- Revenge of the Zombies is a 1943 horror film directed by Steve Sekely, starring John Carradine and Gale Storm. Dr. Max Heinrich von Altermann (John Carradine), is a mad scientist working to create a race of living dead warriors for the Third Reich.
The film was a follow-up to the horror-comedy King of the Zombies (1941) with Mantan Moreland reprising his role as Jeff and Madame Sul-Te-Wan returning as a different character. - Wikipedia
-----
Scott Warrington (Mauritz Hugo) returns to his childhood home in Louisiana after learning that his deceased sister, Lila (Veda Ann Borg), may have been poisoned. He brings a detective (Robert Lowery) with him, and they switch identities to protect Scott. At first, they find only Lila's sad husband, Dr. von Altermann (John Carradine). Secretly, however, von Altermann is a Nazi who has been perfecting a way to turn the dead, including Lila, into an army of zombies who will serve Hitler. - Rotten Tomatoes

"When you was alive?! That did it !" Such great comic stuff ! Mantan Moreland was brilliant ! Love every thing he did.
Even on horror pictures There's a comic relief
John Carradine and Mantan Moreland together? How could I have missed this one up until now?
In these "politically correct" times, this film is considered unacceptable, but Mantan Moreland needs to be recognized as one of the comic geniuses of film. Yes, he played "genre" characters, but then, all actors do; so get your knickers in a twist, or appreciate the talents of the man.
I could not have said it better. I call Mr. Moreland: Monogram's Maestro of Mischief and Mirth. Thank you for your viewing support. Peace and Blessings!

Amen! Comedy is dead today because of political correctness
He was a genius. His acting was so unique and entertaining. I enjoy watching his creative and comic skills that would be lost if not for the wonderful people who keep these old movies alive and accessible. If anyone wants to watch real acting they should watch these old movies, where acting was more important than special effects like in today's films.
why even bring it up? people know what this is and from what era... just enjoy the damn film without having to spoil it.
Moreland was a fantastic actor/comedian. His timing and natural responses was great. Would love to see old cuts of the takeouts. This is s man we can all look up too. RIP I’m sure the angels in Heaven love him.
I am thinking God made him an Angel once he arrived....
Moreland made the movie. It was his platform.
@@stavivanackerson6563 Yeah? Well obviously God made a mistake then. The angels can't do their jobs from rofl!!
Out-takes
John cardine was always good in spooky movies. Mantan is hysterical and so funny.
John Carradine was also in the Hound of the Baskerville's with Basil Rathbone. Another movie Carradine was in was in The Grapes of Wrath with Henry Fonda. Yes Mantan Moreland had a talent for being hilarious.
@@JaneFrieman right, and don't miss ol John C. in Satan's Cheerleaders (1977), with Yvonne DeCarlo as well
You can't go too far wrong with Mantan Moreland plus zombies, ghosts or creepy villains.
MANTAN MORELAND YOU ARE A COMEDIC GENIUS AND REALLY DESERVE MORE RECOGNITION FOR YOUR TALENTS! YOU MADE YOUR OWN WAY UP WHEN IT WAS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO BE A SUCCESS IN HOLLYWOOD IF YOU WERE A MAN OF COLOR! YOU PROVED THE HOLLYWOOD ELITE WRONG! YOUR TALENT IS STILL BEING ENJOYED AND APPRECIATED TODAY IN 2022! I ONLY WISH I KNEW YOU WHEN YOU WERE STILL ALIVE AND ACTING. IT GOES WITHOUT SAYING YOU WERE A WONDERFUL EXAMPLE OF A GREAT HUMAN BEING! HOPE WHEREVER YOU ARE WE STILL LOVE YOU! THANKS FOR LEAVING US GREAT MOMENTS IN FILM TO ENJOY!
Mantan was a natural born comedian, would loved to have been a friend of his, I'd have been laughing all the time. I'm sure a lot of people loved being around him. The old scary funny movies were the best, thanks for the show. Jp from Indiana.
I'm so glad I found this movie! My mother liked to watch old movies and I would stay up and watch them with her. I'm the only one, out of her three children, that love and appreciate these wonderful movies! 😊❤
I've loved classic movies since my youth, largely because of enjoyable experiences like the one you described. It was usually during Summer vacation from school that I was allowed to stay up. That made it doubly fun.
Love this movie!
Mantan Moreland makes this movie. This and King of the zombies are phenomenal.
Mantan was THEE Man! I'll watch anything he was in. Thank you for this one! I'm pleased to see that in the opening credits that, although Mantan is listed 3rd, his name is in bolder type.
Thank you Mr Moreland for all the wonderful comedy you gave us at the 10 cents movies.🎈❤..
Great movie with Mantan Moreland!! John Carradine is a great actor also!!
I love spooky old houses and storms! By it's storming outside now.
Gil 74 years
I'm with you, Gil. Old,spooky houses, ghosts, zombies and stormy nights. I love them
These types of the movies must have been fun going to see in the movie theater back in those days
Mr. Mantan Moreland has been a favorite comedian of mine for years. I didn't know, but I'm thankful to enjoy these movies I hadn't heard of. Thanks!
It Ate Nothing Like A Black and White Classic 🍿
At 4:52 That “magic trick” of the empty glass “filling” at his mere touch, was great.
I love the old zombie movie's.
When other Spook Stars careers began to falter , John Carradine was in movies & TV right up to 1986 . KUDO'S JOHN 😊😊😊PEACE & PROSPER 😊😊😊
Toward the end when the Zombies were after John Carradine and Lila was walking up those steps, her being a zombie, I liked the way she looks at the other woman and kind of smiles when the other woman calls her name.
M
In an earlier one he says that Zombies are dead but too lazy to lie down. Hats off to the screenwriter. That’s brilliant
Any time the Zombies are getting revenge you just know you are in big trouble.
WALKING ZOMBIES GOOD , RUNNING ZOMBIES BAD .

Dancing Zombies? ...(THRILLER).
Love Mantan Moreland. Hes one of the greatest!
Mantan Moreland is easily becoming one of my favorite actors. His sense of comedy timing is ahead of it's time!
Nice cameo in Sturges’ Palm Beach Story. Funny man. Excellent timing.
Lot's of fun. Worth giving it a whirl. March, 2023.
Brilliant show so much enjoyment I am still laughing keep them coming .Like the lasts few posts God bless you all in all parts of the world.Good night everyone.Tommy from Belfast 🇮🇪🙏🏿
I'm really enjoying watching this classics
These zombies have pretty good circulation 😂
Carradine had presence when entering a room
It’s wonderful to see so many other film geeks who love old movies. And B freaking movies at that.
I bet I have watched this 100 times
Who was the woman who played Rosetta? She was talented as well as beautiful while Mantan Moreland provided comic relief. Such a talented man.
Sybil Lewis
I don’t know where you are, by 30 seconds from now I’m gonna be 11 miles away from here!
Great film!
Cinema needs a true ‘return to form’ especially horror films.
Very entertaining. Yes, the comedic actor, who is black ,makes the show. I am black too, and yes we disavowed actors like him back in the 1970's, we saw the parts we were offered as demeaning. Now I reflect back the last 75 years and I have either softened or time has changed my perspective. He made the show! In fact, exceptionally good. History is history.
Why? What was he supposed to do in his profession? Did you also disavow Black musicians, singers, and dancers in the movies back then too? There were some like Spencer Williams who took another route. They produced so-called "race films" for Black audiences. Spencer was very good.

Awesome thank you for this! I adore this channel 🖤✊🏾
You rock!
1:30 When Avon was calling in 1943, you knew it.
I'll take these Old horror comedies any day compared to All the Gore they show nowadays!!!!
Same here.
Mantan Moreland was the star of this show to me!
@reelblack nice p!ay with the words, i even say clever use of words. I am learning about Mantan Moreland from your channel as well. Thank you for your work.
Thanks. &God bless.
❤❤❤best movie old horror..I will watch it again c yaa...
Thank You for these great Mantan Moreland classics!!!!!! I loved these movies as a kid....
If there ever were zombies, these guys would be it.
An early Gale Storm. Awesome.
He took be back with those ghost hymnals 😂🎶aaaah-oooooooooh🎶😂
Don’t know whether to laugh or break my phone.
I read a comment which said in pc times this is no longer acceptable and I thought that looks my next choice. John Carradine one of those rare actors who could turn his hand to any genre. I didn’t really recognise anyone else except Jeff who I remember from a Charlie Chan.
Bob Steele is in this, Western star who was in the classic TV Series F Troop
WALKING ZOMBIES GOOD , RUNNING ZOMBIES BAD . The Zombies in this movie are pertty close to correct . 😊P&P😊
Fun movie, brings back childhood memories.
Gostei muito e vou me inscrever agora mesmo por ser legendados em português, obrigado pela postagem.
Man, am I enjoying this!
Thankyou
A good line at dinner was "Lila, it's pretty soon to replace her, isn't it?". But after that Dr. Altermann says that he bought his excellent port in Spain. Odd, port is from Porto in Portugal. From Spain comes sherry(xéres). Carradine should have corrected the ignorant writers.
In the end, this is a better zombie movie than most with a twist at the end.
Jerry Lewis played the Mantan Moreland role in the later Zombie film "Scared Stiff."
I used to scare My sister after watching these in early 1950s.
57:50 And that my friend.... is how it all got started.
She's a strong black woman. She don't need no man.
@@anthonypuccetti8779 white society loves your take on it
@@emmetttill148 There is no white race and so called white society doesn't have a particular opinion on anything.
Good movie, even had humor, I've always like seeing John carradine, any of the carradine's actually, to me it stands the test of time. Best kind of zombies really slow😮
What fun to see Gale storm in this movie before she became a major television comedienne in the 50s.
Mantan Moreland briefly team up with Nipsy Russell, early in Nipsy career and late in Moreland career.
A sequel to King of the Zombies, yes? The two guys switching names made no sense. AH-OOOO-ooo
BLESSED DAY STAY SAFE
9:48 looks back out the window😂😂😂😂😂
Gale Storm--O Susana --she was great back in late 50' early 60s
Jeff could of been one of the three stooges
Always loved John’s long, striking face. He was very handsome.
Hello dear reader of comments,…
I went in search of RUclips standard modern ish treatments of zombie iconography, and after a very tough bout of other RUclips search it offered me this movie.
So I’m not really a horror genre devotee ( that’s the real Laurence Mardon character,..) but I feel like a victim of a zombie like form of contractual exploitation, where a fake premise gets continuously propagated at the expense of my interest in the contract for the housing being finally secured from an owners own use eviction scheme.
So I hope you like the movie!!😂❤🎉
Every morning on my way to the toilet I become a zombie after my BM I become a saint👍🏿
Great old movie🤩🤩💖
Mantan Morland was

I'm not sure what to think as far as what movie is the sequel to king of the zombies?
Miss Jessie, miss Jessie! Lighting done won the derby!
The zombies was wearing pretty nice footwear.
Just a zombie 🧟♂️ 🤣😂😂😂
//: Awesome talent color of color lol.
Lawd @ the bucking of the 👀
I’m looking through other movies that Mantan was in. For some reason I thought he just did Charlie Chan movies?
5:41--Zombie with a pack of smokes in his shirt pocket...
Nice film, but lesser than the far superior *King of the Zombies.* What's unacceptable is the blooper of "a nice port bought in Spain"... Port wine is a product of Portugal.
They don't sell port wine in Spain?? They do. Lots of it.
@@allenwatkins4972 You can (re)sell port even in New Guinea, if you want. Nothing's stopping you. But if you're making it sound like it is an *original* product of that region, than it's wrong. It's just like saying "i got these great cuban cigars... from Samoa". Port wine is produced in Oporto, and in fact some of their best reserves are sold (by the producers) *only* there. Of course, anyone can buy it and resell it anywhere else, but there'll be no garantees that it's the original thing. Hey, i know, i live in Portugal and have talked to people involved in it.
Yep. Wouldn't be much significance to saying you bought a Port in Spain. Would be like saying you bought a nice pair of Chinese binoculars in Jamaica or some good Japanese Wagyu beef at Safeway.
@@RockOfLions Yes, that was my point.
@@humbertojimmy I'm glad we're on the same page. My comment starting with "Yep" was meant to indicate that I was in agreement with your point.
I'm afraid the zombies are way too slow moving for the blitzkrieg. Hitler wouldn't have stood for it. Good movie though, I'm a Mantan Moreland fan. But them zombies movin' mighty slow there, boss.
All you people making your silly comments here think that zombies are just a movie creation! I worked in a chocolate factory up in Canada, and you have got to believe me, zombies are for real! Perfectly normal people, after working for long years in factories, turn into zombies!!! It is the horribly boring nature of the work that does this! I almost became a zombie myself, but I quit working before it could happen to me! Most assembly line factory workers have become zombies!😮☹️😮😦😧😯😵
Could you do any better Zu Ahzar?
The only redeeming quality of this movie is watching Mantan Moreland.
What, pray tell, is wrong with this movie RavelloBikes?
@@audreyricci6383 it sucks!
What became of the zombies.
So well dressed back then
The writing and directing is pretty awful. Zombies can’t talk, because they’re not breathing. Their stiffness or “rigor mortis” seems to disappear, when they roughing up someone. Mammy Beulah, played by Madame Sul-Te-Wan, has more lines than Mantan Moreland, in this sequel to “King of the Zombies.” Her character’s name was Mammy Beulah in “King of the Zombies, as well, but there’s no reference to her former “master,” on this strange “island.”
A movie like this is supposed to be fun , not beliveable.
I think king of the zombies was much better much better actors.
Love it. Get a swell job you don't need to get married... You still may want to marry🤔🤔🤔
Anybody who loves h. P Lovecraft Edgar Allan Poe should love scary movies now Roger corman is in the world beyond producing better movies than the garbage in Hollywood nowadays .
I know Moreland back hurt.
Too blurry to watch.
this reminds me of the movie "GET OUT" for some justified reason/... hmm..
