THANK YOU!!! This is EXACTLY what I was looking for. This video was succinct, pithy, and spot-on! THANK YOU!!! I gave this video a thumbs up and subscribed to "All" videos.
invaluable tutorial. thanks for introducing me to the "latest posts" & "cover" features in Gutenberg. You are always teaching me something new in an easy-to-understand way. Thanks a million!!
Thank you for this. I was looking for this exactly. Now I need to try and see if I can do this. What is your MOST recommended plugin for media manager, and file manager fir WP6? Please share.
Nice video I like the cover block I will be using that from now on, my main problem is lining up a 2 column block with text and image may be you can throw some light on that thanks.
Hi Jamie, thank you for this, I was amazed how easy it is to create a page exactly how I wanted it. I have two questions - how and where do I add the read more tag. And secondly is there a way, without code, that each blog post opens on a new page. TIA
Disregard my email with the subject line "Video Request". As it turns out, you'd already answered my question, just three years before I asked it. Thanks as always Jamie.
We would like to say a big thank you for your video, you are a very good teacher. You didn't mention one thing... normally at the bottom of every blog, as there are many articles, you have to add the possibility to go to the next blog page... Would you please have a solution ? Best regards
Great video Jamie. How can I make a similar grid of custom post types? As the content may not be in the same format as a Post would I need to build an archive grid block myself? I'm also using ACF in my post types.
Hi Tony, yup sounds like you'd need to create the archive block yourself, although it might be worth looking at wordpress.org/plugins/qubely/ as they have a cool posts grid
Hi Jamie! Great video - thank you for this, I liked that cover block! I know I've seen lots of people talking about it - but this time I understood why. I'm in the process of leaving Elementor on my (rather big) site, and enjoy all there videos about the block editors. I currently trying out the Pootlepress Woocommerce plugins for customizing product pages, and I think I'll end up using them. One question that I have is - is there a way to have complete control over a page displaying the blog categories? My site has about 160 blog posts, and I know people are interested in many of them regardless of the age of them, so I'm planning a category page to help my visitors find the right topic. In my head, that page would have like a mosaic design with different sized blocks linking to the different categories. Do you have any thoughts about this?
Hi, when I add the latest posts and even a title it all looks great in editing but then when I view the page any new blocks I have added stretch the whole width of the page as in they do not use the page margins. Does anyone know the fix thanks
Hi @Jamie Marsland, Great video! But i did the same but when we set the pages in the "Reading" section under settings on the wp dashboard when we set the home page to home and blog page to the blog. Then it doesn't show the blog we designed it shows the one which is readymade or made using customiser options. How to setup the Blog page to our blog & keep the design we designed using the Gutenberg blocks? Thanks!
Thanks for the reply@@jamiewp Just wanted to confirm that will not setting the blog to blog page affect the search results as per the SEO point of view, then what to do? Thanks!
@@varundade hi, nope it has no negative effect on SEO, remember that google will be ranking your individual posts (not your blog page) and these are unchanged. Also reading settings has nothing to do with SEO :)
@@jamiewp Thanks for the clarification. Is there any way to set the single post design to our own designed Gutenberg post design? Because currently, the single post design shows only the customiser design & not our Gutenberg design. Really looking forward to your upcoming videos. All the best!
@@jamiewp I've been using drupal for 14 years. I'm finding it hard to create a custom front page. And it's hard to create a custom recent posts block. I want to use a custom teaser field instead of the excerpt. Something about have to create two pages to create a custom front page? One for home page and one for posts, but not sure what that means and isn't working. Theme I'm using isn't helping lol.
Nice demonstration of the power and versatility of the block editor. Thanks for taking the time to do it.

Can you customize any free theme header using Gutenberg? Lets say that theme has only one header and you what 2 or 3 headers?
Yup you can create different headers for different pages
Love this but you stopped too soon. How do I add a Categories Directory to my Posts?
Coming from Drupal which has Views and makes it a snap to create anything. Finding WP is a major pain in the arse.
Interesting- I’ve never heard that before
