- Oliver Bjorkstrand led the offence in Game 7 with a pair of goals and Philipp Grubauer had another massive night in net with 33 saves as the Seattle Kraken completed a massive series upset over the defending champions Colorado Avalanche, winning 2-1.

@@Tomny977 It's boring. Anyone who knows anything about football knows Man City will win the League eventually and Arsenal are frauds. Even so, there are only about 2 or 3 teams that can win the League in any given year. Just follow the money and you can predict it. In the NHL, I literally go into every season without a clue of who will win the Stanley Cup - and I absolutely positively love it. I'd trade yours for ours in a heartbeat!
@@jediknight5600 I agree, that the predictability in NHL is much lower. I would say, in general, this is the case in all American top sports leagues, such NFL, NBA,... I was wondering why. And, I think that a big part of that is caused by Salary Caps and Drafts, where basically the biggest loser in one season, gets the biggest prospect for the next seasons.
@@Tomny977 part of it is the nature of hockey as well. You can get lucky or bad bounces either way, but even more importantly, unlike in other sports, your best player can’t have the puck the entire game. The best players aren’t on the ice for even half of the game, never mind in a position to dictate the play for that long. It’s a team sport and makes for great entertainment.
Sabres fan here... Congratulations to Kraken fans.. Winning your first play off series and that too against the defending Stanley Cup champs on the road in a Game 7 is an incredible achievement.
What a mind blowing first round of play offs - 3 Cup Contenders eliminated in back to back days , just like that.

Exactly, with how many times the Av's hit the post if they went in they would've won. Not to mention the missed call in game 6 on McKinnon which lead to a goal for Seattle. Hats off to the Kraken though, they definitely deserve the win.
Today has to be the most bonkers day in hockey.

I would disagree…if your team gets in, anything can happen…with the salary cap in place, teams aren’t as far as they appear, we’ve seen it already in the 1st round.
If my fav team wasn’t in it I’d be pretty upset because maybe just maybe if they get hot they can make a run of it.

Tent city in Seattle was a rocking place last night!
Kraken 110% earned the win. Zero sense in being sour, we got a cup. Top to finish this year was difficult and I am amazed we made it this far.
Certainly not the same team as last year, injuries/trade etc all took their toll.
Way to go Kraken from up in Vancouver BC , This is great for the Pacific Northwest Region

I don’t know how many times it has to happen before people truly realize that hockey is an underdogs sport. Destroying all time records in the regular season will never be looked at as an unstoppable team in the playoffs ever again after Boston and Tampa both lost with their presidents trophies.
Avs, Lighting, and Bruins out in first round. I didn't see THAT coming lol. This makes for a super interesting playoffs. How wild would an oilers leafs final be!

Yup I was so confused
That threw me off so much! I was convinced they scored AFTER the disallowed goal, and then wondered why the weren't updating the scoreboard afterwards... then it clicked.

Strange way to edit the highlights, anybody else get confused on how they showed no goal, and then showed the goal? I thought it was 2-2 and that was a seperate play.

My dad and I predicted that Ollie was gonna be a star in the NHL back when he played for the Winterhawks. That was a helluva team they had. Lots of amazing players who had the stuff to play on the big stage. Bjorkstrand had a smooth quality about him. Reminded us a bit of Gretzky. We're so happy for him.
Honorable mentions: Ty Rattie, Nick Petan, Matt Dumba, Brenan Leipsic.... and all the rest of the men who made up the operation.
I feel like all the teams that were expected to lose are winning their series now (like the panthers, leafs, and now kraken)

Best 1st round ive seen since i started watching at age 10. There have been so many surprises and moments. I cannot WAIT for the rest of these playoffs.
yup this is the craziest 1st round i've witnessed too. half of the series going to game 7 and man oh man just what a crazy weekend of hockey
Been a high scoring playoffs all around in all series so far. I also notice many many deflection goals where goalies have no chance.
What a crazy first round it's been, Toronto, Seattle, Canes and Panthers through to round two. I don't think many would have predicted this and the defending champs being knocked out so early.
I'm rooting for you Kraken to win the second round against Stars.

I feel sorry for the Avs, in particular Gabriel Landeskog, because it must be so rough to be injured and not being able to help his team. Must be the worst feeling in the world.
Good hustle by Seattle. Grubauer has notably grown with the task mentally. Last season was one long baptism of fire getting all those goals against with minimal help or backups. Hope they'll make it an interesting series against the Stars.
You can definitely count on it them making it interesting vs. The stars next round.

Leafs advance to the 2nd round after 19years, Avs get knocked out by an expansion team and the boston bruins after the best season in NHL history with an astounding 65 wins, gets stunned by the panthers in the 1st round. This is a dream.

Incredible! The underdogs, the Seattle Kraken, defeat the defending Stanley Cup champions in game 7!! What a closely fought game and series!!
Last year, I wanted Colorado to win the Stanley Cup because I didn't want Tampa Bay to get a third consecutive Stanley Cup!
Last year, the Kraken were close to the bottom of the NHL, but this year they qualified for the playoffs AND won their first round series!!
