I've owned TB, Razer, Steel Series, Astro gaming headsets priced $150-300, and other headsets priced $500+ for music. The Audeze Maxwell is incredible. They're basically the perfect blend with little compromise. The 80hr battery life is INSANE - who needs two batteries (Steel Series) when a single charge overnight will probably last all week. Wicked Cushions are a must though - b/c the stock pads are too shallow.
@@lexx348 Yep, I had connection issues and channel issues one being louder than the other. The breaking point was the mic quality and sidetone. I returned 2.
@@shonole If you watch Z reviews video on Sony is buying Audeze get goes over EXACTLY why the maxwells are worth the money. Plus I personally want the headphones before the sony suits take over. Don't get me wrong I have a pair of WF-1000XM5s and WH-1000XM5s, so I'm not worried too much. The PS and xbox versions of the maxwells are different.
Im happy to see that gaming headsets are starting to focus more on audio as well since most of the time a dedicated pair of headphones is superior. Im no audiophile so it makes no significant difference to me but I can understand other people's excitement
I wouldn't say gaming headsets are generally started to focus more on audio quality, it's just Audeze being audiophile company at first place know how headphones should sound. I am and audiophile, and Maxwell is pretty aggressively priced even comparing to a good quality headphones. No wonder Sony has bought them recently.
@@snowmean1 I would like to know how the sound quality of these headphones compares to more mainstream headphones like the Apple Airpods Max and the Sony XM5. Do you have any idea, maybe you have tested them or used them as you are an audiophile. I would like to know.
@@scale...3d they sound better than most and eq really well thanks to being planars which is handy. certainly better than anything else with bluetooth at 350 bucks except for weirdos like the kef mu7 maybe.
For those that miss the memo Audeze just got bought by the PlayStation division of Sony, but is being allowed to continue operating as they were in the Headphone space. I would expect to see an official PlayStation version of these before too long
@@jaaayyymannnif you're still wondering my friends said it was the worst mic I had so far, compared to the nova pro and arctis pro wireless. Sidetone static/hiss was a deal breaker for me.
I have this headset, have had it for a few months now. I love it. I can and have worn it all day without issue, and the sound and battery life is just great. A perfect headset for me.
that sound coming from headphone at 2:07 is caused by side tone. when place the headphone on the external mic it keeps repeating the audio received constantly and becomes high pitched . hope this helps
I think im one of the few people that doesn't really like wicked cushions. They are heavy, the fabric that touches your skin is scratchy and just not comfortable. They also heat up really fast and end up making the headset hotter than what the stock pads did. I also think 90% of their designs are ugly as sin 😅 However the maxwell is great 👍 so is the nova pro though
@@ellismccoybecause there is limited bandwidth in a wireless connection. You either have to sacrifice on mic quality or sacrifice on sound quality. It’s just the limit of the current tech.
@@cha0ss0ldier-4 That can be fixed by using a faster codec for bluetooth. You just need to spend extra to have a system/phone and headset that supports them. Using an older bluetooth standard is also a no no.
The built in mic made you sound like you were talking with a lisp. And I have a pair of planar earbuds that can sometimes get humm with my head in a certain position in a specific seat, I think planar are prone to picking up EM frequencies
Planar drivers emit EM since thats how they make sound. But it's possible that they emit more em than dynamic drivers since planar diaphrams tend to be bigger
They have a high class build quality. Sometimes things like peels can happen but if you want to see terrible build quality, look at the cheaper HifiMan headphones.
What people don't realise is how important these headphones are. They punch way above their weight. At 300 these are the best wireless headphones hands down. I retired 3 headphones from my desk coz of these; a 6XX, DT770 and a 58X. Only these and an HD800 remain on my desk now. I even use these on the couch for late night movies. It is not an exaggeration. These are the best gaming headsets right now, the fact that they are wireless is just icing on the cake.
9:11 - Happened to me within 2 weeks of owning them. Just turned on the headset and joined Discord with 7 Friends already talking and for some reason the headset set the volume at 100 instead of the 24 I always keep them at.
How was the QC? Mine was pretty sheet. Every pair had some cosmetic defects, one even had the cable routed to the left ear speaker - come down and tug between the earcups. I was soo afraid to cut the cable because of that like a scissor!
i bought these when they first came out last year, and they are the best headsets I have ever owned, hands down. i have 2 sets of wicked cushions, and keep them in my mini fridge in the office. if i ever notice them getting warm, i swap them out. super over excessive, but i got a deal to buy 2 on amazon, so it was worth it.
I mean most “gaming” wireless headsets have mediocre or downright bad audio quality with a mediocre mic, so if this thing can actually have good sound quality it’s still ahead in my books
Oh the boom mic was pretty good, I just meant the other one sounded awful, like definitely worse than most gaming headset mics. Which is ok I guess, it's only as a backup for when traveling & you don't want the boom mic making you look like a dweeb. It's just a shame it makes D sound like he's got a horrendously strong lisp!
I recently moved from the Hyperx Orbit (basically a rebadged Mobuis) to the Maxwell due to the bad build quality of the orbit/mobuis which is the worst that I've seen so far in the headphone world (and I have owned and tried to ALOT of headphones, both HIFI and gaming). With that said, I honestly think that out of the box the Orbit/mobuis in terms of tonality and bass performance sounds much better than the maxwell while the maxwell is much more detailed but very lean in the bass region, bright and a bit fatiguing IMO. So, I have been playing with the EQ in the audeze software for a while now attempting to make it sound rounder, warmer with punchier bass and I'm liking the results so far. Here is the EQ settings I'm using right now for both music/gaming which I recommend for everyone to give it a try : 32hz: -1db 64hz: 6db 125hz: 2db (or 1db) 250hz: -3db 500hz: -5db 1Khz: -2hz 2Khz: -2hz 4Khz: -3hz 8Khz: -5hz 16Khz: from -6db to -9 (your taste)
I’ve tried this headset and I have to disagree about the imaging. You said imaging is great, but I tried this headset extensively and imaging is good at best, but not great. There are many other headsets out there that are miles better at imaging. Yes the overall sound quality is amazing and probably the best headset for that, but to me they’re more aiming at music listening for that and not gaming. It just happens to have very well tuned planar magnetic drivers that suits most games as well as music, but as someone who mostly plays FPS games, imaging is definitely not something I’d buy this headset for Well tuned SteelSeries Nova 7 is not far off in sound quality in games and it has great imaging and it’s literally half the price of the Audeze Maxwell
@@HardwareCanucks Oh yeah the resolution on the Maxwell is top tier, but for gaming do you really need top tier resolution? In my opinion as long as a headset has pleasant and good sound for gaming and great imaging, it’s definitely worth a go, but for pure resolution I have high end studio headphones for that Either way, overall it is a high end gaming headset, depending on use case Keep up the great work my man. I love your energy in the videos 😎
there's certainly the quality but the most insane thing about this is I charge it once every 7 days! I had a Steelseries but I was put off with how much software and setup it had and at first sounded robotic. With Audeze, I plugged it and played and with the software, I can play with EQ.
Btw the screamy artifact noise you hear is cause when you unplug the removable mic and use the internal mic, it’s really sensitive to touch so what i do is turn off side tone so that doesn’t happen. And yes you can unscrew the headband screws to adjust it
What happens if you position the microphone arm's capsule farther away from the mouth? Will you get less of a proximity effect? I wanted a microphone that sounded like a studio condenser microphone, but microphones that attach to the boom arm or stand alone on top of the desk are stationary and I need to be able to move my head and body around from time to time. And of course, I could see myself using this headset for making/receiving phone calls, so having Bluetooth is great to have. The only limitation is I won't be able to use my studio equipment that uses XML for going from my hardware preamp, to expander/compressor/limiter, to my audio interface. I currently have a Samson SR860 headphone and Movo LV8-D omni-directional lavalier microphone.
@@ggcub25 late to the party... But the clamping force and weight on the top of my head gave me headaches and made me want to take the headset off after a few minutes. Bluetooth had some crackling and skipping in the audio. Don't know if that has been remedied by firmware updates. But the sound was so amazing I'm actually thinking about giving them another chance when they are discounted. Tried the wicked cushions but the only introduced more clamping. Hope they'll get a little loose and not clamp as much after some weeks of use. EDIT: Found them soon after this post at a nice discount. I've loved them since. Bought the Wicked Cushions again and a ZMF Co-pilot headband. The comfortability and audio is great. I seem to remember the audio being better the first time around (with the Xbox version) than now (PS). Tried with Dolby Atmos on my PC, and it's still not the same. But tuning the EQ and getting the WC earpads helped a lot!
Would you recommend it for me as a user of Hyperx orbit S . I love them way too much but got broken usb-c port :/ Are these better? For gaming, i dont care about the mic tho.
I've been using the Arctis Pro wireless for maybe 5 years now. I want only the best wireless headset I can get, so naturally i'd find my way here. For anyone that had the Arctis Pro Wireless, how does thie headset compare?
@@3rdEyeBarber I got to finally try the Audeze Maxwell... I'm returning them. I can't stand the fact that it takes over 15 seconds to connect to the wireless dongle each time I turn it on. Also, the wireless range is dogshit compared to the Arctis Pro Wireless. I think I'm going to stick to my Arctis Pro Wireless for several more years.
Sound is much better but they have some shit sticking out from ear cushions that hurts your ears. Was so bad for me I returned them day after. Was rlly great upgrade sound wise but they were not comfortable for my ears.
@@phil_matic I did the same thing, they sound great. But too many little things add up and I returned them as well. Sidetone and mic quality was the deal breaker for me.
I wanted to buy these but there are sOOOOOOOOOOO many complaints about build quality, customer service and just not having nice warranty/ fulfilling replacements. If you are using these regularly still, how are they holding up? Are you getting the crinkle yet? Is there an unbalance in the two ears? Anything else you'd say about them? thanks
Had mine for 4 months, suddenly the right side completely died on me. Was watching netflix at my desk, not looking around or anything, and it just stopped.
Idk if you're still looking but I returned 2. The channels were unbalanced from the start. Mic quality and sidetone were the breaking point for me to return them.
They're insanely hard to get in Europe. I was waiting 1.5 months for them to be in-stock. Once i ordered them, they're supposed to arrive friday (tomorrow), but the package got delayed and are scheduled to arrive next week tuesday.
I love Audeze headphones, for their sound quality. I hate Audeze headphones, for their build quality. They deteriorate fast. I've seen some break in half, some with wiring issues, and my most recent (but replaced) pair, has rattling/creaking issues. I've never had an expensive pair of headphones, feel so cheap.
I literally placed an order when all the build issues started to come up, them breaking again st the hinges just likes previous Audezes. I decided to cancel the order, and got Turtle Beach Stealth Pros instead and I think I've made a very good choice, especially because apparently the equalizer and app in general is super buggy in these headphones.
@@HardwareCanucks The only "gaming" pair of Audeze headphones I've owned are the Penrose. I've also owned one of their older LCD models (I forget which). I have also used the more modern LCD... somethings. All of them have encountered various issues.
Wat? I had around 5 different Audeze headphones and all of them were built like a tank. I know Penrose had headband issues, but never own one myself. LCD line is nearly indestructible even in the harsh audio production use. P.S. Also Audeze LCD-MX2/MX3 do not exist.
Hardware Canucks, you guys really need to be weary of the Maxwell. Look up on the forums. I've had to return my Maxwell TWICE and there are people who have returned it more than 3 times in a row. The earcups die and it is just during normal usage. This is unacceptable from Audeze. Great sound, incredibly bad engineering and QC.
1:52 weird noise is side tone feedback. push the game audio dial twice to turn it off. This only happens when it's not on your head because audio from the headphones is able to reach the built in microphone
Great review, thanks. But i did not find here detailed info about spatial sound experience. Does this headset support some kind of virtual surround in any Games? Or does surround work only with Atmos supporting games and just in Stereo mode in all others? For example Logitech Pro X has DTS:X virtual surround, and works absolutely with any games, movies as well. There are quite a few games with native Atmos support. Also, Cant find info on how many surround channels it supports - 7.1, 9.1. Would be great to clarify it. Thanks!
Sorry for late answer but the Maxwell's are stereo headphones. Well, almost every gamingheadset out there are stereo headsets acctually. It is due to the software you can get 7.1 surroundsound in them. Very rare that gamingheadsets are native 7.1 surroundsound that's because they would get very heavy to wear. I tested my Razer Blackshark V2 PRO with both Dolby Atmos and the THX 7.1 surround and yeah, the THX that these was built for gives a little bit more clarity to the surround, but Dolby Atmos wasn't far behind at all. Audeze Maxwell however are built for Dolby Atmos so these will be more accurate with the surround than the Razwer Blackshark V2 PRO for example. Everything will work with all games. Just that some games will work better because they are configured to the absolute perfection to follow the software that gives the surroundsound. Then you shall know that Dolby Atmos are developed to work with ALL headsets with stereo and ain't locked to a specific software like many of these gamingheadsets are. As I mentioned, sure it say 7.1 on another headsets but they often ain't 7.1 native. It is the software that gives them the 7.1 surroundsound. They made some with native 7.1 as I said, they where damn expensive and very heavy to use and it was complicated asf to make the speakers to work properly as a true 7.1 surroundsystem in the headset because of the limited space to build it in. So this native surroundsystem in gamingheadsets etcetera was scrapped. Instead it was better to get bloody darn good stereospeakers with a bloody darn good software that mimics 5.1, 7.1, 9.1, one billion point 1 or whatever. It was more cheap, less weight and the troubles with setting each speaker so it sounded perfect as a native 7.1 disappeared.
Maybe I missed it, but this headset comes in different version, PC-XBOX or PC-Playstation. I don't recall you speaking about that. Which should you choose and why?
How does this thing compare to the other audeze wireless headsets? They have a few of them right? Aren’t the mobius and Penrose newer? Or is this some newer iteration of the maxwell?
So for the audio that sounds like star wars sounds..... I think that is when you have sidetone on and the sound reflects off of a surface and the microphone picks up those and it kinds goes back and forth until it is high pitched... If I have side tone off and get close to like the table or something it won't happen. Then with the discord on your phone thing, wouldn't it be better to use discord on your computer because when you use the dongle you get 2 audio outputs so you could have the game as 1 and discord as the other, that way you can use your volume slider between the two and still hear both?
New to gaming. Thank you for this video I was considering the steel-series pro but after watching this video I think I will go with these. Can you tell me what came you were playing? Thank you!
After a Penrose and this Maxwell broken with a delicate home use. I think Audeze is not very serious and reliable.Thx to the shop for the 2 new headsets in only 3years. I Will not open the new maxwell and sell it imediately. I love it but I don't want to trash my money every 1 or 2 years. Is there a good alternative (without crappy and slow soundstage like sennheiser) that wil not break after one year ?
So many reviewers talk about footsteps and music only, thank you for mentioning a variety of games like Cyberpunk etc. Also, the fit with glasses (while I don't wear any) and VR headset with a halo strap is great. I ordered these and am a bit worried about fitting them over my Quest 3 but it seems to work out given you had a halo strap in use in the photo.
@@xzay. It's both the best sounding and most uncomfortable headset I've ever used. You hear details in games and music you never heard before, the base is not overwhelming but precise, with some EQ it can get punchy without muddying the highs. BUT, and that's the reason I have returned it, it's HEAVY and have a huge amount of clamp. The stock pads are pretty shallow, so my ears touched the baffles. Aftermarket wicked cushions are not much better, they are deeper but significantly larger and with firmer internal material, so the headset clamps even harder. This clamp force, the weight of almost 600g with the WC pads and the isolation putting pressure on my inner heard made it quickly uncomfortable. I'd say give it a try, maybe it fits your ears/head well. Depending on where you live/where you buy it you might be able to return it.
7:54 weird. I've adapted mine by unscrewing those 2 screws, otherwise the holes are too small and you have to stretch them a lot. Which idk how it would go in the long run.
Is that best wireless gaming headphones in therms of sound and positioning? I dont need micro at all, becouse all of them sound like trash on wireless except astro a50.
I've been using an Arctis 7 wireless for a super long time (very happy with it) and have been considering an upgrade. That build quality for the headband glue looks really concerning for a $300 headset, sounds like I should take a look at the Arctis Pro...
Ok so no Discord from the phone during gameplay but what about Discord on the PC in the background while playing a game? Has anyone tested if it lowers your game/music audio quality when talking on Discord?
Mine just had an issue with the right earcup where it cut out and sometimes died completely after 3 months of normal use. Since it is within warranty I got a replacement and hope it was a one time thing.
As someone who has been using the Arctis Pro Wireless for several years, I thought it was time to upgrade and I came to the Audeze Maxwell. I gave it a try, and after 3 days, I will be returning them. The Maxwell headset had this annoying thing where it took 15 seconds to connect to my PC each and every time I turned it on. And secondly, I felt that this headset wasn't even much of an audio improvement over the Arctis Pro Wireless. Third, the wireless range on the Maxwell is absolutely horrible. With the Steelseries Arctis Pro Wireless, I can walk halfway across my house before my headset loses signal, and upon returning back to my PC, it will automatically connect back to give me audio. With the Audeze Maxwell, one I leave my room, the headset already loses signal and then disconnects from my PC, which is annoying because reconnecting it will take another 15 seconds after I turn it off and back on.
This headset is great, build and sound quality. BUT, if you're worried about mic quality and playing with friends it can be pretty bad. If you're not playing with friends then its not a problem. Sidetone is also annoying as hell with the hiss and crackling. Another thing, if you're sensitive to weight, its very heavy for a headset. Ive also heard overtime the left and right channels will just give up. Mine were unbalanced from the start.
Great review. My ancient gaming headset finally died so I started looking for a replacement and these Audeze Maxwell headsets have gotten an insane amount of positive reviews: it was a no-brainer. I'll have them next week, hope they don't actually suck.
@@beasthaven1571 Meh, they sound great but have terrible controls. There's no gesture controls much less simple things like fast forwarding through commercials when I'm listening to podcasts. The few controls it does have are not intuitive and I hit the wrong thing all the time like turning on sidetone when I'm just trying to adjust volume. So, these are fantastic headphones for *_listening_* to audio (music, video, or games) but they absolutely suck for any kind of mobile use. And the controls are terrible. Equally important is the horrific mic, it's just bad. Like, really, really, really bad. I have $20 web cams with better mics. I have no idea how they can make a high end headphone with a mic this bad. I got the Xbox version so it will not work with my PS5, I blame Sony which *STILL* hasn't added Bluetooth headphone support. Overall I would _not_ recommend these headphones to anyone unless you _only_ care about excellent wireless audio while only sitting in a chair in your house and you never want to adjust anything and you don't need to speak to anyone. So, again, they're meh. They don't, technically suck but they're not far off from it. With how much I hate everything about these headphones the one thing I love is the amazing wireless audio, I decided to keep them just for that amazing mobile audio that I only use around my house when I want headphones. And I would doubly not recommend these till they make them universally compatible, no more of this BS PS or Xbox only nonsense. Just make them work.
I bought the SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pro Wireless recently and I am thinking about replacing these with the Audaze Maxwell. Mainly because I am kind of underwhelmed by the audio and microphone quality of the Nova Pro. Coming from an A50 before which I had to dump because of reoccuring software problems. Do you think this is even that big of a change? From Nova Pro to Maxwell?
Yes I gave my steel series wirlesss 350$ to my little brother and bought the Audeze Maxwell the audio n everything is better only flaw is the headset is a little heavy and can give eararch or head pressure pain when gaming for a long time but despite that if you don’t have a sensitive head your winning and going to completely love the headset those boomy 90mm planar drivers are OP compared to the baby 40mm drivers on the steel series.
If you would have to choose only one of these, which one would it be 1. Audeze Maxwell Wireless 2. Logitech G PRO X 2 LIGHTSPEED Wireless 3. Logitech G535 LIGHTSPEED Wireless
@IAMIAM777 I bought the h6pro from Amazon they are on sale for 99 dollars and I love them, the only downside is the braiding on the cord is not as good but I'm using the cord from the gsp 600 that iv had for years
Coming from my MMX300 I wanted to change to something wireless and then had the Maxwells for 1 month. Sound is awesome, software and EQ are great and battery life is just another level, had zero bugs on these. But I just couldn't wear them comfortably for more than 45min. They are heavy and sturdy. I also used the wicked cushions, they are plush but add even more weight. Couldn't just get happy with these comfortwise. And the planar sound is just a bit "too clean" in some games what killed the immersion a bit to me. I changed to the Turtle Beach Stealth Pro which is not on par soundwise, has lower battery life (2 swappables), but has also really decent drivers with impactful bass and is just total fun im games. It has also a great EQ, is comfy and has great ANC which helps you get immersed completely. If I hadn't heard the Maxwells before I would say the TB has the best sound of actual gaming headsets and imaging is also great.
I'm torn between The Audeze Maxwell and the Turtle Beach Stealth Pro. I mainly play FPS games online but still some single player games. Music and Bluetooth phone calls are not important for me. I have 2 concerns about the Maxwells: First is the Comfort because they're over 500 grams, and second is the imaging or footsteps location ability compared to the Stealth Pro. I would say that i bought the Turtle beach 700 gen2 max and returned them the same day, the sound and build quality were terrible so i'm afraid to buy another Turtle beach headset. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
I also have the mmx300 atm, is it worth an upgrade? I also use an soundcard with the mmx300 and it sounds pretty good imho. Just looking for improvements all the time
Nobody ever discusses how any of these high-end headsets sound on a 3.5mm jack. I'm not a big audio guy, so I just need to know, if I MOSTLY use it while connected to 3.5mm jack, is it overkill to buy something like this? Like, will all of the "good" sound quality become compressed once I listen through a 3.5mm jack, or will it still sound nice?
yes. look elsewhere. the whole point of this headset is the wireless 96 khz 24 bit audio connection it has witht he dongle. if ur not going to use it, i recommend getting a proper wired headset, or even a wired headphone with a modmic if u dont mind wires (they also make a mod mic wireless for less cables, but it sounds noticeably worse side by side)
The built-in mic makes it sound like you are suddenly lisping. Strange. Even the boom mic doesn't compare in audio quality to the Corsair HS80 USB (wired).
Is this kind of headset good for people gaming on xbox? as in is it reasonably easy to use? Watched a bunch of reviews, looking for the perfect headset and these are really helpful.
This is gonna be a noob question and most of you will be thinking these can't be compared, but I was seriously considering the Sennheiser HD 58X Jubilee until I started seeing reviews for these. As far as sound goes, are these better?
I would want to know if the hinges connecting the earpieces are metal or plastic junk. I have been dissapointed twice by headphones that are considered premium 300$+ only for the plastic frame to start to crack after only a few years. If its not metal i just consider it junk at this point. No reason a good pair of headphones should not last 5-10 years.
Im looking for a new headaet for gaming. I mainly play COD but casually like 30 min a day. I was looking at logitech g pro x2 or theae maxwells. I curently have arctis 7 but the left ear is going out. Any thoughts?
I have this headset and it’s just about perfect, no noise artifacts like those you noticed, none at all. The sound is amazing, the microphone likewise (odd that you usually focus so much on microphones but didn’t this time, compare it to Steelseries and will see how crap Steelseries mikes are).it seems you came late to the game and tried to do it differently, but highlighting a sound artifact that you’re the only one getting without any further investigation seems like lack of professionalism to me. The only problem I have with the Maxwell is with the PC software that doesn’t allow me to set custom profiles, it disconnects the dongle every time I try. But since I can do that through my phone app, it kinda solves the problem. Though Audeze will have to address this problem sooner or later. Summing up: there’s no other wireless gaming headset that can even compare to the Maxwell.
Bro that feedback is from the built in mic picking up the speakers that’s why it only Happens when you take them off and set them down. And it only happens if you are using the built in mic or if you stock the boom mic into the earcup. lol You don’t need to reset it just turn it down.
I've got the Arctis Nova 7, TB Stealth 700 Gen 2's and a Beats Wireless headset, I retired all 3 of them for this headset. The audio quality on these are ridiculous both for gaming and audio
Only complaints are the side tone crackling noise and not great for sound stage for FPS games. Otherwise solid 9/10 headphones, nothing else really competes for immersion.
Had mine for two months now and I'm so far very happy. Although I replaced the pads with Wicked Cushions and the headband with ZMF Pilot Pad. Very comfortable now but they're like 650grams. But I've had no issue wearing them for a full day. Just hoping they will last a while and not break down :D
Lol I did the exact same thing, but I used a different company for the pads and they’re way better and the ZMF pilot pads are coming.. I’m assuming you saw this from a Reddit post? And it’s a month later since you posted this, any néw complaints or appreciation?

I mainly play FPS games online but still some single player games. Music and Bluetooth phone calls are not important for me. Could you give a headset that in your opinion supports simultaneously Bluetooth/dongle wireless, and 3.5mm or bluetooth for playback at the sametime? I have the exact same use case Nintendo switch gaming, but discord through my phone. Struggling to find a modern wireless headset that supports this. I would really appreciate the recommendation from anyone.
I'm really doubting about buying either the Maxwel Audeze or the Steelseries Arctis Nova Pro Wireless... I usually play CS2 and occasionally some Anno or maybe C:S2 in the future.. Because of CS2 the positioning is very important to me, but I have no freaking clue :D Anyone has an idea about this topic? :)
i constantly had a snap, crackle, pop in one ear, sometimes both. its hard to remember after having 4, yes, 4, different models. I had an earlier revision, and then 5 months later, had to do 3 seperate rmas to not have a weird sound artifact happen from just wearing the god damn thing. its been so dissapointing and angers me how much people praise this defective mess
does anyone know how these compare to don't open backs? I'm tore between these, the Sennheiser hd660s2 and the new Logitech x pro 2 wireless or whatever Edit: Mainly games like Diablo, Fortnite, Madden, 2K, etc plus music and movies, etc
These are better than both of those. HD660 S2 is just a worse 650/6XX and the G Pro isn't even in the same stratosphere as the Maxwell. Plus if you get the 650 or 6XX I would highly recommend an AMP/DAC to go with it like the iFi Zendac 2, Schiit Hella 2 or Topping DX3 Pro.
I've been using this pair for a few months now and the only major issue I've faced is an overly loud and crackly sidetone. I've consistently played at louder volumes in an attempt to drown out that crackling.
I have the h6 pro pro closed, the Maxwell is definitely better. They sound more clear, when I go back to my h6 pro they sound more muddy. Not to take away anything from the h6 pros they are good in their bracket for sure! The h6 pro is more comfortable and I can wear it longer but the Maxwell sounds more clear and music on it is insane. I do like the features on the h6 pro more, if the maxwells and h6 pro had a baby it would be the goat of all headsets
For expensive hardware you guys should do a 1 year later review.

@@cha0ss0ldier-4 Didn't know this, shame! Thought it was a build quality issue rather than bandwidth.

How is build quality good when you point out like 2 things falling appart right after that?
They have a high class build quality. Sometimes things like peels can happen but if you want to see terrible build quality, look at the cheaper HifiMan headphones.
What people don't realise is how important these headphones are. They punch way above their weight. At 300 these are the best wireless headphones hands down. I retired 3 headphones from my desk coz of these; a 6XX, DT770 and a 58X. Only these and an HD800 remain on my desk now. I even use these on the couch for late night movies. It is not an exaggeration. These are the best gaming headsets right now, the fact that they are wireless is just icing on the cake.
I retired my music headphones and my gaming headphones with these.
Shit, I've been rocking HD 650s for years now. This might be something worth considering.
I've just ordered Audeze, and I can't wait to compare them to my HD 58X.
9:11 - Happened to me within 2 weeks of owning them. Just turned on the headset and joined Discord with 7 Friends already talking and for some reason the headset set the volume at 100 instead of the 24 I always keep them at.
Yeah… really annoying bug to kill your ears.

Hah nice! The fridge hack is boss level 😂

Wow that built-in mic with no noise filter sounded so awful 😅
I mean most “gaming” wireless headsets have mediocre or downright bad audio quality with a mediocre mic, so if this thing can actually have good sound quality it’s still ahead in my books
Oh the boom mic was pretty good, I just meant the other one sounded awful, like definitely worse than most gaming headset mics. Which is ok I guess, it's only as a backup for when traveling & you don't want the boom mic making you look like a dweeb. It's just a shame it makes D sound like he's got a horrendously strong lisp!
0:06 When I heard that sound, I thought my Maxwell headphones were being turned on. lol
I had the same feedback issue on mine, it's loud and horrible. I turned sidetone off, and it went away.
Here is the EQ settings I'm using right now for both music/gaming which I recommend for everyone to give it a try :
32hz: -1db
64hz: 6db
125hz: 2db (or 1db)
250hz: -3db
500hz: -5db
1Khz: -2hz
2Khz: -2hz
4Khz: -3hz
8Khz: -5hz
16Khz: from -6db to -9 (your taste)
I’ve tried this headset and I have to disagree about the imaging. You said imaging is great, but I tried this headset extensively and imaging is good at best, but not great. There are many other headsets out there that are miles better at imaging. Yes the overall sound quality is amazing and probably the best headset for that, but to me they’re more aiming at music listening for that and not gaming. It just happens to have very well tuned planar magnetic drivers that suits most games as well as music, but as someone who mostly plays FPS games, imaging is definitely not something I’d buy this headset for
Well tuned SteelSeries Nova 7 is not far off in sound quality in games and it has great imaging and it’s literally half the price of the Audeze Maxwell
The Nova Pro wireless feels more distant for sure, but the level of resolution you get with the Maxwell is just nuts tho.
-D.
@@HardwareCanucks Oh yeah the resolution on the Maxwell is top tier, but for gaming do you really need top tier resolution? In my opinion as long as a headset has pleasant and good sound for gaming and great imaging, it’s definitely worth a go, but for pure resolution I have high end studio headphones for that
Either way, overall it is a high end gaming headset, depending on use case
Keep up the great work my man. I love your energy in the videos 😎
there's certainly the quality but the most insane thing about this is I charge it once every 7 days! I had a Steelseries but I was put off with how much software and setup it had and at first sounded robotic. With Audeze, I plugged it and played and with the software, I can play with EQ.
i love how the built in mic makes you sound like you have a lisp
the sound quality for example in bf5 is just insane every detail so crystal clear. Best headset i've ever had.
as a maxwell myself, i love this headset
Btw the screamy artifact noise you hear is cause when you unplug the removable mic and use the internal mic, it’s really sensitive to touch so what i do is turn off side tone so that doesn’t happen. And yes you can unscrew the headband screws to adjust it
Turn off side tone

Same headsets just a different dongle. The USB-C dongle has a switch (PC & PS5 or PC & XBOX).
-D.
If you are on PC get the more expensive xbox ones for spatial audio.
Would you choose these or the Astro A50x for mostly single player games?
New to gaming.

The TT case ad looks good 👍
I will say the boom mic is ok but the built in mic makes it kinda sound like you have a lisp.
Are the maxwells always paired to the dongle? I haven't seen anything about a feature that allows you to connect to it
Is that best wireless gaming headphones in therms of sound and positioning?
Is it still worth going for it now? Or maybe soon there will be a new model that might solve some of it issues?
@user-ed9mc7um7u The Maxwells are hard to get as is right now. The "next" version will have Sony input seeing as they own the company now.
Great review. My ancient gaming headset finally died so I started looking for a replacement and these Audeze Maxwell headsets have gotten an insane amount of positive reviews: it was a no-brainer. I'll have them next week, hope they don't actually suck.
Since you didn’t come back I bet they sucked huh?😂
The feedback sound is present when you remove the headset while side tone is on
I bought the SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pro Wireless recently and I am thinking about replacing these with the Audaze Maxwell.
Just had to send my set back because the usb dongle kept dropping every 10mins or so. Really hope this can get resolved because the sound was amazing.

2. Logitech G PRO X 2 LIGHTSPEED Wireless
3. Logitech G535 LIGHTSPEED Wireless
Canucks can you tell your honest opinion what headset do you think is better the gsp 600 or the h6pro just the headset no amps
H6 pro bro, Gsp 500 600 670 all have terrible clampforce

Cool video, dude. Hilarious too. Mine arrive tomorrow.

As far as sound goes, are these better?
maxwell or ananda? both like 300£ plz tell me the best gaming sound qualitty,i keep trying both of em and idk,i can t feel the diff, what s better?
Ananda will be better because being open back. An include a DAC/AMP it will push the power to the headphones and give you a lot of details.
I often have connection issues with the wireless dongle on this device.
I hope someone would make a adjustable headband replacement
seeing the Headset in this review, is there going to be a mmx200 review?
Im looking for a new headaet for gaming. I mainly play COD but casually like 30 min a day. I was looking at logitech g pro x2 or theae maxwells. I curently have arctis 7 but the left ear is going out. Any thoughts?
Have you made a decision yet?
@tylereg4764 not yet. I'm too busy being cheap lol. But I think I'm leaning towards maxwells
Bro that feedback is from the built in mic picking up the speakers that’s why it only
Happens when you take them off and set them down. And it only happens if you are using the built in mic or if you stock the boom mic into the earcup. lol You don’t need to reset it just turn it down.
What version is it with the cool funky ear cushions?
Wicked Cushions
@@jpteehee No I'm still very happy with them and no issues. What ear pads did you get?
@Hardware Canucks I watched your reviews and i'm torn between 2 models that works on both Xbox and Playstation, The Audeze Maxwell and the Turtle Beach Stealth Pro.
SUBBED!
I'm in the exact same scenario. Did you ever decide on a headset between the stealth pro and Maxwell?
Could you give a headset that in your opinion supports simultaneously Bluetooth/dongle wireless, and 3.5mm or bluetooth for playback at the sametime? I have the exact same use case Nintendo switch gaming, but discord through my phone. Struggling to find a modern wireless headset that supports this. I would really appreciate the recommendation from anyone.
I think the corsair virtuoso xt does.
hows the imaging compared to the hd58x? i mostly play cs2
I'm really doubting about buying either the Maxwel Audeze or the Steelseries Arctis Nova Pro Wireless...
I usually play CS2 and occasionally some Anno or maybe C:S2 in the future..
Because of CS2 the positioning is very important to me, but I have no freaking clue :D
Anyone has an idea about this topic? :)
Can you hear any difference between the stock pads and Wicked Cushions?
Wicked brought the cushions to Audeze to test. The profiles are super close to the original cushions.
I'm actually interested in that Thermaltake case but it's not linked 😕 fine, I'll just Google it
Woops, just added the link :)
-D.
@@HardwareCanucksit's ok, I'm sure the sponsor didn't mind not having the link there 😬 😁
i constantly had a snap, crackle, pop in one ear, sometimes both. its hard to remember after having 4, yes, 4, different models. I had an earlier revision, and then 5 months later, had to do 3 seperate rmas to not have a weird sound artifact happen from just wearing the god damn thing. its been so dissapointing and angers me how much people praise this defective mess
It should be the sidetone
does anyone know how these compare to don't open backs? I'm tore between these, the Sennheiser hd660s2 and the new Logitech x pro 2 wireless or whatever
Edit: Mainly games like Diablo, Fortnite, Madden, 2K, etc plus music and movies, etc
These are better than both of those. HD660 S2 is just a worse 650/6XX and the G Pro isn't even in the same stratosphere as the Maxwell. Plus if you get the 650 or 6XX I would highly recommend an AMP/DAC to go with it like the iFi Zendac 2, Schiit Hella 2 or Topping DX3 Pro.
what other high end pc gaming headset can you recommend?
Sound is EVERYTHING in Escape From Tarkov. Would these be the superior headset for that game?
I've been using this pair for a few months now and the only major issue I've faced is an overly loud and crackly sidetone. I've consistently played at louder volumes in an attempt to drown out that crackling.
Wouldn't recommend doing this... you'll lose the ability to enjoy decent headphones. RMA time.
how the epos h6pro closed sound compared to it in competitive games ?
I have the h6 pro pro closed, the Maxwell is definitely better. They sound more clear, when I go back to my h6 pro they sound more muddy. Not to take away anything from the h6 pros they are good in their bracket for sure! The h6 pro is more comfortable and I can wear it longer but the Maxwell sounds more clear and music on it is insane. I do like the features on the h6 pro more, if the maxwells and h6 pro had a baby it would be the goat of all headsets
Was thinking maybe going wireless, these seem solid, bit pricey here in EU though. Was thinking about Beyerdynamic MMX 200 I wonder how they compare.
Don’t bother tbh
can i connect this headset directly to the ps5 with the GO blu by iFi to the usb-c port to increase the quality and have lossless audio?
What is that??
Cant use the dongle on my creative x7 :( any tips???
Great video! Do you use the foot steps preset on the audeze app for cs2? Thanks
Can you plug this in wired instead of wireless?
