A year late watching this vid but started watching ur channel when jed Scott mentioned u on his channel. Just watching all channels u have out there. Great vid u have and be watching more vids u put out.✌🏼
That's a nice clutch stack it was all steel clutches and plates so that's very aggressive setup. Hard to find these days, most for sale now are using fiber clutches with steel plates. Great video 👍🏽
Buddy of mine rebuilt one of these while i watched ok so you can punch many lil marks or holes into the cone surfaces using a punch and a hammer where they slide on the discs surfaces that will help them grip eachother and make the positive traction work... he called it "an Italian Nurel job" his phrase but yup it worked good and we never replaced any discs....jus some trivial stuff...not saying its right to do but it did work! Lol
That was a good video on how to replace clutches on the sure grip unit, however I can't find a good video on RUclips on installing the sure grip unit in a 8 3/4 diff. If you haven't gotten to that yet, you think you could make a video like that? I got an open diff at the moment and want to buy a sure grip unit like that and install it in my diff. Don't wanna pay the exorbitant amounts people charge for an already assembled 8 3/4 sure grip diff, and can't afford to pay someone else to do it either...
I didn't do a video on installing the chunk in the housing because I had to read up on a lot of information myself and with also installing a crush sleeve eliminator I had to install and remove the pinion I dont know how many times before I had it where I was happy with it. If you dont need to mess with the pinion the install should be fairly simple and you would only have to mess with the side to side adjustment. See if you can find someone who knows what they are doing who wouldn't mind walking you through the process.
You forgot a very important part. The side gear and round piece are both splined for the axle shaft to pass through. Without lining these up before you tighten down the bolts the axle shaft may not line up and you wont know until you go to install the axle shafts.
I do have an extra set of 8 3/4 axles for my Charger that I can do that with. It will be some time before I can get the green bearings but I will do that.
The spacer would need to removed if Green bearings are being used. If the spacer is not removed the axles may not fully seat when bolted down (one of the sides).
Your clutch plate orientation is wrong. From the side gear, it goes, flat plate, flat disk, flat plate, dished plate, and dished disk. The concave side of the dished plate and dished disk are away from the side gear and toward the housing.
Hayden Hale My dad actually got this car in 1981 and held onto it. To get one today you would need somewhere in the range of 8k to 12k depending on the options and that may not be running. The market on these cars is not going to fall anytime soon and the price on good cars will always be going up so keep that in mind.
Paper Sack I realize I am a bit on the heavy side and I am working on that now. I have changed my diet and started exercising and have started to lose weight. I have noticed in a few of my videos I do sound a bit winded and I don't like that.
Just as a clarification..."long winded" refers to speaking a lot, rather than being out of breath. Personally, I like the way you try to clarify everything as well as you can - because I need all the help I can get!
It annoys me when I watch videos on how to do something and they don't explain it well enough and you have to still figure out stuff for yourself. That's why I try to explain as well as I can.
Best explanation on how to put together a Sure Grip. Clear. Concise straight to the point and not a lot of fluff. For the vid

Great video! Very helpful. Thanks.

What was the Summit part # on your clutch kit? Thx.

I haven't watched all the videos yet, but what was the problem with the old clutch?
Mark Verstappen I didn't know how old they were and it was out of the car so it was just easier to replace it to have the peace of mind.
Mark Verstappen Also the cone type suregrip that is in my Charger now is worn out.
Makes sense. Better safe then sorry,
dude please, how much was this car? when you first got it need to know how much iV gotta have to get one, a roller it even one in pieces

Very good work!
I got one that I can find the right bearings number please
I think some of the 8 3/4 rears have a cone clutch setup.
Yes, the cone type came out in 1969 I believe.
I am trying to put it in to a741
Look for a 741 rebuild kit and it should include the bearings
молодцы ))) я фанат таких машин , удачи вам ребята
I see burnout videos in your future. Lol.
😎👍
Little Bit my Ass, It's basically Junk !
stay away from the GREEN bearings
I've had green bearing installed in my Charger for several years with no issues.
Nothing wrong with the green bearings. Been running them in my big block Mopar for years.
I would find a complete unit. I would suggest not using this unit.
I've had this unit installed for a little more than a year with no issues and no noise.
Though I'm glad for these videos mate, but you're long winded.

He is wrong. You are not long winded.
Great video !!!! Very helpful. Thanks
