I wouldn't normally share this, as it feels... Ah, very awkward, very... uncomfortable. But since you are asking to hear what the song means to me, I thought I would share. I'm 23. For about the past eleven years, I've grappled with hypersexuality, which is, a bad combination because I find sex repulsive. I can't imagine anyone who doesn't feel the same could quite understand, but it was beyond horrible to realize that I no longer had control over my own thoughts and actions, and couldn't hold on to any semblance of purity. I've spent years feeling nothing but hate towards myself and everything that I am. I tried strategy after strategy to fix it but, since I was just an adolescent for alot of it I wasnt able to do much about it then, and by the time I was 18 I had already been so twisted I found it incredibly hard to function. I couldnt sleep- it was always worst when lying in bed, so I'd stay up for 48 hours at a time just trying to distract myself. Dropped out of school, too; Couldnt stand the thoughts at everyone I saw. I didnt really know it wasn't normal, so I just mostly blamed myself for all of it. Spent years doing nothing but longing for death. But eventually an old friend from middle school reached out to me and shared some information and I was able to get a supply of antiandrogens. It still wasnt enough, for the longest time... I became deathly terrified that I was beyond saving, that literally no matter what I did, I was so corrupted that it was impossible to ever feel right again. Seemingly, I just had either hyperandrogenism or some kind of freakish drug resistance, since eventually when I was at the top dose the urges got weaker; I kinda gathered by talking to other people, eventually, that the level of lust I felt after being on the medication for a year was about the same or similar to what most people feel normally. Even so, that still wasnt enough. I couldnt stand all the memories of what I'd become, couldn't stand the way I felt. And, because of that, it was hard to work up the strength to regain any control over myself. Every single time I tried to resist, it just got worse and worse and worse until it broke me, and there was no worse feeling than that; it was easier to just try to numb myself. But last november, 2022, I started trying again. Things got awful, really awful... IT was like it was back before I'd been on drugs again, the lustful thoughts were almost omnipresent. On November 15th, I almost broke down completely.... Another of many panic attacks. Feels like the worlds spinning around me, like I'm floating in space, nauseous and sick to my stomach, my vision wavering. These went on for hours. But through me breaking down I finally decided "I have to give everything I have to try and heal.", no matter how hard it would be, or how much I felt like I didnt deserve it, because it was the only chance I had, and by hating myself I was only making it even harder. Then of course, when this song came out, it was almost freakish how much it felt like it fit with the situation, so its hard for me to even think about what it might mean outside of my situation. "I'm finally opening up my eyes, to see the devil in a flesh disguise. No longer in control, its time to reclaim my damaged soul." It honestly sounds alot like the monologues I went on on November 16th. Some of the details may be lost, since I'm summarizing eleven years of torment into one comment, but it really does fit my feelings on it. I've taken to trying to distance myself from what happened by trying to think of it as a different person. If anyone asks what my birthday is, I just say november 15th, and I like to say "I'm two months old" since thats how long its been since then... I just want this to be a new start. If anyone is wondering, I have regained control, now. I havent acted on any urges since before november 2022. Some days are better, some are worse, but I havent gotten anywhere near giving in. And, the intensity has declined dramatically since then. I'm just telling myself that I have to prove to myself that I wouldn't ever do those things out of my own free will, since thats the only way I could forgive myself... If I could just believe that it wasn't my fault that all this happened.
To show some of how the individual lines apply I wanted to share how I relate to some individual quotes from the song too. "Pride is the price I'll pay" My best friend told me that all the misery and self-hatred I already felt over this was the punishment, so I didn't need to punish myself further than that. "I'm trying everything I can, to be more than the memories I have, more than the suicides I've planned, more than a life that I can't stand" Like I said, on november 15th I decided that no matter what it took I had to try and move on. "I hate the games you play" Its hard to explain this one. When I say I like to differentiate myself as if I'm two people, I mean that almost literally... I would have arguments with myself in my head where I'd basically try to outwit or trick myself. Inevitably, those thoughts in my head tended to get the better of me, somehow *deceiving myself* to act against my best interests. Its so hard to describe... "This you and I can never co-exist" When I was trying to keep my wits about me and remind myself who I want to be, I would always focus on how contrary to my actual values and wants that feeling of lust was. I believe I actually said "Those things can never co-exist". "When my reflection is the enemy" I focused mostly on the feelings, but my actual external anatomy also repulses me. I hate looking in mirrors because it always reminds me of how far I've fallen. "Forget what I've become, I'll never forget the damage done" I still have a sense of fear that I cant recover just because I still remember so much that I've lost. It fills me with envy and resentment. "I'll be the change I need" Well, I certainly am trying to be... Its taken everything I have to get this far, and it'll take everything I have to get back to what, who, I want to be. Need to be.
My ex came back to me...i feel wrong having her back since she suddenly got engaged to a friend of mine then weeks later today she says she misses me and how protective was of her, so tell me what can i do that won't land me in prison because my heart still broke from that engagment photo
