This is astounding! But now, I formally demand a documentary on Oakey's 1999 Radio One Essential Mix World Tour. As a teenager these 12 sets defined my life in a profound way. They infused so much energy, hope excitement, thrill, and (of course) BPM into my crazy and uncertain life at the time. I have listened to each of his 1999 sets over, well, 99 times since hearing them live over the Internet as an angsty teenager. Not kidding. They return me to that place of child-like glee, excitement, and anticipation for what this crazy life has to offer. Paul Oakenfold, thank you for being you, thank you for playing such amazing and many times outside-the-box tracks that thrill crowds and bring smiles. NOW BEGINS - the 20th anniversary of Oakenfold's 1999 World Tour !!!! In 9 days of writing this (January 17, 2019), we'll begin this 20th year celebration.... two decades after Oakenfold and the legendary Pete Tong took to the skies to share trance, EDM, goa, and everything in between to the globe , all beginning in Sydney Australia. Set your calendar reminders!!! This is a great place to start www.nightclubber.com.ar/foro/12/sets/15471/paul-oakenfold-essential-mix-worldtour-1999-12-sets-1-5gig.html. P-p-p-p-p-p-p-p-aaaaaul O-o-o-o-o-oakenfold! P A U L !
I agree. Btw... I was the one who collected over years all of Oaky's world tour sets in order to share them on the community djmixes2k. It was very hard to get a decent copy of each set as some sets were nicely sent to me by mail on cd from USA, Serbia or Hungary. The Trance community is still something special.
Nice to see Eleven on 93.3 here in Denver get some love in this! Before Satellite radio it was the only way to hear electronic music like this over the air!
So glad Paul has posted this. In November 2001 I jumped on a plane from Manchester UK to NY for Trancegiving at The Hammerstein. Being a time of pre-mobile video phones I never thought I'd get to see or re-live that moment ever again. I remember every part of that footage. Paul opening with GLAD-I-ATE-HER into Iio - Rapture. ...amazing, simply amazing!
Absolutely love it Paul suck a beautiful tracks and story i feel like i was there even though i was a kid and too young to go 😢 please keep doin what u are doing for along as u can u was such a big part of my childhood dude thank u ur music got me through some tough times
The newsletter brought me to the previous documentary. But thanks to youtube search i've found this. Thanks for the upload. This is the Oakenfold I'd like to remember forever.
1st heard Oakenfold around 1997 , I think around Tranceport time frame . As teenager in the USA I was reading all the UK music magazines trying to learn about newest Trance/House/DnB , because it hadn’t quite caught on in states minus acts like The Crystal Method, Moby, etc . Here we are 2022 and “EDM” has practically influenced every other genre out there . No longer for ravers and cliche groups, but huge mainstream festivals and popular kids eating it up.
The Good Old Days, But come on, We are all still living in the here and the now, New Tunes are being created by Paul and Perfecto, His new stuff is podcastsed and are on sound cloud weekly for free, So the Good days are still here, you just got to go out and relive the dream of letting yourself go on the dancefloor and find your inner self once again, your still you, the music is still doing it to people, The Good old day are what you talk about when your past it, I'm not past it and still living the dream, Keep on cooking up a storm Cheff, aka Paul Oakenfold, See you in London Paul !
Godfather of Trance...I wish to go back 20 years from now.
Need I say it....Back in the good old days.
I first heard Paul Oakenfold from a track that I downloaded from Napster in 1999, and 20 years later I’m still a trance head.
