Another fantastic tutorial! Well done and thank you!
    3 questions...
    1. How do you operate the humidity domes..? Do you have a blackout zone?
    2. Is your pump on a timer, and what watering cycle do you suggest for the different stages... How does one manage that?
    3. Would you please do a follow up video on planting of seed and seedling treatments, germination, growth and hardening...
You guys rock! I recommend you to all my students

      Hello Martin,
On a commercial scale, we use a germination chamber which creates a humid and warm environment (with no lights) to help the seed imbibe water and germinate, but once the seed has sprouted we take it under the seedling station lights immediately. The same effect can be done using a warming pad under the seedling tray and a humidity dome in a dark place for the smaller producer.
Currently we have the pump on a timer to go on 2-3 times throughout the day for 8-15 minutes. Often this doesn't need to be changed for different stages, we just increase or decrease how many times per day if something is too wet or too dry. This is usually just a simple tab outlet timer from the hardware store
We will keep this video suggestion in mind! We always love making videos that directly pertain to what people need to learn so I will start writing down notes for a seedling video and we will have something soon!
Thanks to you and your students for watching!

@@ZipGrowInc thank you for the response. We generally find that the system works well up to germination, and then we have issues with the growth.
Damping off and other fungal issues that creep on layer on in the life of the seedlings... That is where we struggle. I know choice of media is critical, so maybe we are doing something wrong there..?

Great video! Very informative. Just one question, what is the wattage of each of the led lights?

What do you do about mosquito larvae? Especially in the sump...Several years ago I purchased several single-tower units, each with its own reservoir. I've not been able to use them except indoors, due to "wigglers". Thanks!!

We don't often run into this problem because the water is not stagnant and usually the constant movement of the water through the pump deters this, but if it helps you can dose hydrogen peroxide into the water to help kill algae and insects at 2ml 5% peroxide/L of reservoir solution!
