Honestly I see you as dead wrong about Mitchell feeding the ball to CC or anyone else all season. BS, friend. I've watched every game. And her 2-3 Assists a game says she doesn't feed ANYONE. You need to go back and count the passes and assists like you have CC's TO's. Very enlightening stuff. Mitchell gets no rebounds, drives into traffic out of control, and takes every shot she can no matter how cold or not she may be. This take is a miss from you imho. The problem with Kelsey Mitchell is she hates that this was HER team last year, and it never will be again. Mitchell is part of the problem because she never was and never will be a team player. And definitely not a support player, which with CC on the team, she automatically becomes because the game runs in, around, and through CC. A Sabrina Ionescu type G would be what will bring championships - NOT KM. Send her packing end of year and go get the right talent.

The dude is saying what Kelsey has to do to be successful on THIS team. She is still stuck on her dribbling all game and taking all the shots. She had an awesome game with like 20 but with only 2 assists, like you say, without Rebounding. If she doesn't shape up, she will be benched and later traded. I say trade Kelsey and Wheeler for a spot up 3-point shooter but I do I like the coach is being patient with her because I would have her come off the bench.

Excellent breakdown. You hit it spot on. The problem is KM will have a problem understanding her role. She wants to dribble her way to create a play. That will fail. CC points and assists accounted for 44 of the 88 Fever points. CC looks for and creates opportunities for all open players. C is not being selfish. KM need to adjust

Terrific breakdowns. Absolutely agree. Mitchell was the leading scorer (for many seasons) on losing Fever teams...and she was perfectly fine with it. If you're trying to change a losing culture (in sports or in the corporate world), the first thing you have to do is get rid of the personnel who were responsible for creating that losing culture. These people are always resentful of change; they were never challenged on anything before. Losing was accepted and ultimately expected.
@@dandydon6049 I hope so, too. Maybe the benching helped wake her up. She definitely could be a valuable asset. But a losing mentality is extremely hard to change, especially when it's been ingrained in you for so long.
You deserve more subscribers! Great breakdown, again. I hope the coach or Kelsey actually see this video, because no lies have been told here. Kelsey is a perfect fit for this team, if she plays like she did in most of the second half. No need to make life harder with all that dribbling and going into traffic. Space the floor and take advantage of Caitlin. I hope they manage to ride this wave until the Olympic break. They are just so much better and so much fun to watch when they play the run and gun style. Playing set half court offense is again, making things harder for themselves than they need to be. Literally all they have to do is rebound/inbound, get the ball to CC and everyone run. Not many teams could keep up with that pace.
Kelsey Mitchell gets the ball, runs the length of the court, takes on the entire Mercury team by herself thinking she was a combination of Superman, Wonder Woman and the Flash, never once thinking about or looking for the open man, does a donut move under the basket, heads to the corner and throws up a clunker. Breathtaking. Her teammates are looking on no doubt thinking, what the Hell Mitchell? This was the ultimate 'not a team player' move, and it didn't work, nor did it impress anyone. That is why she was rightfully benched until the 2nd half of the game when she, perhaps begrudgingly, corrected her selfish, me first play. Maybe she will learn how to pass the ball to the open man, maybe not. But if not more bench time awaits.
Carter, you are brilliant. I wish I could invest in your future. If I owned the Fever, I would make this video required viewing for players and coaches. This channel is really going to blow up; I hope you are ready. I will call you Coach Carter because I am learning so much from you. Good luck in all you do.
I really appreciate that you can break down the game intelligently, bringing in context from recent history, in a no nonsense style. But it's just as important that you get the human element, remembering that basketball isn't just x's and o's, it's people trying to build something together. Most of these fans yelling and screaming "ball hog," and "selfish" are in it for the adrenaline and the dopamine, to feel good about trashing someone. That's so easy to do and it's missing so much forest for the trees. What you're describing with the trust and gradual growth is sane and nuanced. Kelsey Mitchell is a baller! Her speed, shooting stroke, and competitive fire are so valuable. And then also, she gets tunnel vision at times, pounds the air out of the ball, and it's frustrating. But for 6 years Kels was pretty much the only bright spot on this team. She HAD to play hero ball for us to have any chance to win at all. It takes time to shift that mindset. I feel like by the end of last season Kels trusted Aliyah and it showed. So she is teachable. The challenge is showing her how she can shift her mindset again, still be great in a different way, and win at the game she loves. Any fan of the Indiana Fever should want and be excited to see her grow and succeed with her team. Because sure, we can trade her. But the grass is not always greener, and CC and Mitchell could be absolutely deadly together. Then you put Aliyah and Smith (who has to get more consistent but there's talent there!) into the mix, and...whew. I don't think Coach Sides if the devil like so many of our new fans do. The way they trash her and make up these storylines in their heads like they actually know is a little disturbing. 😅 All that being said...I am not sure yet if Sides is the right fit for the team as the lead voice. I think we will have a better sense of it around the break. Anyway, so glad the algorithm served you up! Subscribing!
Another excellent analysis by my favorite guy on the internet. I am troubled by the thought that Christie Sides might've actually made a good coaching decision. I still think she should be fired, but maybe she can improve, too. Keep up the great reviews with such knowledge and enthusiasm. Love it when a new one pops up.
Great analysis and I totally agree with you, Mitchell is a very good shooter and has good speed but that is her limit. CC is the floor general and can make Mitchell a star of the game if only she has full trust in CC, and that goes for the rest of the team as well.
Sides benched her for not playing game plan. It was to take the ball out and not ISO. KM had an agenda. I personally don't want her on the team anymore man. I've said that game 3 or 5 at their post game conference. 2nd half you can see her giving it back up for sure. lol. Another cool behavior on CC : ruclips.net/video/xSIQYtGCIG0/видео.html
Only post I've seen so far that acknowledged Mitchell actually being benched in 1st half rather "just not playing much". None of the TV announcers or halftime studio crew wanted to go there. And I think the analysis here is spot on. Mitchell obviously wasn't playing within the framework of what Sides wanted, but given a 2nd chance in 2nd half she was a key element in the win.
Such a solid analysis. Thank you for the leveled tone and video backing up your points. Mitchell is a solid shooter and can be clutch, but you are right that she needs to slow down and let the game come to her. You made the Kyrie comparison, I will say that she could be Klay to Caitlin being Curry. Klay made a career off being a great catch and shoot guy who profited off the attention paid to Curry and knowing where to be for the open look shot.
Celeste Taylor could have been the firecracker this team needs off the bench, but now, we will never know. Wheeler and Mitchell are playing dinosaur ball (this is how you get the first or second overall pick season for three years kind of play).
Insightful analysis and fine presentation. The WNBA is chock full of egos. (This is not unique to the league; egos abound in other professions.) My sense is that much of what some fans and commentators decry as “hate” for or “jealousy” of Caitlin Clark among certain (though not all) veteran WNBA players and coaches is expression of ego, a desire/demand for CC/rookie/new-fan respect and a sense of “having paid dues” (thus having “ownership” in the league/game). Your presentation emphasizes that Kelsey Mitchell is not being disrespected or relegated to a journeyman role when she plays “off ball”. I think that’s important - to Mitchell and her followers. Similarly, it explains why Diana Taurasi’s pre-season comments about rookies (and, to my ear, Clark especially though not by name) would sound so entitled, dismissive and even disdainful yet Taurasi would be respectful of Clark before, during and after Sunday’s game.
First I hear there may be a coaching opening on the fever. I choose YOu. Seems like the Indiana fever literally is taking coaching from influencers. It’s crazy.
Great video. Thank you! I love and respect Kelsey but some of the things she does confused me and I didn’t want to reduce her down to a ball hog especially with such improvement from the beginning of the season. If Kelsey can get with CC like Aliyah, Temi, etc. the fever will be play off material
You are sharp my guy, you know ball frfr. I honestly can't believe it's taken Mitch this long to get it because what I was thinking her first thoughts were gonna be was "if I let her bring it up court and draw the double I'm gonna score 30 ah game." It sounds weird but if you know who Mitch is then it makes perfect sense because she has to eat. If Mitch ain't eating then she will screw up the game frfr. Her problem is trust though but HOPEFULLY she gets it now because I think if she puts up 30 tomorrow night they can get the biggest win they've had in years. Mitch can do it trust me, if she gets in a zone she can run it up. As long as everybody else isn't standing around looking at her and CC they can run them out the gym. If her and CC go off it is completely over. CC knows what Mitch can do that's why she was so hype when Mitch was cooking them in the second half. Let CC run them in the ground and Mitch put 22-30 on they head top and it's a wrap, pace and space the rest of the teams to death. Everybody contributing is cool but Mitch as the leading scorer is optimal and it's the only way that CC is gonna ever get normal defense played on her in any kinda half speed half court set.
Great analysis. The Fever is learning each others' tendencies and becoming a serious contender for the championship. Not a stretch. This is a great team. GO FEVER!!!
You are absolutely correct. This proves Sides know basketball and more convincing Sides intentionally sabotages Clark time after time. Fire Dunn and get a GM that will fire Sides.
That was a very good point. I give props to coach Sides for benching. It takes a lot of courage to bench your former star player and go with...Erica Wheeler? Wallace? ....takes some balls for sure...
I’m new to basketball and learning a lot from your channel! Thank you for your analysis and explanations. You’re keeping above the trash talking gossip as a Godly young man. Thank you!
Mitchell and Wheeler want to play Hero Ball! Christy needs to play Hull and Samuelson more and bring back the back to back DPOY Celeste Taylor and cut Wheeler. God Bless
That was the move I've been waiting for all season from coach Sides. She needed to punish Mitchell and one other player for freezing Clark out at times and establish once and for all who's running the offense. KM was a different player when she came back out and Caitlin rewarded her several times with wide open shots. Caitlin is not a selfish player and her playmaking and passing are off the charts. When her teammates fully buy in to that, as some already have, everyone will benefit.
Great stuff! Terrific analysis and great clip selection showing Kelsey Mitchell and how she was playing 1v5 and Coach Sides finally had the guts to bench her for it. Way better 2nd half she played. Also kudos for the improvements in your presenter skills, better use of your hands. Just for fun, maybe you could try some whiteboard diagramming stuff one of these times, since you really like to involve your hands in your communication, might even make diagramming out explanations part of your brand.
I think one thing I (half) disagree with is when you say that KM should just be playing off-ball. I think you are mostly correct I just wanna put an addendum on it. If Kelsey plays more off-ball and lets the offense run through CC, yes it’ll generate more open looks for her to catch and shoot easy, open shots. But! I also think that if she does that it will allow her to play the type of game she seems to enjoy the most, 1 on 1 iso. You used the Kyrie example and I think that is so accurate. Kyrie will play off-ball and get a lot of open looks but that is also what allows him to later on in the game be able to take people off the dribble because now that he’s established himself as an outside threat, he can drive to the basket on late closeouts. I think the same can happen with Kelsey. I say this because one of the dopest plays I saw this year was Kelsey sprinting to the cup and catching an alley for a layup and a foul. *That* was elite Just looked it up, it was June 1st against the Sky. At 7:57 from full game highlights
Another gem man. You gotta do one about how poorly they set pics, screens etc. if they learn scrims they will in pack cc scoring power, for another 15 point a game. They will be unstoppable.
Sorry folks! This gentleman doing the video is DAR (dead ass Right) Every sport will have the same scenario, no matter what. This is what is being coached. Before you even take the field, floor, etc. if you are a player you say to yourself : what is the defense showing me. Then, you go from there. Look for opportunities! Caitlin knows this from the very beginning of the game. Why does she continuously surveying the floor when she crosses center court? She is looking for a game plan. If there isn't one, she will move the ball left to right and up and back all the time watching the defense. She isn't just wasting time with her dribbling. What a smart player she is!
I coached soccer and there was one team in our league that was wicked and they had one great player, we ended up defeating them in our second play against them because I literally did a strategy to shut down their outstanding forward which allowed the rest of our team to get on the game and it removed this outstanding player from leading the rest of her team and their usual play. When you have a star you have to play differently and there is no room for Jealousy on a team or not acknowledging where your strengths are and who you need to be utilizing
CURLY'S DAUGHTER? - Curly, from the Harlem Globetrotters was my first favorite player, well that was until Magic came up. Now Curly was the best dribbler on the planet, every kid who got to see the Globetrotters knew this to be true. Curly could dribble with his eyes closed he can dribble walking backwards. Of course he could dribble between the opposing team's players multiple times in a row. Often he could dribble in circles around other players until they got so dizzy that they fell down or Curly would jump on their back and dunk the ball. Now I think we need to be honest here, the Harlem Globetrotters they got around, I mean you know - they traveled the whole country and it's only rational to expect it they may have left some little gifts behind. Years later we might find that these gifts grow up to be basketball prodigies themselves.... The first time I saw Kelsey Mitchell it was like seeing her father in a shorter form, sans of the Good humor. Well to be fair maybe the humor goes over our heads, such as that clip from practice last week where she was dribbling in circles around all of her teammates who were in the paint... it was reminiscent of when clowns get out of a VW bug and run around it in circles and then all try to jump back inside... Except that she's the clown who always gets left out, not knowing how to play the game -that she's supposed to be joining the team. At any rate, I'm just glad to see that Curly's tradition has been kept alive. I do think she should be more creative though, doing some of the eyes closed shots, or bouncing off the floor between the opponent's legs up to the backboard and into the hoop. Or the touch-the-rafters 3pointer. Those are classics that she could bring back. This possessed demon wind-up toy thing is a little disconcerting, it always ends up looking like she's bent over with appendicitis and then convulses up to hurl... The ball flying in the direction of the backboard, usually. We have to give it to her that she doesn't need the tricycle because she's so quick she can actually dribble in circles as if she was on a tricycle ... Just not sure how this applies to the goal of professional care competitive basketball
CC is the facilitator of the team, Mitchell is the shooter. CC should always bring the ball up and with CC's dishing ability will find Mitchell wide open to the point Mitchell might end up being the league leader in points.
Honestly I see you as dead wrong about Mitchell feeding the ball to CC or anyone else all season. BS, friend. I've watched every game. And her 2-3 Assists a game says she doesn't feed ANYONE. Maybe she will learn how to pass the ball to the open man, maybe not. But if not more bench time awaits.
Great video, I’m not convinced that Sides is as smart as you and that she saw what you saw. We’ll see in the game tomorrow against the Aces.
Carter, you are brilliant. I wish I could invest in your future. If I owned the Fever, I would make this video required viewing for players and coaches. This channel is really going to blow up; I hope you are ready. I will call you Coach Carter because I am learning so much from you. Good luck in all you do.
I appreciate the kind words! Thank you, and good luck to you as well! 💯🤝
This young man has more knowledge than many basketball coaches in wnba and nba.
Thanks for sharing your analysis of this game! It makes so much sense.
Loved this video breakdown. Best one I've seen that didnt focus on hype and only focused on the game itself.
You nailed this analysis.
Outstanding commentary. Taught me a thing or two. Thank you.
That Kyrie comparison is a really good one. She can be the Kyrie vet with the awesome handles to CC’s Luka scoring and play making.
Yep
Great analysis Carter. Looking forward to the next one.
Great analysis! Dribble, dribble, dribble shoot!!! lol KM belongs on the bench if she’s not passing and running plays.
Great analysis and I totally agree with you, Mitchell is a very good shooter and has good speed but that is her limit. CC is the floor general and can make Mitchell a star of the game if only she has full trust in CC, and that goes for the rest of the team as well.
Excellent analysis that is spot on!!
Sides was like get w the program or get w the bench. Glad she wised up
Mitchell played within the offense in the second half
Option was bench or the game plan
Nice clips showing exactly what you're talking about, as usual! :)
Thank you for great analysis.
Another gem Carter! Imagine if you were an advisor for the Fever 🔥
The Fever should be taking a look at your videos honestly. Whoever they have as their video analyst has not made an impact.
An intelligent analysis.❤it
Celeste Taylor could have been the firecracker this team needs off the bench, but now, we will never know. Wheeler and Mitchell are playing dinosaur ball (this is how you get the first or second overall pick season for three years kind of play).
They need defense. They should have gave her a shot. Horrible roster management by Dunn
Bro, that sister got to give the ball to CC right away and chill. Same fo Wheeler. We don't need no one on one hocus pokus
What's the difference between kelsey Mitchell and time?????.... TIME PASSES
Great video!!! I learned so much!!💪💪💪💪🔥🔥🔥🔥
You are a smart young man, Great analysis.
Thank you again for helping me learn! Excited for tonight's game.
I think mitchelll will lite it up in the future. She needs to complement cc. Her confidence .......... its touch and go
Your first comment on Mitchell states the whole problem, SHE USED TO BE THE GO TO STAR.
First I hear there may be a coaching opening on the fever. I choose YOu.
Seems like the Indiana fever literally is taking coaching from influencers. It’s crazy.
Great analysis
Great video. Thank you! I love and respect Kelsey but some of the things she does confused me and I didn’t want to reduce her down to a ball hog especially with such improvement from the beginning of the season. If Kelsey can get with CC like Aliyah, Temi, etc. the fever will be play off material
Great info, makes sense. From your mouth to the coach's ears.
Dude you are so good at telling the truth that’s all that matters to me bro you need to be there coach ❤❤❤❤❤
🔥🔥🔥 Nice to see the young generation doing it right. Great analysis my friend, you got mi Like and Subscription on your channel. keep it up bro. 👊🏼👍🏼
Best video in YT about this game man! 👌 I'm subscribing!
KM just need to re-watch and re-watch how Jewel Lloyd played against the fever and learn!
That’s a really quick follow! 😎
This is the best breakdown of the Fever’s lack of use of CC’s talent I’ve seen yet.
Bravo! 👏
Watching youe videos helps me understand the game a lot more! I get it now!
Carter you are very good at your game.
GO FEVER!!!
I knew what you meant. Great analysis as usual, thanks!
This guy is good!…
The fever need you as the coach. Excellent analysis.
Thank you!
Great take little Brother! 💯
Thank you for a lucid, thoughtful analysis.
Man please come on tic tock in these lives I love how you break it down
Awesome analysis! Thanks
First time watching a video from you. Honest opinion. Like your review...
I said the exact thing about Mitchell on another vid this morning. Glad you saw what I did.
Dude you are good, impressive...
Great stuff man ⭐️☕️
I think one thing I (half) disagree with is when you say that KM should just be playing off-ball.
*That* was elite
Just looked it up, it was June 1st against the Sky. At 7:57 from full game highlights
Another gem man. You gotta do one about how poorly they set pics, screens etc. if they learn scrims they will in pack cc scoring power, for another 15 point a game. They will be unstoppable.
Good smart commentary
Very good Carter!!!!
