      I love the work, I am just not down here enough so the list is becoming overwhelming. In due time it will normalize I hope.

    Never ending task. Once you get the crown built up you’ll get some headway on that. Looking good.

      Indeed. I have stone to spread but want to get some geo fabric to put down first.

    I can totally sympathize. We've got so many issues with our road, it is almost overwhelming -- had 5 inches of rain in a day and a half over Memorial Day weekend, and it completely screwed up our road...gravel taken many places it doesn't belong, and mostly because we don't have good drainage on our long slopes. I've smoothed the road time and again, but realize we won't have lasting results until I solve the drainage issues. The one bright spot about all that rain was it showed us where we really need to concentrate our efforts. As I told my wife, we'll have to tackle it like eating an elephant....one bite at a time!

      Yep that is a good approach. I’m going to do a video that talks about determining how and where to places water diversion. We had a forester out a few years back that walked us through the best practices now I just need to implement. Everything takes time or money. Two things I could use more of. :-)

    Scrape top soil off and put to the side dig up some gravel that top soil on the road is gonna make a mess. Some 6 inch pipe or a ditch with some no. 3 round stone will get the water across. Nice work

      @HardyBrothersOutdoors  Год назад

      Great tips. I had not thought about the topsoil being an issue because I had not thought about it being top soil. But you are right on. I have a pile of stone to spread but want to get some fabric down first. So much to do so little time. Thanks for watching and commenting.

    Howdy Josh! Yeah the Solis looks good with a little dirt on it lol! That is what they have to do to maintain the horse trails on hillsides... they cut in a diversion trench at an angle. Not too bad on 4 legs, might be a little bumpy on 4 tires lol. Hope you had a great 4th holiday and thanks for sharing 🤠

    • @HardyBrothersOutdoors
      @HardyBrothersOutdoors  Год назад

      Haha I got it dirty now they are asking my for pics of it clean. I can’t win. Haha. Yeh I need a tilt function so I can get those angles cut easier. It’s in the plans. I also have some forestry best practice diversion plans that actually cut across the road vs just along it. Just need to figure out my approach and get it done.

      @@HardyBrothersOutdoors Yeah I didn't describe it very well, but the little diversion trench goes across the path at an angle instead of along side. Helps keep the trails from washing out in heavy rains. Thanks! 🤠

      @@Cowboy_Steve yep 👍 those are the ones I’m planning. There are a variety of approaches, just need to decide how to tackle them as I’ll have to hand dig with a mattocks… too steep for the backhoe. Once I get my act together I have likely about 20- 30 that need placed around the property. Forestry guys showed us a good method for determine where and how many. I’ll do a video on it eventually. Spent yesterday hiking the hills spraying autumn olive in the woods. Was grueling work. I’m on my last major sector of my final EQIP contract.

    Topsoil is never going to be good at supporting traffic, whether wheel traffic, foot traffic, or hoof traffic, and especially not if it's saturated with water. I think you're on the right track. You have to get the water off of, and out from under your trails/roads. I grew up in woods that look like where you are. All of the roads which held up had one thing in common: They were built on ROCK.

    • @HardyBrothersOutdoors
      @HardyBrothersOutdoors  Год назад

      Thanks for the feedback. It’s interesting the point about the topsoil that you and others have pointed out. I never even considered that point and wasn’t thinking about it as too soil but it is. Water diversion is gonna be key for sure. I have a pile of stone to spread but wanted to get it built up and put down some geo mat. The majority is the dirt on the road is clay and the road has been there for decades but hasn’t been cared for enough while we have had it. Thanks for watching and commenting.

    Great video, thank you. That was a good test. What is your opinion on the R4 tires overall? Do you think R1 tires would have worked better or worse than the R4's in this situation? Don't know if you've seen the European Solis H26 with the 8.3x24 rear R1 tires.

    • @HardyBrothersOutdoors
      @HardyBrothersOutdoors  Год назад +1

      Honestly I hadn’t thought too much about it as the R1s would be hell on my lawn. But I do think they would perform better in the woods and in mud like this. Having never hard R1s I can say that it has been rare in my used cases for the R4s not to get the job done. I’d happily try out the R14s but for now all 3 of my tractors have R4s

    • @person86422
      @person86422 Год назад

      @@HardyBrothersOutdoors that makes sense. The summit version of the h24 has R14s. Those r4s give it a very solid stance. Good work.
