  • Getting service-connected for back pain can be a pain in the neck, literally!
Many veterans have gone to the VA with back injuries and neck pain only to be denied a service connection and therefore denied VA disability benefits. We know, because we’ve helped them win their appeals.
Part of showing the VA that you deserve a disability rating is showing how your condition affects your daily life.
In this video, one of our certified VA disability lawyers explains how the VA rates neck and back pain. She explains how your complete health story plays into your VA decision and how to make sure the VA gives you a fair hearing.

I had back surgery about 7 years ago when I was 86 years old. I am still having back pains and neck pains. I was given 20% disability rating. I am trying to fight this rating. it is unfair to me.

When I submitted my well developed claim online, there was only an option for cervical strain. I have radiculopathy, DDD, Narrowing etc in my neck, which is included in my documentation and VA MRIs. How do I get consideration for ratings for the radiculopathy etc or is it added automatically, due to the documentation, even though I didn't list it as secondary's?

It's hard to fully answer this question without knowing the specifics of your claim. However, to obtain a secondary service connection, you need to file a VA application claiming service connection for these health issues. You must be able to prove these issues are caused by or made worse by a service connected health condition through medical evidence. We'd be happy to further discuss your case with you to see if we can help. We're at 800-544-2108, or you can request a free consultation at: www.woodslawyers.com/contact/?.com&+and+back
