being extremely important. Would love to take some of your courses but sadly I think I need to get my cosmetology license first. I absolutely love the videos and how educational they are, I was wondering if you had at all thought about doing one with 5 different mannequin heads showing four different placement techniques done and one head showing only the top and bottom row attached, to help create a visual of why each method is used. Just a thought. Hope you have a wonderful day.
Steven Joseph Magri There are 2 times in the 5 steps that I lift vertically. One of those times, I’m only cutting her hair to soften the blunt ends. The other time, it’s the short hair that’s hers and what I’m trying to blend from. This technique removes so little hair that it’s fine to get a little of the clients hair in the blending, but notice I cut behind my fingers so that most of the short hair can fall out of the way.
@@Bernardory wow so cool to get a reply from you Thanks for answering! I am in new england and was certified in Chelmsford ma at so cap new england i actually ended up working as a assistant for them the day i got certified they asked me to be a assistant for christina truscello and joe acolla was my boss in 2010 im due to be recertified but i continue with my extension work and specialization in keratin fusions.
@@profitablestylistacademy sorry my English is not so good. The tips of the hair, at the time of combing them I did not like, because they were irregular and I do not speak for the final line, I say from the final line and 1 or 2cm up. In the end, you don't show the edges and I can't tell you what the final result was. I really Sorry If you don't like my opinion
@@elreconnection I like every opinion. I believe it’s a basic human right. It’s not the only way to cut hair extensions. It’s my way and I’ve been very successful with my methods and thought I’d share them. Many stylists have been helped and thanked us for sharing. It’s been very encouraging! Share a link to your cut video for comparison.
Wow, Mrs. negative. I know, because I mention it in the video. It’s a very difficult color to match and I only did the cut the best I could with what I was working with. Move along. Haha

There are lots of different length extensions, but you should see your stylist for a consultation to determine length and amount first.

Where do you recommend purchasing extensions? Do you have a preferred vendor?
I am always testing different brands but right now my salon uses Onstage beaded extensions and SHE for keratin extensions.
What thinning shears do you use?

When you lift up vertically the sections of the "extensions" her hair is attatched to how do you make sure your not cutting her actual hair?
