This is one of the few videos I've watched about creating sites that has not given me anxiety on how and where to start. Thank you for the clarity and relief!
What a great video! After a lot of struggling to bring it all together in my 72-year-old mind, ( WP, Elementor, Woo Commerce, SEO, etc.) You have created clarity for me by introducing the benefits of "Gutenburg". That is much appreciated.
Thank you for making this. I started a WordPress site with shared hosting and I see so many tutorials pushing Elementor without any explanation. As I did more research, I am finding that Gutenberg is free vs paid , light weight, and able to do what other page builders do with plugins.
thank you very much for this informative video, I really like your way of explaining things and the way you present it, you get me hyped up and excited to learn more
The content of this video is both interesting and helpful. You've done a wonderful job. I've loved and subscribed to the channel already. Keep the information flowing. Best of luck to you! 👍👍
glad to see that you are starting to add more Gutenberg & kadence blocks tutorials. Haven't sub just yet, waiting for more on these topics, but really great quality video!! Keep it up!!
Really great video Jack, I really wish all the stuff here on YT would be as easy to understand as yours! One question: I don't have a "Starter Templates" tab available in my WP editor, do I need to install anything more? THX
Hi Jack. Thank you for creating this vid. I am a novice trying to build a blog. I have been trying to figure out Elementor. I stumbled upon a 6 hours long video, that I left after watching for 2 hours. I was so frustrated 'coz there are so many things to learn. But now I am releived after watching this . I have become your fan literally :). I am going to build my website on Gutenberg now. Gonna watch more of your videos for further learning. Kudos!! God bless...
Hi Jack, really enjoying your vids. I'm an absolute beginner, and I've spent literally months on RUclips trying to figure out a way in to build my website, so that I can focus on what I need it for instead of the build. So many are 'guns for hire' for hosting or pagebuilder products, that it's hard to know what to listen to. Enough of 'paralysis by analysis', I'm going to have a play - thanks for demystifying!
Defo the future of WordPress. We just switched to Gutenberg and Kadence Pro for our web design business, the difference is massive. One thing though, we've found the pre made blocks often trip the Largest Contentful Paint test on Google pagespeed insights. Not an issue for us though as we'll mostly build from scratch. Just wondered if that's something a beginner might need to be aware of?
Yes, please, Jack! I would really like to see more Gutenberg videos. I saw the potential when it first came out and every RUclipsr was hating on it and now that it is maturing I would like to start converting my Elementor sites to Gutenberg. Thank you in advance for your great work on this subject!
This is a great video, one of the best if not the best for beginners of page builders ... like me. I've always downloaded the blankslate theme and used bootstrap to style every inch of it including the drop down menu. I only make two or so websites a year out of necessity. Hopefully this will make it fun. Thanks.
Thank you for this. Two quick questions please. 1. How can I link a pdf file in a paragraph block? 2. How can I organize my images into folders in my media library? Thank you!
Jack thanks for your video, highly educational and full of knowledge, I have a question though, I created a website in wordpress 6.5 on the home page, before the tag line, it shows HOME. I just can't get rid of it. I can't highlight it in list view, outline or Blocks in the setting, how do I fix this and second question is I do not see Menu option in the Appearance section so I cant make subpages for my blog post can you assist or direct me to a source where I find the answers to these questions please?
What is the difference between gutenberg, page buiders and themes? How can we identify anythng like Divi, Elementor is a gutengerg optimized or a pagebuilder ot theme?
I just got done prettying up my site's main pages with Elementor. Some rank and some don't. I'm starting a blog section now with SEO in mind. Can I just keep my Elementor pages and use Gutenberg for my new blog posts or do I need to convert everything to Gutenberg?
Hi Jack . . . I am so pleased I found your channel. I have been following the whole FSE and Gutenberg discussion and for a beginner, this is confusing. Watched some of the WordCamp Europe footage, seems even the Pros are confused. I look forward to more content from your channel about Gutenberg and Kadence. You videos give me the confidence to just get on and start playing. I am planing to use LearnDash, so the Kadence, Gutenberg combination looks like it should be the way to go. I commend you for going out on a limb, but I am positive your gamble will pay off. Cheers Karl
Hey Jack, your presentation style is very impressive! May I know, which application software that you use to record (from 3.23 +)? I use loom. But the presenter option is bubble-form. Here, the presenter-image (you) is open, and the background is transparent. I sent this to Loom team. They too appreciate its effectiveness. Unfortunately, right now, loom does not have this option. Pls let me know. Thanks for your video and for the response in advance!
Hi Jack in the Net, loved your video I am very new to WordPress just started learning about it only a couple of days ago and downloaded WordPress using MAMP. Anyways I am an aspiring developer who has done loads of tutorials and made some projects using HTML, CSS and JavaScript. Now I am focused on for the past month PHP for the back end. I wanted to know with the technologies I listed like CSS or even PHP am I able to make modifications to the themes used by Gutenberg? Second question, I want to either find an agency to work for who need WordPress Development done using the technologies you mentioned in your video. My end goal is to either land a job with an agency or go full out on freelancing using WordPress and Gutenberg. What would be the quickest path to find a sustainable opportunity? I've invested almost 7 months in projects and learning these technologies. Which is the most viable solution in order to either get clients or find a job with an agency to do this type of work? I live in New York City, so I am pretty sure there are lots of agencies. The difficulties I am having is finding an agency looking for WordPress Developers. I googled for agencies, and I just got loads of ADS being offered or something which I am not looking for. I am not a good googler. Thank you, Jack in the Net your content is very good.
Hello . Just starting out here and wondering if I used some of the pre made blocks as shown in your video. Are some of them sticky, moving or come in on left and fight or can I make them do this ?? Thank you.
Hello Jack! I have a question... I just moved from Blogger (after 13 years and moved my content to WP) to Wordpress so I'm SUPER NEW and no nothing about WP. For 1 week I've been watching tutorials and started building my pages (Except my blog page) using a WP template but editing them all with Elementor. Having WP 6.0 I'm not able to use most of the recommended plugins to start getting my blog posts page designed because WP says that those plugins are "Untested with WP 6.0". Now for my question, I have my theme and some pages I created with Elementor, can I still create a blog page for blog posts using Gutenberg? Or do I have to move the content I designed with Elementor to Gutenberg And do you have a video for beginners on how to do this for a Blogger? I'm not sure if I can use Gutenberg with Elementors customizations. Aren't WP users "moving over to Gutenberg? This is why it's confusing. I hope I didn't confuse you. TIA! Jules
I'm having problems concentrating and trying to learn Gutenberg at an advanced age! The process isn't helped by the screen changing without being told how to make that happen, such as at 4.22 - please explain what you're doing!
I have been using Elementor for a year and just learned I need to switch over for site speed. Ugh. If I have a wordpress theme on my blog, can I just cut paste (painstakingly) from Elementor into Gutenberg blocks and have it look correct or do I have to select themes for each page?
Hi. No you don’t need a theme for each page just 1 theme site wide. You can copy and paste or else backup your site and then just remove elementor and see how well Gutenberg keeps the content - its the styling that will need changing not the content itself
I have downloaded the so-called "Kadence Blocks - Gutenberg Blocks for Page Builder Features" in my back end with the hope that I could create a beautiful Blog. Yet, when I click my blog in my back end, I could not see any facilities from Kadence. What did I do wrong?
That's a real good tutorial. But I request you to also make a tutorial on how to add features like hover on change, shape dividers design and other similar design features like in Elementor. Waiting for your next tutorial. Thanks
Hmm, doesn't look very basic to me. I am a rank beginner familiar only with Blogspot in 2006-2008. It was easy to learn and easy to use. The only reason I am trying Word Press is because I need to have my own web host that doesn't have all the apparently random, strict and indecipherable content rules of Google (plus severe limitations on add-ons especially commercialisation ones). But Gutenberg looks way too complicated. Can you suggest what makes it easier. I am a writer. I don't want to spend a lot of time learning the interface. With Blogspot I was able to play with it. Limited features to me are a plus. Gutenberg has too many! I am looking for something that *simplifies* Gutenberg (an add-on) rather than makes it more complicated. Visual Composer certainly isn't it. Squarespace isn't either
"...templates made by some of the best designers in the Wordpress space... most of them (...) are already optimised for mobile, tablets and search engines" .... nice! 😂
Fast pages but extremely plain and boring pages. First impressions are everything for customers and if their first impression of your business and site is some basic, boring site then odds you’re not selling them on it and not making the sale. Sacrifice a bit of page speed for great design and you’re more likely to make the sale and could probably charge more as well.
Well, in fact there are boring niches, especially in B2B, and people won't wait for a site to load just because it's beautiful. But I agree that for other niches a well-designed website is very necessary.
I hate it when guys have egos so huge that they are willing to block the content they are presenting or moving around in front of it distracting viewers. Come, I don't want to see you, I want to see the content. I gave a thumb down.
In this video, there are so many things which is not correct. You say clean code? The wordpress code is not clean, and gutenberg has many javascript vulnerabilities. Why? Page Builders are very easy for create a site, but it cost so many ressources. Thats why, companies not use wordpress. They use Laravel or other frameworks. The big problem of wordpress, are plugins. And there is no difference between gutenberg or elementor. Both make your page slow. And i think the video creater is not a programmer, he can not read php or javascript. Here is my tipp: If you like a good webmaster, then learn PHP and Javascript. Then use Laravel with Tailwindcss. Sorry for my hard comment, but its real.
This is one of the few videos I've watched about creating sites that has not given me anxiety on how and where to start. Thank you for the clarity and relief!

an actual video from someone who isn't trying to sell you elementor or divi as an affiliate link, thanks!!!!!!!!!
I like the way you are so enthusiastic about this.
love this video. As a complete beginner that´s the video I was looking for.
I have been avoiding Gutenberg for so long , it's time I mastered it !
I'm a beginner & your video was very helpful. Thanks.
Great communicator Jack. Thank you.

Great video. I thought I would never leave the world of Elementor 😂 till I washed this video. What are the best free add-ons for Gutenberg?
Which plugin/addon should i use for prebuilt library?

The price you pay for visual builders: bloated spaghetti code, crowded database, slow website
