2:01 I'm surprised that I didn't see any comments about how cool it was that he tossed the knife with his tail and then caught it behind his back with his tail before placing it from his tail to his hand. Nice little touch.
By far my favorite detail from this whole movie was that the filmmakers went out of their way to create a sound effect for Nightcrawler's teleporting that actually sounds like, "Bamf!" From the comics! It's so cool and I can't help but mouth that every time I watch this scene
Unfortunately this shows the resourcefulness of a single mutant, who tore through the presidents finest and came so close to assassinating the man, and this mutant can just teleport.
I JUST got done talking to someone about exactly this. IMO singer's nightcrawler and mystique were THE best depictions of how OP mutants actually are... how they can turn ONE seemingly little power (short range teleportation and shapeshifting) into S-tier mayhem.
I always loved Nightcrawler so when I saw this at the theaters when I was a kid I thought it was the best thing ever. I still do. With modern day CGI and budgets they could elevate this criminally underrated character. :)
It is perfect simple as that .the pace the camera movement the music everything perfectly done.i don't think there is a better action sequence that showcases a character's ability in more complete and perfect way. Still blows my mind even today
This was a great scene. This is how you plan out something that's visually pleasing. Not a million shiny, CGI things, but a few things, well placed, in a context. Attention to detail and character are key here.
Many don't realize just how crazy this entire fight is. Every single one of Nightcrawler's teleportations had to be deliberate. Carefully selected choices that ensured he always had the upper hand. Especially during the final stretch were he took out everybody in not one but two crowded rooms filled with armed men. The precision Nightcrawler showed off is amazing.
Such an underrated gem. I wish they went a few second longer so they would show the part where it says "mutant freedom" on the knife. X-men has always been very political and it has a good message.

@@moonscar119 it was but this Nightcrawler scene is the best because we barely get to see Nightcrawler go to work in any of the movies we seen Wolverine be the best at what he does countless times
@@moonscar119 Yep...and Magneto's escape also.

Just saw Dark Phoenix. Needed to watch this scene and remember what great X-men movies used to look like
How was the movie?
@@saadat1009 appearently, it was bad, really bad. Honestly, it was.
@@saadat1009 not nearly as bad as people complain it is, it obviously didn't have much care put into it, but it's not a bad movie, not necessarily good either but that's subjective
I feel so bad for that movie. Fox is capable of making much better X-Men films than that.
@@logannottheonefrommarvel9917 The movie in production had issues, but the final nail on the coffin was Disney.
This is still one of the hands down best scenes on any comic movie. I love how he's using his telaportation to make them think there's more then one intruder.
Considering this was made in the early 2000’s it still holds ups. The effects are legit good and Nightcrawler’s deign is legit good he’s on par with Beasts design when it comes to on screen interpretations.
Alan Cumming The Best Nightcrawler ever
Dragon Ball 603 I’ve met him! He’s a absolutely charming and charismatic man
The best hands down
Omg, it’s him ?
@@FillipeMLima Yep and he's Scottish too. We claim him but not trump's mother LOL
No i think apocalypse nightcrawler is the best
This was like one of the coolest movie scenes of my childhood along with Neo stopping the bullets..
Balrog, underwater priates, and darth maul too.
The best scene (along with Quicksilver's kitchen action) in X-Men franchise
Joeshar I think that Auschwitz scene from X-Men: Apocalypse is the best one in the whole franchise.
Joeshar there u go
I still think this one is better than the Quicksilver scene.
He does similar things in Dark Phoenix! Just saw it. This is still one of the best scenes in all X men franchise.
This was the best scene in the original X-Men trilogy imo. I love Nightcrawler as a character and to see him introduced on screen in such an amazingly badass fashion was awesome.
After watching how AWESOME Nightcrawler was in Xmen 97 Ive just come to realize every moment hes ever had, whether Cartoon, Old movies or New movies, has been epic.
He is a fan favorite for a reason
YEP!
This scene right here Just shows you how much of a badass Nightcrawler is.
What a scene. I never really cared for the scars, but man...that IS Nightcrawler!
Wow this movie is 20yrs old….I loved this scene when it first came out. I was so captivated by it ❤
The CGI was actually really good. Epic scene indeed.
8/10
"Not enough flips."
Freshie cmon its 2003

This is probably one of my favorite childhood movies that wasn't animated. I've watched it so much times on video and would always replay this scene was so cool.
Among the best moments ever. Music was amazing and i love how Nightcrawler turned a whole room into a room of teleporting darkness. The first guard he encountered was cute
Nightcrawler has always been my favorite X-Men character, so sitting in the theater on opening night in 2003, the scene really got me pumped
such a badass its Nightcrawler
Florin Herlea ok
Best scene in all xmen movies and the best intro to a character in all movies.
Unfortunately this shows the resourcefulness of a single mutant, who tore through the presidents finest and came so close to assassinating the man, and this mutant can just teleport.
Yes! Shows what they could achieve if they want to conquer.
I JUST got done talking to someone about exactly this. IMO singer's nightcrawler and mystique were THE best depictions of how OP mutants actually are... how they can turn ONE seemingly little power (short range teleportation and shapeshifting) into S-tier mayhem.
And I think he knows kung foo too 🤣
20 years ago, i would never have thought that this scene would make the secret service look so much more competent than they really are.
He looks like a crip Hellboy😂😂😂
Omg that is amazing
Do you think he is a "kind of Hell Boy"?
Lol you don't have any idea of who is Azazel then
+Mauricio Javier no i know lol. I just thought the comment was clever
+TheFlyingTaco I know, I was talking to Josiah Alicea
+Mauricio Javier oh I apologize
Everything about this scene is pure perfection
Still waiting for a solo movie.
Izzy G. Me too my man, me too, with the same actor as well
I've always imagined *X-Men Origins: Nightcrawler* after the release of "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" from 2008. It will be called *THE DEMON PRIEST*
This scene could be released for the first time today and would still be breathtaking. Amazing how well it holds up.
20 years later and this still is one of the best openings in all superhero movies
1:54 my cat does this to me when I’m laying down
As someone who is a teleporter fan and a brother of faith with nightcrawler he has a blessing
The fight choreographer and stunt crew who worked on this scene DEFINITELY need to have more respect on their names
To all those poor souls that didn't had the chance to see this masterpiece at the cinema, hang in there buddy.
This scene alone is better than Dark Phoenix. It also ages really well.
Very true
100%
Actors too
Alan was amazing nightcrawler
Rebecca was amazing mystique
Storm too..
Best opening scene on a superhero movie ever.
This has to be the best X-men action scene of all the movies so far.
Best scene from the original trilogy (followed closely by Wolvie's rampage through the mansion). Why couldn't we have more of this?
I love the way security did their job well... And still didn't stand a chance.
Only those who first saw this back then as a kid know how extraordinary this scene was watching it for the first time!
Ladies and gentlemen
One of the single greatest openings
To a comic book movie
This is still, hands down, the greatest scene in any super hero film, to date.
If I heard right, he yelped when he was shot in the shoulder. Like a PUPPY
Yeah it was sad but kinda cute 😂😂😂
It was the sound of him teleporting -_-
@@coven1828 listen closely
@Aaron W. When he teleported he made the sound lmao
This scene was ahead of its time.
..
0:41 You can see the silver in his eyes
They need to give him a lot more credit on that
Best scene from any super hero movie yet
Shows you how bad hollywood has become
Quicksilver kitchen scene was pretty good too
Such an underrated gem. I wish they went a few second longer so they would show the part where it says "mutant freedom" on the knife. X-men has always been very political and it has a good message.
This scene displays how dangerous nightcrawler can be and I love it!
After all these years, this is still one of the coolest scenes.
Amen
Honestly love the bamf sound effect, Alan did a fantastic job
How strong is night crawler. He kicked a dude and he went flying across the room lmao
Well, yeah, but kicked with thw full momentum of teleporting. Idk how, but apparently he can control that.
@@ninjahombrepalito1721 he basically teleports to a high falling point and then teleports back to deliver the momentum from the fall.
@@tritebs1673 that would take longer than a fraction of a second. Also, he would not be able to teleport to free falling and then back to not free falling.
Thats not strength, thats momentum.
One of the best entry scene ever done for a cbm character..
I like that Nightcrawler is actually like a Beta level power classification compared to some of the truly OP members of the X-Men, but he is one of the most badass and useful characters you would want on your side in a battle.
X-2 was my favorite of the X-Men movies and this one scene is better than all the other movies imo.
20 years later, Jujutsu Kaisen once again shows how a teleporter with martial arts can utterly dunk on people with flashier abilities
Nightcrawler is a gymist acrobatic.
18 years later and still BADASS!!
