    Devongunsmith Diaries #47 Blaser F3 JAMMED SHUT!
    The Devongunsmith Diaries concept was conceived by me during lock down, and the premise was to be able to perform work without a fully set up gunsmiths workshop, but rather, using just the Cottage Kitchen Table, a few hand tools, some cordless tools, a table vice, and other small DIY tools.
    While the channel is not specifically intended to be a how to guide, it is mainly for entertainment.
    While in the UK gunsmithing must be performed by the Licenced Gun Trade, RUclips is without borders, and if the channel is useful to someone as either entertainment, or indeed helps you to decide if a repair might be possible, then I have been a help to you.

    It is known that you need to put a bit of grease in where the bite located in the barrels in the F3. I found out when mine started getting hard to open.

    It's difficult to imagine someone treating a shotgun, that costs as much as a new car, so poorly.
    I clean, oil, and grease my Boss Action shotguns thoroughly every time I shoot them, and every few months I pull the stocks to check the actions. Of course, if everyone did that, you'd have a lot less work.

      I agree. Rests why so many of my videos have me commenting that it’s easy to do yourself.. and partly why I do the videos..
      and TBH it wouldn’t bother me if more people took off the stock and sprayed some Liege or Napier around the action.. it’s easy and very difficult to screw up lol😂👍

      @@devongunsmith4698 I use a product called Clenzoil which is made here in Florida. It's very highly rated and does a great job, After I spray it on the ejectors, I use canned compressed air to blow off the excess. With one of my shotguns, which i bought used, I had to place the dirty action in a sonic cleaner, which did an excellent job of removing accumulated crud.

    I have a Blaser and always clean it after every time out shooting and do the same as you recommend take the stock off.

  • @danncann4889
    @danncann4889 2 месяца назад +1

    A simple way to clean a shotgun action is to place it in a sonic cleaner with metal cleaning added to the water. Let it run for an hour, and then action will be spotless.

      The blazer action is naturally quite tight, so lubrication and grease on the hinge will help as well

    I just found ur channel and have subscribed as the content is interesting and well presented. I have a browning xs shotgun about 20 year old. Unfortunately I put it away with out cleaning and the chrome in the barrels got slightly pitted. Is there anything that you could do to it. Or would it be worth getting new barrels fitted. The chrome is only slight pitting from what I can see.

    • @devongunsmith4698
      @devongunsmith4698  2 месяца назад

      It is rare for Chrome to get pitted, however when the damage is done It is unfortunately present. I can’t comment on Gun have inspected but if it is only a small amount of pitting the best bet is to get it looked at or inspected.

    Would you not remove the detent and give it and the block a good clean?

      In a perfect world, yes absolutely.
      It was a same day quick fix. My client was satisfied. And also I guarantee all my work. So if that issue pops up again in the next year, I will sort it out without charge.
      I also showed my client how easy it is to clean up with gun cleaning spray.
      Ideally it would warrant a full action strip down service. My client has that option too. 👍

    Bit concerned to see that expensive woodwork moved around on anything other than a baize cloth. Glad you fixed the problem, but a bruised stock or fore-end would not have pleased me, or my Rizzini !

      Fair point. But as I frequently polish gunstock ls from the white, wouldn’t actually be any problem to me, also there were already scratches on the stock.. so a moot point.. anyhow, as you’ll not be getting me to do any work for you anyway, it’s hardly a problem is it mate? 👍
