Here we go...Part 2 of our epic Thousand Sons vs Ultramarines fight to the death! As one of the top performing armies on the Channel the forces of Chaos have a tough task ahead of them if they are to triumph over these defenders of the false Emperor! Will the Thousand Sons teach the Ultramarines a lesson in warfare? Or will the defenders of humanity rid this sector of the taint of Chaos? Watch and see as these two forces fight it out for the second time!
1:01:10ish.... when a vehicle becomes damaged it doesn’t get minuses to hit... its ballistic skill just changes. Meaning you can reroll all missed shots with storm bolter even when moving as it isn’t a heavy weapon. You would also reroll 1-3s with lascannons because his ballistic skill became a 4. 4 would be a miss because of -1.
after a bit of research, 'wing' is apparently something like 'daneh', 'denah' or similar (change vowels to your liking), so maybe 'Aped Daneh' for Chicken Wing?
Been waiting to see this sexy army on the table! the single biggest flaw in 40k is the advantage turn 1 gives an army. Yes, there are ways to mitigate the amount of damage you can take by deploying defensive, but it can be devasting to come back from a turn in which your opponent takes out 25% or more of your army. I would like to see 40k go more the way of Kill team where despite going first, (which is still an advantage), you take turns in movement, then shooting, with ready units getting precedent, etc... It allows for alternating in both shooting (kinda) and assault which in turn keeps the game balanced. I also like the melee in AoS where you do alternate choosing which unit to attack with. Once this gets balanced, 40K will be a much more tactical game rather than too heavily relying on luck.
Oh so close! What a great game. I think we have a rivalry here! I I knew Thousand Sons were gonna be an awesome addition to the channel and they have been. Great job by James again. He's really good about using his CP's at the right time and doesnt forget the smaller stratagems he can play. Great stuff thanks guys!
Yeah so close and the TS almost tabled the Ultras...how cool would that have been!!:) Yes it is not just James' army that is tough...he plays very well...have become a pretty solid player now over the seasons:)

He's proven his skill with all the Imperial armies this season (including armies he has only very limited experience with) but most especially his own personal armies. The brotherly rivalry has reached new heights!
Wow, such a nice table. The gamemat in itself it is just nay, but with those scenery and terrain pieces you build such a nice table. Fantastic work! Go Ultramarines!
Good demonstration of the basic rule: if you can shoot your heavy weapons - shoot them! Don’t waste the shots on repositioning and other nonsense. Your unit will be most definitely get wiped out bevor it can shoot again.
I like that now you have Thousand Sons! I think it is a great army, and even for today I'm toying the idea to have my own Thousand Son army. (My friend have Space Wolves so it will be very fitting). I would advise you to film the psyhic phase for the Thousand Sons. Especially when the other phases won't be eventful. Other than that your army relies hevily on the psyhic phase and in this battle report most of the stuff happens there which we can not see. Sometimes it felt like 5 minutes for the Thousand Sons then 20 minutes of Ultramarines. It would be also a good showcase of the army for those who are either new or not familiar with this army. Also I think you have wasted the Tzaangors. They have a really good close combat potential and I think they might be a threat to Guliman himself. And please try to be more tactical with the command points. As you pointed out you burn them too quickly.

You wouldn't be able to use the helm of the 3rd eye to get a CP back from getting extra relics as that's done before a game while building armies. The bearer must be on the field to use it. Loved the game though.
Great clash between the Ultramarines and the Thousand Sons in this game! A few tactical decisions I personally wouldn't have made, but that's what all armchair Generals say, lol. There were rule mistakes, but nothing too terrible. The worst was when you tried to cast Doom Bolt twice in the same turn. Each psychic power can only be attempted once each turn. Also, vehicle damage brackets change your BS, they don't apply a negative modifier to it. This matters when figuring out what hits you can re-roll. Tzangor Twistbray only has 1 wound. By the way, you seem to have misplaced your final thoughts text from the end at 1:34:36 causing a spoiler for the end. :/

Sorry for the noob question, long term GW gamer here but never really delved into 40k before! Basically I’ve started collecting a few Ultramarines, and will be picking up Dark Imperium soon. Apart from the Codex, is there anything else I need to play? Do all these cards for powers etc come in the base game, or is there more I’d need to buy (obviously more troops) on top of the base game and codex?
Honestly mate u dont rly need the magic cards and most of the other stuff if u want to play competitive or seriously then u might want the objective cards but id think u need them as the objective cards rules can be found in the rule book
As much as I enjoy these showdowns, Rowboat Girlyman is just too strong for his points. Rerolling everything everywhere, and he just castles up with your hard hitters. Can't target as a character, 3++ Save, gets up again after dying. Just a cheesy choice for any Marines army. Granted they need the help right now, being so expensive for what they do, but still feels like starting off at a disadvantage whenever Rowboat is on the board. This is more of a commentary on the model itself rather than the choice to bring him in this particular showdown. Love the batreps, thanks guys!
Hahaha the Inceptors!? No way man. Guilliman is the honorable mention and MVP of that match. Without rerolling literally everything that would’ve been a totally different game. And if he’s going to bring a primarch, then you should bring Magnus because that’s the only way that will ever be fair.
If you were gonna split the tzaangors up like that might as well split the Rubrics and do two Battalions. Yeah you lose the SRC but you gain a lot of flexibility. I think the extra 4 CP is worth no SRC.
Why dont any thousand sons players take hellbrutes instead of terminators? Not as affective at killing troops but can be good against tanks and frees up a lot of points for more rubric marines
The Thousand Sons did well. A close game. Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts. All is Dust. All things change in time, you will learn the same truth as we did Uncle.....everythng burns. On a rules note the Twistbray only has 1 wound and Scarab Occult terminators have a ws of 3+
35:16 you can't reroll a reroll I believe. Awful play by ultramarines. Lascanon team (not to mention half the army) with a flying demon prince coming at them with one turn to shoot. Lets not shoot this turn.., but fun batrep overall! :)
As a huge fan of this channel at about 1.34.45... I couldn't watch anymore. That's either a spoiler for the first match or a spoiler for this one!! I normally vote against James (sorry James), especially when he plays space marines (double sorry James), but he gets a double vote when he plays against space marines, whether it's for, against, or with you Luke. Either way fk that was a murder fest. My only other complaint is I wanted to see those two titans of murder tear through something besides with their rerolls or mind power... Still always a good matchup. I've said it before, you two make me wish I lived in Europe. Oh n I also felt like I gave James an unfair advantage because it looked like an old school cast (it was just a very long thermal I'm pretty sure) until I saw the 4 straight 1s.
Three things from the get-go. First, no Magnus against Guilliman, 'cose why would you want an army multiplier against the cheesiest army multiplier still around? Tzaangors in ten beak squads when you didn't need to have them as such. Not only wasteful drop-count -wise, but also they perform waaaaaay better in masses. Unless you plan on just sitting them on the backfields and for that ten Cultists are far a superior choice. And giving the heavier armament to two separate Scarab Terminators, when you can just stick them to a single guy... Not saying it's bad as such, but really giving some unnecessary advantages to the Gullibleman and his Cawlspawns...

Great game. Shame the daemon prince didn't really do much outside of psychic powers when it's such a boss in CC.
Growing pains of the army. He could have marched his guys into rapid fire and charge range and ended the ultramarines.

Love these batrep but this is why I loath these sort of games.. it’s more about card draw than actual playing 40k
Guillimans reroll bubble is 6" not 12" so he would have had no trolls on his auspex scan when he killed your terminators
Joe Ramuni you can reroll ones within 12" of him.
You can reroll 1s for every imperium unit in 12"
