Great video Billy, I was born near you, down the hill at "4 Chalmers Street" where my Granda lived, it's long long gone. My Mum, my Aunt, and Uncles all went to Ladyburn, and, I was Christened in the Kirk there. My Dad worked for the railway at the Ladyburn Sheds on Wier Street. We moved to Castle Road around 1960, when the houses there were first built, and, my Dad still lives there in the same house. I went to Hillend Primary, and when it closed I went to Craigeknowes.

My mum was born in Manse Lane, Greenock. She used to tell me lots of stories about Greenock. She was a young girl in the Greenock blitz and had some vivid memories of it. A river of burning whisky flowing down Ingleston Street was one. Another was watching a ship sink from her school window - St Columbas in Peat Road. Some of the stories were clearly things she had been told (Ingleston st.) rather than actually seen. Great video, mum would have loved this. She died last year and I wish I'd written down all her stories. xx
