    What a wonderful lecture on SQL migration...a complete package even for a tenth grader can learn SQL level migration from this video...hatts of to your hard work and dedication....
    lot of respect for you man.....
    I have a question as why we have configured Private endpoint??? and then deleted in end....could nt get that as what was the use???
    Second, in subscription under left panel u selected some Resource providers for Migration....i also couldnt get that also..plz if u could respond to this query as well.
    thanks for this wonderful video....

      1--For connecting the SQL to any service we have to create an endpoint as SQL cant be connected over the public network. Database Migration service is responsible for migration so we have to create a private endpoint on the SQL side which gives connectivity to DMS with SQL.
      2--Database Migration Service(DMS) is not automatically registered with Free Subscription, we have to register it to our subscription using a resource provider.

      @@VirtualTechBox ok dear...but what if we r using a paid subscription...in that case still we will need Resource provider or we will not???
      Secondly u said, we used Private endpoint to access SQL DB...then in the end why we deleted that endpoint??? Was it used only for migration and thats it...because after migration we dnt want to access our On premise DB anymore??? is this the reason for endpoint deletion???

    • @VirtualTechBox
      @VirtualTechBox  2 года назад +1

      @@MuhammadWaqas-gr4gg That private endpoint was only for connectivity between SQL server and DMS, after migration it has no use so we deleted it.

    Hello brother, I am doing migrations via Azure Migrate, ADS and ASR....Still companies are using ASR even now....One thing which really pinch me is that, If we do a failover from On-premise to Azure...a new VM is created and eventually new IP Address is assigned to that VM....but how customers assess that new VM as IP address has been changed due to failover and how DNS will point to new IP address...this is what i am facing now a days...if you could make me understand migrations/failover perspective plz, i would be grtful.

      @VirtualTechBox  Год назад

      I haven't worked on ASR yet. But after failover, you can change the IP in the application.

    Ashfaque brother, i have an imp question...In companies where there is huge amount of data to be migrated/transferred to Azure from On-premise....they use a Azure Databox service where physically hard disks are migrated...so how do u apply migration steps in that case???? or there would be a different migration scenario???

    • @VirtualTechBox
      @VirtualTechBox  2 года назад +1

      Databox is an offline method and downtime is more in that case. I will try to make a video on databox also.

    Ashfaque bhai, is this method under Azure Migrate supports only migration to Azure Sql or Azure Managed Instance as well?? I mean u r using DMS....so a Target DB can only be a Azure SQL or we can also migrate to Azure Managed Instance as well...???

    Ashfaque bhai, What if we have 5 SQL on-premises Servers...in that case we have to install DMA on all 5 SQL Servers??? And i think there will be 5 projects with 5 separate migrations or whatelse??and how VPN will be configured for that setup??Please guide....would be grtful.....

    • @VirtualTechBox
      @VirtualTechBox  2 года назад +1

      The migration project can be single but we will have to install DMA on all 5 SQL servers. If all 5 are in the same network then our vpn will work for all.
