I can really resonate with the mask you have to put on in order to avoid hurting tips, not always an easy thing to maintain, I’ll have to look into the circle authentic relating. Thank you for the video!
Thank you for returning! Love the content. I'm living and dealing in pittsburgh PA (2 years full time experience) . Looking to relocate where poker is booming and dealers keep own tips. All suggestions welcome.
There is a genuine community aspect to poker for all the regs aswell. You can travel to any corner of the world and use poker as a universal language. If you can find a table, you can find a home. You can put man to the test and find out who they really are, all without a word spoken. I'm a poker dealer and I've met my closest friends at the table. Poker is a social game for antisocial people. I find Degens who play poker, lose significantly less and far slower than in other forms of gambling. I love poker. I love my job. I love the community. I love the Degens. Poker has given me better relationships, more life lessons and helped me grow as a person and given me a community i thought was only reserved for the cool kids, athletes and everyone who grew up before to smartphones.
Yeah I acknowledge that I sorta missed this part of it all. I think the idea here was that we were talking about the other side of the coin and it's not that we don't see this side of the coin. I very much appreciate this comment and appreciate you naming that poker isn't just a bunch of people who are out of control and in their unhealthy patterns and there is so much connection that people can experience with poker that is healthy too. I see where I should have talked about this some as well. Thanks!
I have a mantra when it comes to an individual at the table causing me stress. Not everone is operating with a full deck. You dont know where people are coming from and what they may not be capable of .
Yeah I agree with this. I try not to have expectations for others in a similar way. That said, I also understand when a dealer has a tough time feeling like they are around people they can't relate to and need to spend less time around them.
What about dealers becoming the hosts of home games. Covers the expense of dealing and make a pretty good living on the rake and they're able to recruit lots of players
It's tough for me to say yes to any home game without knowing about the legality of the home game being talked about. As long as it's legal, home games are cool by me.
I know I have to keep the game going How do you handle a player who constantly misbehaves Ie folding out of turn betting out of turn rude comments to you ect Even when I call the floor they still do it the very next day Just ruins everyones experience
Yeah this can be so tough. Sorry you have to deal with whoever it is you’re talking about here. And also it’s unavoidably a part of what happens in the world of poker. The deepest truth here is that it’s really case by case for me with these players. A single small detail can be the difference in how I approach someone here. There are some players I’ve looked deep into their souls, drawn out my own vulnerable humanity and quietly said “please stop. It’s so hard to deal to you every day.” Other players I know for sure they want me to say something to them because the real thing they are there for is the joy of confrontation with someone who appears weak, and with them the approach is all about figuring out how to trap them in a social dynamic they hate man to man where they end up respecting me for the thing they care about. And sometimes I try and fail and have to apologize to the player, and my boss. And also part of the challenge here is that a lot of these players are actually in the right. Like folding out of turn matters so much, right? After all it gives a player in the hand who hasn’t acted yet a clear advantage on that betting round by allowing them to know that they have to get through one less opponent. But does folding out of turn really matter that much? Because now the player with the “advantage” isn’t the only one who knows the extra player folded, so any opponent can factor that into their range and the best player is still in the advantage here either way. The real truth here is that it doesn’t matter nearly as much as we make it seem. But players who barely scrape by earning a living at poker have the loudest voices and they freak out so we all get scared and care about the things they tell us to. Same thing with betting out of turn. It usually hurts the player doing it more than anything. So I guess the real answer here at the end of the day is to move to Dallas where the players are so nice it’ll make you forget you’re dealing poker.

Dealers keep their own tips most places nowadays. Sorry to hear that you don't get to keep your own.
I still think Texas is where it's at.
@@truepokerdealer I keep my own it's just not 500 a day like I'm hearing is possible
@@squanchpatrol Ahh you were just making sure I didn't send you somewhere that pooled tips.
Sometimes some people have to remove themselves from certain environments. We all have demons and fight them in our own ways.
Yes to this

Excellent content always.....also what kind of dealer chair is that in the picture and what other chairs do you recommend? :)
Hahaha. I love this question. I bought that chair in 2011 and I have no idea where I got it.
