@@TB-vl2mpNo dude, this is Parma. The Cleveland sign is just past the old Coconuts record shop on Pearl. It's the grungier part of Parma, but it's still Parma. It's Cleveland's largest suburb, so there's more than where you are talking about and none of it is nice enough to brag about. It's always been a laughing stock and probably always will be.
My favorite is when the Malley's chocolate factory puts "Happy Birthday Baby Jesus" on their sign and I like to snap a pic capturing The Amber Louge tiddy-bar across the street. 😂 It's the strip club where all the girls start, but they never stay. 😂
I have a Parma, Italy soccer scarf a friend brought back to me because I graduated from Parma, Ohio where this song is referencing. Got to meet & go on a 4 day Vegas vacation with Drew Carey, back in May 2005. That was so cool. His show was based in this Parma because he lived there for a long time before he became famous.
I lived in Parma from 97 to 2007 and the part about the skies are always gray are so true and I moved to North Carolina and North Carolina is the total difference the skies are never Gray The suns out and it’s almost 107°
The former Pearl-brook shopping center plaza (now a Sheetz) that they are rapping from is actually in Cleveland. As is the Adult Mart and Home Depot that they reference.
The Shoppes at Parma is a much-needed upgrade over Parma town but a lot of the same issues the song highlights are still present in and around oldParma. Once you get near Pleasant Valley it is not as bad
It is catch and funny and yet 90% of the listed references dont, or never did reside in Parma... Knock Outs is P Hts, Depot Brooklyn, "Porn Stores" Brookpark. Even Pearl Brook Plaza where they filmed most of their footage is Cleveland.
@@kennethgillissie1499 if you lived in Parma or any where nearby it's all the same especially when you leave......the things you thought you'd never miss.
@@kennethgillissie1499The Cleveland limit sign is just past the old Coconuts record shop on Pearl where they little bridge is, so she is standing in Parma.
Not sure what sign you're referring to TBH and didn't say some of the video isn't taped in Parma. But Pearl Brook itself isn't (or should say wasn't as half was demo'ed for a Sheetz), in Parma and that's the parking lot and back drop they choose to film a good majority at. Look it's funny I just find it funny-er that so much of their references aren't even true Parma.
Many ppl of Italian or mixed descent there. My boys don't recognize their Sicilian heritage at all. They can't relate. Things become forgotten.... through the generations, having children late in life, my Italian grandparents are long gone.
The Parma I knew was provincial, racist, anti-intellectual, a mix of every eastern European ethnicity save Jews (no blacks either), blue collar gentility with a side of cultural wasteland, pink flamingo lawns, polka bands, white socks and bowling shirts sort of place, where Poles and Italians were looked down upon as low class. Ghoulardi was spot on with his observations, but it was a burb more smug than hopeless. The more I watch this, the funnier and sadder it gets. I guess it's what happens when you lose something like 40% of your population and tax base.
Can't speak to the tax base, but Parma's population peaked in 1970 at just over 100,000 and it is still about 81,000 now and believe it or not, it is the 7th largest city in Ohio.
Things are better in that regard, but we have a long way to go still. I will say that my sister's kids who went to the same elementary school that I did in the 70s were shocked to hear that there were no black kids in the school then. Or in our playgrounds, library, stores. I told them that back then people talked about how they'd move if black families started moving in, and that many of them already left Cleveland for that reason. That they find all this completely nuts is a sign of positive change.
Bro… 😂 I love everything about this. Born and raised in that shit hole. Glad I got out, can’t say the same for most of the other degenerates that I called friends in high school.
I'll never forget where I'm from... Because this song will always be here to remind me... (plus the pink flamingo standing tall near my pool here in FL...)
Great. Lemme say the people in 702 just saw this... (If you know what I'm sayin') ... And LOVED it. this leaves NO DOUBT... OH should name more cities after Great Ham.
It's funny but 75% of the references aren't in Parma. The Home Depot, Best Buy and Pearl Brook Shopping Plaza (where she does all of her singing) are all in Cleveland, Old Brooklyn and Brooklyn north of Parma. There isn't a single porn store in Parma either, they're all Brookpark and Cleveland west of Parma. Too bad they have no clue where they are at.
Inspector Javert wow great to be a population of racist whites huh? Lol. The idea of the song is just basically about the general area around Parma. It’s just funny for the song to use the word Parma cause it works with the tune. I grew up in New York and lived in Parma for a little while and for someone like me that came from somewhere else, this song is funny
Those problems are everywhere. Its the people who make a city a good place to be. So many people hate where they are from but its not where you're from so much as it is the people who populate the area. Ive been to so many beautiful places and i meet people who hate it there lol. Just because theyve lived there their whole lives and they think its a 💩hole for any various reasons. People need to change and then the places that they hate they will suddenly appreciate.
Why do so many people try to much things they don't understand? Parma residents as a group are not exactly oppressed. You can make fun of them/us to your heart's delight.
I just wanna say I come back to this a lot. A pretty perfect capsule of a time
it’s still like this too

The porn store on brookpark line killed me, considering you can see two of them within viewing distance of each other.
