      I hope it's been smooth for you since writing this comment. It is a lot to learn to do and you have to do it well for the game to be run smoothly. That said, you can learn it all in like 6 weeks if you buckle down, especially if you're in a class. Good luck!

    What does TCH pay its dealers per hour before tips and tournament downs? When you work over 40 hrs in a week at TCH do you get paid time and a half on your base pay? Is it difficult to get full time status at TCH? Also, do they offer health insurance if you average over 33 hours a week for 3 months like other large business are supposed to?
    Thanks Marc.

      Pay is nothing. It’s like $2/hr like a waitress. Tips make up for all of it. Insurance is meh, and hours aren’t guaranteed but usually there’s enough dealers wanting to leave. Tourney downs are bleh but it’s like that everywhere. You gotta figure out your tax situation. Claim or don’t claim tips is up to you

    What’s a “duvet” or “duret “ ? Thanks

    • @truepokerdealer
      @truepokerdealer  2 года назад +2

      It's "Dual Rate" - It means you are able to do 1 of 2 different jobs on any given shift. Jae is something a dealer and sometimes a supervisor

    Just curious what is the hourly tip average at that room?

    • @truepokerdealer
      @truepokerdealer  2 года назад +1

      According to the owner, Ryan, in an interview earlier this year, the dealers make an average of $42 per hour.

      @@pwaly I was not able to find a link. Ryan is an owner who has no active involvement in the Dallas room. It was around the time when the state tried to pull the license they previously issued earlier this year that TCH Dallas ended up winning in court

    I love the reference bro lol ...but it’s not 1 mill it’s north of 5 with assets.....I love the idea of dealing but idk how good of a career it ends up to be things are good now yes .....but what happens when a recession comes and moneys not flying around then what ....it’s still a service job at the end of the day ....love the vids tho

      Hahaha I forgot how much you said. Glad you watched the interview! Appreciate that.
      Honestly, a poker dealer who chooses to start dealing right out of high school and works as many hours as he/she can for the first 4 years has the ability to put aside as much as $200,000 after those 4 years AFTER having paid for their living expenses if they live intelligently and don't spend much and put the extra hours in. At 8% annual interest (roughly what you get if you invest in S&P 500) from ages 22-52, they can turn that $200,000 into over $2 million if they don't touch it. Yes I'm oversimplifying things, but so are you and the thing I am saying is true.
      To answer your question about what happens when the recession hits, I was in the casino industry during tougher economic times in 2007 and 2008 and people still played poker. That's actually when I entered the industry. I first learned to deal in February of 2007. The Great Recession went from December 2007 - June of 2009. The 2008 WSOP Main Event had over 6800 entries and that was even AFTER the 2006 online poker fiasco.
      As always thanks for the comment! Despite the negative spin you put on dealing, these are valuable conversations to be having!
