If you use freshly roasted coffee that was medium roasted within the last 2 weeks, use a high quality burr grinder such as the Baratza Encore and use a digital scale accurate to the tenth of a gram to weigh the grounds going in and the liquid espresso coming out, your quality of shot will improve a million times over. Weigh the shot coming out to between 1-1.5 times the weight of the grounds you put into the shot. Try that and let me know how it goes!
When you get the shot coming out in total between 25-30 seconds and it weighs around 1.5 times the amount of the grounds you put in, that's when you'll know you have it dialed in, but without a really good burr grinder it's pretty much impossible.
Hey, thanks for the info. I'm not that into espresso, so I'll probably not do this. I do more than I want currently, lol Clean portafilter in sink Grind beans into portafilter Tamp grounds Run clean shot into cup Clean out cup in sink Add hot water to cup Insert portafilter Wipe fallen grounds Put paper towl in trash Extract double shot Enjoy my Americana 😋 I love the flavor of espresso, but I'm kinda lazy when it comes to making coffee. It's probably because I came from an automatic coffee maker that did all this for me. 🤷♂️
I appreciate your review. As mentioned earlier, it’s one of few. This and a few other reviews from people who also got great results. encouraged me to purchase the machine, I’m sure Wirsh appreciated that. Sadly, the one I got did not work so well. It does not get hot enough to pull a proper shot or steam milk. I have worked as a barista, so I know enough to know it’s not right and I’ve followed the manual to the T to make proper adjustments. I’ve exchanged it and the replacement is the same. I reached out to Wirsh customer service hoping for help and they did not follow up. I don’t normally get in the comments, but I want to love this company and machine. Anyone else reading here have similar experience? Thoughts?
you only want 9bar of pressure for espresso. those 20bar machines pull way too much pressure for a correct shot. thats why its pulled in like 7 seconds rather than 20 plus seconds. you want low bar and long pulls for max extraction
@@AtHomewithLucasnope. You don't need another coffee machine. You need a coffee scale, and a grinder. I don't know the one that you have, but the grinder is the key to the perfect shot. They're pricey though, you can get a manual one. I suggest timemore c3, it's a mid-range grinder for espresso. Always keep the amount of coffee constant, and adjust your grinding coarse in order to get a good brewing time. I'm pretty sure that your coffee machine is fine.
Your review is the best of the best and is making me place my order right now 😊 Now I can’t wait to be able to do my own espresso and lates for the wife. 💪
Thanks so much for doing a comprehensive and detailed review on the Wirsh expresso machine! I just purchased this model after researching many models in the similar price range and your video certainly gave me confidence and helped me in making my decision. I also have the same burr grinder which helped give me a better sense of the results. By far this is one of the best espresso machine reviews I have come across! Really appreciate that your one of the few people that has even reviewed this unit!
Not coarser, other direction. Finer. Your grinds on your 1st two tests look too coarse. Also, fresh (New) whole ground beans with higher gas content will boost your crema head off the charts
I really appreciate this full review. Prior to this I watched another video you made of this machine. I will most likely order this. However, Is this a favorite machine for the under $300.00 range. Also do you need to order the extra portafilter?
If I'm being honest I'd buy the Breville espresso machine that this is based on. It's just over $300 with tax. But you won't be sorry you did. But if you want to stay under $200 then definitely buy this machine. And no you don't need to buy anything extra.
No, you should use a few settings from the finest grind. But it will all come down to your grinder. Making a great espresso extraction requires you to figure out your equipment.
This isn't really an upgrade from their old one...still crappy 51 portafilter, no single walled baskets, and 20 bar is too much.also all those accesories dont cone with it like the bottomless.
@@AtHomewithLucas Don't worry the brand of coffee you're using also has espresso blend I believe it's called Havana espresso . Lavazza crama gusto is a good brand to get your feet wet. Then you can find a brand that work for you!! Be well and have fun!!!!!!
Very useful review to learn what NOT to buy. Although it's not clear if it's due to the lack of skill/knowledge or due to the machine. Dude has no idea what "serious baristas use nowadays" (Hint: it is not a 51mm porta filter, it's 58mm), or what "pre-infusion" is (hint: it is not "getting the machine ready to go" but pre-infusing the coffee with low pressure, before the actual high pressure extraction occurs...). "Perfect uniform grind" huh. Touch panel? (call them buttons). Accessories that "come with it" and "that you have to buy extra" are all mixed up. Sorry dude.

Clean portafilter in sink
Grind beans into portafilter
Tamp grounds
Run clean shot into cup
Clean out cup in sink
Add hot water to cup
Insert portafilter
Wipe fallen grounds
Put paper towl in trash
Extract double shot

Did you buy the other things (ontop of the box in the beggining) separate or do they come included
Oh, sorry, I bought them separately. The links are in the description of the video if you want to check them out.

Why does water come out of the milk frother?
So you can froth milk
nice vid but i thought for espresso u need fine grounds
oh since 9bar is ideal and this is 20barr that means we have to use coarser ground iguess?
Yes, you are. But not too fine or you'll clog the filter, or it will taste bad.

nv m just saw ur new vid on how to make better espresso with that machine

What’s so crappy about that size?
@@Mikey-ym6ok standard is 58 and holds more coffee
@robertwilliams5618 Yes, the current espresso machine I use (Wirsh Bean to Espresso) has a 58 portafilter, and it's amazing.
The coffee you’re using isn’t right for espresso. That’s for Americana🎉❤

20 bar?! 11 bar more than it should be, then?
NO HE IS NOT HE DOES EXPLAIN WHY WATER COMES OUT OF THE MACHINE AND WHY IT COMES OUT OF THE FROTHER! Another guy EXPLAINED EEEVREETHING!!
Who are you talking to? Lol sorry I'm confused
You are using the wrong type of coffee. The one you are using is for a drip machine.
Oh really, why do you say that? I'm new to espresso, so I don't know all the tips and tricks.
Who says it’s wrong?
