  • Azure SQL Database is one of the key data storage solution for structured data in Azure. If you need to manage structured data via schema, constraints and relationships or you need to explore your data via rich query language then this might be the right service for you.
    In this episode I give you introduction to what Azure SQL Database is and what are the key reasons to use relational databases. This video also shows what are the key drivers to choose the right pricing and performance models and a demo of creation, management and connecting to Azure SQL.

    I have one question , Can you please let me know the difference between vcore and dtu in azure.. May be am looking at a real time simple scenario which can give me a complete picture.

    • @AdamMarczakYT
      @AdamMarczakYT  4 года назад

      hey Murthy, Thanks! DTU is old pricing model, a lot of clients didn't like that they couldn't specify amount of virtual cores. Also in vCore you can scale storage independently of compute power, which in case of DTU you paid for certain allocated storage and if you needed more storage you needed to upgrade DTU. New vCore machines also have more powerful tiers.

    Thanks for the video. I am confused though about the user account switches. So in Azure Data Studio I should never use the login I made when setting up the server? Why? I also can't figure out how to add another account as an active directory admin, and I am confused as to why I have to do that. It seems to function fine when I use the initial login info. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
