Please don’t say a wait time of 134 years. Say it for what it is. Indians who applied for green cards after 2016 WILL NOT GET a green card in this life. The US now only allows bonded H-1B labour without the possible benefits of permanent residency. High time students think hard about taking loans of ₹50 lakhs and getting into this limbo.

Well when u travel abroad it's a reality that you will be responsible to bear all your expenses. Taking this loan in the hope of paying later never ever happens in reality. Unless your are one of the few brilliant people like Sundar Pichai who Im sure such people never need any loans as they get full scholarships

American Dream is dead for Indian. No other Country is facing this issue and the Senators and Law Makers do not care and as the immigration law says the burden of proof is on the applicant. Better to earn and leave. Molly, one note most applicants are already on H1B or L1 Visa so they can work legally.

The backlog was created for a reason. And the simple answer is automation. It was predicted that 73% of these workers were simply required in United States for automating America and were not required beyond that. The coming recession will send many back to india. But I would expect many to eat sand or stone and die in America even if that means begging using the logic beggars life in America is still better than beggars life in India.

Indians with advanced degrees have good opportunities in US. So, they choose to tolerate such a broken immigration system. Illegal immigrants (even the good people) use these numbers to justify that illegal immigration is no worse than this broken system and therefore totally acceptable until legal immigration reforms addresses these well known fundamental issues. India is not just the most populous country in the world (17.76% of world population), it also produces the most english-speaking talent in the world (45%). Yet immigration limits are unfairly independent of such (talented population) numbers.

150 years waiting time was estimated by officials. Indians didn't come in back door as you mentioned. They don't even get a basic id card in that case. This is impacting the working people. Other country people gets it in 2 years including pk, Nepal, Bangladesh. We can't blame them bcz they are worried about 140 million population. In 80's desis use to make at least 10 members in their family to get gc etc and due to that we crossed limit.

The country caps are there for a reason. They do not want the workforce to be dominated by one country. They have to maintain the diversity. Remember that each state has only 2 senators irrespective whether it’s California or Iowa. The government puts such cap on itself to give a fair chance to lesser populated state to have their say in policy matters then it’s just fair that they put cap on immigrants (particularly employer based).

    • @ankitait2
      @ankitait2 11 месяцев назад +4

you are sadly misinformed, if what you say were the case why would Iceland and India have the same cap? The population is different. The policy was based on racist past where the prime objective was to keep the US 'white'. Similar to the Chinese exclusion act (which was struck down). The policy still exists, because the senators and congressmen of this day are not half the policy makers than what the US had even 30-40 years ago. Grandstanding is all they know and pragmatic policy making and the famed American common sense is missing in them.

If more and more people from one country enter and dominate the workforce, that can change the work culture. More people from one country clan start businesses and employ their own county men in general. It happens in all communities. Even Indians in USA who migrated in 70s and 80s owning stores, gas stations etc. do that a lot. They even sponsor their relatives for business visa rather than hiring some local talent. It’s good to have diversity. If we want to get rid of country cap, then get rid of system altogether which puts a person working for FAANG or ambitious startup or R&D in the same bracket as person working for a desi consultancy with low salary. Best way forward is points based system which will ensure that the best and highly educated people are prioritized.

Inaccurate information provided in this video: You CAN work legally when you are waiting for your green card. You just have to keep extending your H1B visa. This life is far better than working in Bangalore for peanuts in Infosys, Wipro etc with toxic managers and pathetic work life balance. Infosys will eat up all the commission up to 70-80 % in between from end client dollars and pay meagre salaries to what they call cheap labor back in India. Instead work for the same end client in USA and hire a consultancy (there are 80 thousand consultancies owned by our andhra telugu friends) to hold your H1B visa and they only take 20 % commission.

There are now better opportunities in India. Many US firms have directly opened offices in India. As a fresher you get peanuts but if you stay for 4-5 years you earn a good amount.
Yes, in US you earn more but the expenses are also very high.
-- In India, maids/servants/caretaker are easy to afford than in US.
-- Food -- eating out or ordering from food delivery apps is very cheap. Also you get proper Indian food not watered down versions.
-- Family support and can be close to your parents.
-- Medicines and medical procedures are shockingly cheap when compared to US. Unlike US you don't need to wait months for doctors appointment.
-- Now almost all major international brands are here so you don't feel left out.
If you are an ambitious guy India is a huge market with infrastructure being developed at an extraordinary rate. A lot of money to be made by starting a business.
India today is different than what it was 5 years back. Some things are still the same but there is positive attitude all around.
If you are rich in India you can truly live like a king.

If you say we can train and employ natives ....what's the time frame to achive it, till that what do you think those business will do just put their projects in the parking lot ...Still they need outside talents to fill the gap by offshoring ....

The Democrats have to put their head - which they lack clearly - together and remove the unwanted condition of the dependents needing to be part of the count; that is, if the candidate is waiting for I485, his/her dependent should not need to apply I485 instead they should be included as part of the candidate's application. This will very much reduce the backlog to less than half a million and cut the waiting period to 50 years from 134 years....

Pls cover hardship marriage or family based categories. This country is not allowing couples to be united even after their marriage and bring them as dependent. They want wife to remain in united States and show proof of income while husband remain in another country for 4years to meet quota. What kind of proof this immigration asking when millions are entering via border that they will b dependent on country while a family man or woman should show sufficient income to bring spouse to this country. For LPR wait I almost 4years that they can't go to be spouse cause they need to show income in this country to sponsor and bring ur legal spouse.
