In Brazil we stabilize whipped cream with a little os sweetened condensed milk and a little milk powder, it holds the texture and doesn’t separate even when it’s really hot in here, we use to decorate birthday cakes.

@@LauraintheKitchen hello Laura, I love this recipe and want to try another but the recipe is different then the video, your wild rice pilaf. In the video you use black wild rice and basmati but the recipe only says 1cup wild rice. It looked like you used 3/4 c wild and 1/4 c basmati?!?

I LOVE strawberry shortcake! I make it with a storebought cake mix too, but I use the French Vanilla one and it just adds the most wonderful flavor 😋 I also use pudding mix and sour cream and it makes a world of a difference 😍 love your videos, Laura!

I'm going to try this with lemon cake mix since I bought many on clearance after Easter.
❤❤❤oh my gosh! This was sooo... Good. I used the scratch yellow cake recipe you referenced and added the pudding mix and sour cream and extra eggs as shown and wow, everyone was blown away! It looked gorgeous and tasted fabulous. I went the extra mile and quickly piped some simple star tip mounds all around the perimeter of the cake and added a star mound above each green leaf accent. This is a definite winner. Thank you for sharing this recipe.
I made this but because of a food allergy couldn’t use strawberries. I figured as long as I was using raspberries I might as well use lemon pudding mix instead of vanilla. It was delicious!! Thank you for always giving me great recipes. Everything I make from your site is a hit!

I made this for my daughters 2nd birthday and I swear my brother in law ate half the sheet! It's a go to recipe now. And of course it's even better when you get fresh hand picked strawberries from the farm in season

This was definitely missing something and it took me some playing around with to figure out what was missing. I made 2 different sheet cakes then added some homemade strawberry glaze in between the 2 cakes then covered with cool whip. The strawberry glaze made a huge difference! It gave it an overall better flavor, added richness to the middle of the cakes and tasted amazing! The cake seemed a bit too dry for my liking without the added glaze.

Hey Laura, is there anyway you could create some videos covering the topic of Make Ahead and then Freeze for Convenience meal prep ideas? I am really interested in ways to spend say an entire weekend prepping and freezing portioned proteins etc and then having a simple dinner by just grabbing parts from the freezer. Is instant pudding the same as powdered custard in uk ?
Yes
You could find Laura's recipe for her vanilla pudding mix at 1017 on RUclips. I live in Northern Ireland and I reckon it's more cornflower than custard cause the custard would make it yellow. I hope this helps. x

I am confused. In your video you say to use a yellow cake mix, with your changes obviously. But when I go to the written recipe on your website, it calls for a vanilla cake mix. So which is best to use?
It's whatever your preference, shortcake is usually yellow, so I would use yellow
