Sheer class - very nicely done. If you're still providing details on the construction and programming after the many, many requests I've read below I'd like them.
To solartroniks and Laith, You are very welcome to copy this, however I warn you, I think you might find it quite difficult. The software in the 2 PICs is written specifically for the hardware, so you really need to understand assembler to be able to modify it to suit your particular hardware, and I am using a modified Humax 5400 sat box, I dont have information to modify another box, just that one.
I like it can it be use for internet, or you think it's possible to use the lower profile dish trac vision, for inter net my thinking is to mount it a an aircraft if it works, people I have spoken to have told it works great while car is in motion, would like to share your thoughts on this if possible
Mr Brian, could you tell me the NIM module used in this satellite receiver and the pin number you attched your I/O port, in order to read the lock status? I would like to reproduce your results...
I watched this teardown video and I think you can get the part number of the modules here ruclips.net/video/JSnTLh06n0w/видео.html This is modules in the above video www.mikrocontroller.net/attachment/98303/TD1316AS_Desc.pdf www.mikrocontroller.net/topic/204811 It seems on there's no 'lock' pin on the modules but there's a lock flag in the status register. You can communicate with the module through I2C.
The satellite doesn't move, the dish just has to find the right spot and stay there. You could use a PC if you are able to program it, you also would need an interface to allow the computer to drive the motors, read the limit switches and check the Satellite receiver.
I was very interest to see your satellite project, as i've been thinking of something similar myself, as i live in the UK my dish would have to be almost vertical which presents its own problems. The software solution and interface to control the motors, is written in assembler which i have experience of the hardware controls outside the receiver appears to be dedicated to controlling the motors only?. I would be most grateful if you would share your software and hardware solutions.
is there a way to use an "dish" Satellite to make this? it's just sitting up there useless ... I could take it down and get creative, just curious ... your video is just badass . what you've done is amazing and this shows what type of individual you are😃 when you share this amazing technology and your not even asking for anything youR just givING out the information... wow !! thank you your Humanity😆 now let's rebuild America we need more people like you. ... FREE ENERGY, CARS THAT RUN ON H2O ,FREE SATELLITE ,CLEAN WATER ,NON POISONOUS HEALTH CARE AND WE CAN MAKE THIS COUNTRY SUSTAINABLE. ......😆 well hey rod of the government also lol 😂
hi Mr. Brian, what you have done here is great, we would like to ask your help on what Antenna Controller you have used if you can give us the model number, thank you.
Mr. Brian, It seems you get the lock signal direct from the related satellite tuner pin... Is that right? what about your search pattern? Do you use a specific algorithm?
You are right, the search pattern is quite simple Set the elevation low, rotate 180 degrees, set elevation slightly higher, rotate back 180 degrees etc
Hi Brain this is a good work, I want to know how the PIC knows that your have locked on a satellite, do you read the SNR from the satellite receiver or you get a signal from the lock LED
My system reads the lock signal from the decoder chip in the receiver, but the lock LED should also work as long as it is very quick. I found the lock signal was much quicker.
No details for recreate? Looks very equatorial ;-). A "professional" self-positioning antenna with parts from the 3D printer would be good. How much do commercial self-aligning satellite antennas cost to manufacture ... It may be worth building it yourself.
I have watched this video, quite a lot.. I am working on the similar system as my final year project. The only difference is that I am using DC motor and a linear actuator. Can you please help with the algorythm that you used. I am sure is it the exact one I need to track satellite on my project. Can I have you email, so that I will send more information about it.
hi ...Clyton “Clambo” Mundeng ..iam working on the similar final year project also, my you please send me the documents, schematic and program codes..we can discuss the amount on this email..tkeliakim@gmail.com...thank you in advance...
i need your help pls share with me the controller is working to find or track a satellite because i try but my dish is not stable and the motor is no stop when they actually find the signals
Trying to do this with a simple Arduino Uno. Not super good with microcontrollers, but Ima try and put in the effort. :) I'm trying to turn an old antenna rotation box, which I've mounted a solar panel to, with the use of an Arduino. I have to move the box manually at the moment. Came out a little better than I thought. I want to eliminate the 110v box that the programming comes in. Can I get rid of this box and replace the tuner with an Arduino to move to a certain degree and have the system stand alone using 12v? I'm just starting to get into hacking stuff and it's fun. I hope I've been clear on this enough for you to point me in the right direction. Basically I'm wanting to make a solar tracker and hook the rotator motor up and be controlled by the microcontroller. Any suggested websites? Diggin your set up, Man.
Brian Healy :) Now that I haven't been up for 20 hrs. I'm wanting to replace the control box that comes with the AR500 with an Arduino programmed to rotate the motor at a given time. The motor requires 3 connections. I'm guessing +, -, and a signal wire. It runs 18v to the motor. So I'm assuming I'll need to run a relay from the battery to the motor for that part, right? Like you say though... as long as you're having fun doing it. :) Thanks for the reply, Brian.
snd with your Build i hav test by manual but no respond of Signal now I need The Controller in The humax an The Relay Controller on The Parabol Table a Manual where be Great of Your Controller ore a Layout to make a Print
excuse me mr brian, i am a telecomunication student from indonesia, u make a very good project, i really want to understand how it works. can i get scemathic or diagram block of this project? im tryng to make similar project for my school. thank you so much for uploading this video, such a very good things :)
This is not a new system. If you refer old text book you can see the list of inclination & diclination of horizon to horizon (East to west )how to construct a mound faising to orbit location. anyway congratulations for new effort. Thank you very much.
To Cyberscitymaste, It could be done, but too difficult to communicate all the info you would need. I am in Australia, somewhat different situation to where you are.
Hello sir. I am a building a project like this but I'm finding hard to find a dish elevator. Could you suggest me an online store where I can buy it? Your response is very much appreciated. Thanks much! 😊
Man, I got to tell, CONGRATULATIONS!!!, great job!
Extremely nice work! Thanks!
Brian you are just beyond awesome!
Good Job! I Was searching and you did it WoW!!! Thanks buddy
Sheer class - very nicely done. If you're still providing details on the construction and programming after the many, many requests I've read below I'd like them.
I like it 😊 We want to see More Complete same Video About Part Which is and how to Assemble it
awesome video! Maybe i will attempt to build one of these.
I admire your work, can you send a picture of the exact location where you found the lock signal on the satellite device.
Awesome, I want to build one for a Boat, with accelerometer, magnetometer and gyro.
Where can I buy it? It's amazing!

Very well done , i also like to know more about this project .
Is it possible to give in some presets , like elevation between 25 and 30º ?
trustmie it

Very neat !! How do you rotate the LNB to adjust the skew?
I don't adjust it, where it is,works fine for all sats here in Australia, we only have 4 satellites, fairly close together.
The satellite doesn't move, the dish just has to find the right spot and stay there. You could use a PC if you are able to program it, you also would need an interface to allow the computer to drive the motors, read the limit switches and check the Satellite receiver.
can you explain the elevator mechanism in more detail?

Hi Brian Luv your work.
Have you got a unit for sale now? and cost thanks.
I'm in oz would have made the bass from acrylic!
I wish someone built those or at least kits. Would buy one for sure.
hi brian can you give me as much info as you can on programming the pic16f88 as i am trying to make the same set up for use on my caravan roof
When will you start selling it on Ebay? You could offer it as a kit, disasembled. I´d be glad to get one.

Awesome!!!!!! I would like to ask how is called this music (BGM MUSIC)?
Thanks!!!
Thanks Ivo, the music is automatically generated by my editing program Corel VideoStudio X4
Brian Healy Thats Ok my friend. I appreciate your video and it music! Fantastic!!
Incredible, very nice. This is the Just I need. Can you send me some detail? So thanks.
Share detailed working and construction

what about the efficiency of the signal, how did you deal with?
PlEASE i'm in so need to this answer.
Sorry Ibrahim, I don't really understand your question. Do you mean does it work ?
I mean how it detects the signals from the specified satellite?
Ibrahim K
Ibrahim K This is explained in my description
Please show your Receiver and what you have modified where To by The Pic for Astra Hotbird Satellite
give mor Info please

Dear friend how can we access the schema of the board and program
nice ,how much the price , ?please show me the link so we can buy it ,thanks
Excelente, vamos fazer uma aqui no Brasil, tendo como base este projeto!
can you advise which 12 v motors you used please
Jaycar Motor model YG-2732
12 VOLTS 72 RPM, but I am running it at 8 volts
great job i lov it ................... how can i buy in pakistan
Hey
Its possible to use the Pc for control?
I ned a Dish who follow the Sat automatecly.
THX!

Have you made it available for commercial sale? Please send me details
Are these over the air stations that you are receiving?
+Kevinthewiseone They are free satellite stations, some of the Australian stations require a card, but they are all free

pretty sure that's tom thum at 1:30 - ruclips.net/user/tomthummer
He probably means that way he could use the sattelite while HE is moving.
To OnlyTomboller, this was built as a personal challenge, what is your email
Can I get your email? I need your help with similar project
If you want a job I've got one for you in VSAT Telecommunications.
Paul, give me your email and I might talk to you a bit, Brian
