Congrats on nearly 100k🎉 my agency provider used to advise me to do less Vit C, and 10% lactic acid when my. Tretinoin made me dry. I switched from daily to every other day and it helped a lot. I also use a weekly chemical exfoliator (DE) or otc 5 min. One, and using that helped. Their latest tip was to use an oil ( I use rose hip from The ordinary , once a week in winter ) together they all help . I also bought a mini humidifier for living room & it helps allergies & my plants too ! Thx, hi to Bozley ! ❤
Tamara, Show us your new apartment and please film with a more interesting background. The videos are so much more interesting when you are not just smack dab on a white background.
I have been using the combo of Differin (adapalene) and azelaic acid and it has blown tretinoin out of the water (and that is no exaggeration). I've seen more results with this combo in the last 18 months than I have with tretinoin over 25 years!! And none of the 'side effects' of tret. (for me at least). A derm nurse recommended this to me and I'm so glad I gave it a try. I'm done with tretinoin. I know there are die-hard tret. fans out there, but I thought I'd leave this comment for those who struggle with tret and would like another option.
@@neanea1173, @gretaloop9305, @RAA801, @LJ-xr5th - I use a prescription strength 15% but I would suggest starting with The Ordinary just so you can see if you like the combo. I don't want you to spend a lot of $$. I use the Differin when I get out of the shower and let it sit on my face while I get ready and then put the azelaic over it. I use both on face, neck and chest (something I could not do with tretinoin. You might want to try Differin in the morning and azelaic at night. Test to see what you tolerate. I hope this helps and I hope you like the combo as mush as I do. Good luck!
I'm soooo behind! Now WHY on earth haven't I ever gotten my humidifier out? I have such a dry house!! Love you Tamara...I am dreaming of what your very cute new place looks like for Christmas ;) HYDRATION...such a good tip, off to refill my water jug ;) MERRY CHRISTMAS to you and yours!
A humidifier is a game changer! I loved your Holiday Decor that you shared in your end of year favs...I'm posting an apartment tour tomorrow with a teeny tiny bit of Holiday Decor. Merry Christmas Dear Mary! 😘💕❤️
Oh my goodness, your thumbnail is perfection!! Lots of great tips, and products Tamara. Your skin looks gorgeous without foundation. Nanny is a beautiful woman!! The last several years I quit using any product to cleanse my skin in the morning. I just use water, and a cheap wash cloth. It made my skin much happier. Blessings, and love..MaryEllen
Good Sunday morning! I too love the Drmtlgy Soothe & Recovery cream. It is so lovely and is great under my makeup. Nanny also reintroduced me to Nivea. I love it as a thick, protective layer especially in the cold , dry winter months. Have a beautiful week ahead and thank you for all of your honest, informative content.💖💄
Thank you Bobbie! It's surprising how well the Soothe and Recovery Cream works under makeup. I think Nanny has made Nivea popular again! Have a great week! ❤️
Hi Tamara. What a great idea to get a humidifier to run at night. I'm going to do just that! My Agency Tretinoin definitely makes my face drier during the winter. I have found two new favorites lately to help with my extra dry skin: the essence, TW-Real Bifida Ampoule as layer number one after cleansing my skin at night, and the Illiyoon Ceramide Ato Concentrate Cream (both from Amazon) as a final layer. And sometimes I will add the Cerave Healing ointment on top of that. I just received the Agency's SPF for the first time last week and I love it! Thanks the heads up a few weeks ago!
You were the one that reminded me to pull the Agency SPF out again and I have been loving it as well! And thank you for sharing YOUR tips! Have a great week Sallie! ❤️
I was relieved that your red faced thumbnail was for illustration purposes only-or was that a real photo of you after a laser peel? I did not have luck with Agency as their formulation just irritated my skin more than anything I’ve ever tried including straight up tretinoin. However, I’ve got a tretinoin script from the doctor to try again after more than a decade from my first failed attempt. I’m about to get treatment two of 3 “Cool Laser Peel” and when they’re finished and I’m all healed, I will certainly refer back to this video to try to get the Vitamin A going in the least irritating manner. You are always very helpful.
I didn't think of pulling out my laser photos...the thumbnail redness was all blush LOL. How exciting to be on your third Cool Laser Peel! I'm envious! Have a great week Barbara! ❤️
Good question! The Agency SPF tint is a little lighter and less warm than the DRMTLGY ones. As far as the formula, I think it falls somewhere between the DRMTLGY Physical Tinted and the DRMTLGY Universal Tinted Moisturizer. The Physical. Tinted Mositurizer has a bit more coverage and is a little thicker and shinier. The DRMTLGY Universl Tinted Moisturizer is a tad lighter in texture...more gel like. The Agency has a bit of a dimethicone feeling to it, but not in a bad way. It feels protective but not heavy. Hope this helps!
I'm surprised your email comment about unsubscribing is not posted here. Actually, I'm not subscribed at the moment. It just feels like QVC when so many beauty youtubers constantly promote products. Just my humble opinion.
I use Agency and love it. I’m 70 and have used it for a few years. The change in my skin is remarkable. I also use their Cloud Care cream oil cleanser and whipped moisturizer which I like. I will be ordering their SPF. I Al so live in upstate N.Y. and find that using a thicker moisturizer and applying more frequently is all I need to do in the winter.
Agency makes some amazing products! If I didn't have a channel and want to try other products Agency would be pretty much all I need. I hope you enjoy the SPF as much as I do! Stay warm! ❤️
Hi Tamara ! Thank you for all the tips with the tretinoin . I use a milky serum by Mary Kay designed to use after a retinol . I’m fortunate that I live in Florida and there is a lot of humidity , it’s nice for the skin but nothing else ! I’d like to try that lipid gold you mentioned . Have a great week ❤️💚
I have been using straight Tretinoin from the tube. I use a light moisturizer underneath to avoid dryness. The Tretinoin does not spread very easily. Can I add a moisturizer to the Tretinoin to make it more spreadable and also less irritating? Is Agency a blend of Tretinoin and other ingredients?
Mixing Tret with moisturizer is a great way to help the spread and with irritation. Agency Future Formula contains 3 other actives in addition to tret which can help buffer against irritation. The actives will depend upon your medical consult. Also contains hydrators such as triglyceride and dexpanthenol.
Great tips Tamara! My skin has become drier this season and I've had to start adding in the Purito moisturiser to my evening skincare on occasions. PS the TN made me smile 😃
Last winter my mini humidifier clogged up our furnace filter. This season we are having a humidifier installed into the furnace professionally (Merry Christmas to us LOL). I have been using an essential oil diffuser next to my bed at night for some added moisture. During The Ordinary Slovember sale I grabbed their new moisturizer for drier skin which I use at night. It is working for me, but I will need to slug with petrolatum when winter gets colder and drier.
Thank you for all the effort that goes into your videos. Thanks to you, I am trying Stratia Lipid Gold. I like the texture and would love to use it regularly, but OMG the smell is so awful! Like dead fish, not like seaweed, but dead fish. How do you get past that? I've tried mixing it with another moisturizer, but think I won't get its benefits as much that way. Any suggestions?
this year I have developed eyelid eczema on my one eyelid the only thing that seems to keep it under some control is La Roche Posay's Gentle foaming cleaning oil for cleaning my face and La Roche Posay's Lipikar AP+m Triple Repair Moisturizing Cream. Not happy they are not cruelty free but it works. I also use Gold Bond's Eczema cream during the day as you can get it in a smaller tube so I keep that at my desk at work. I HATE winter's here in the northeast. I am ready for spring lol
Hi Tamara. Such an informative video. Thank you! I have been using organic Castor oil on my face and can’t believe the results! Especially under the eyes! Wow! I hope you will give it a try. If you do I hope you’ll do a video on it! Castor oil is such a gem for so many things!!
What is the brand of castor oil that you use Kelly and does it sink in as I would think it would stain the pillow case at night ? Castor oil is so thick .
I should have mentioned that there are certain areas of the face that are more sensitive to Tretinoin. I can't use it near the corners of my mouth or chin...instant derrmatitis! I will sometimes pre treat that area with an occlusive cream or even vaseline to prevent the tret from drifting onto that area. Hope this helps!
Excellent tips Tamara. You're the one who got me started watching Nanny and Moosie and I thank you. They are so entertaining! Yes I slug with Nivea and Vaseline. Humidifier helps my skin and post nasal drip/stuffy nose I get in winter. Recently started using La Roche Posay Eczema Soothing Relief Cream. Can apply on body, hands and face. It does help. Dry skin can be itchy and irritated. I believe it has colloidal oatmeal in it. Hope you have a great wk. I know you're gonna reach that milestone soon🎉
I have to admit that I finally switched to a creamy cleanser which has helped my dry skin. I love the ELF facial oil. I use Vasoline on my face all the time. I need to consider Agency. Thank you for all the great tips.
Thank you for covering this. My skin is too sensitive for tret. I’ve tried so many times and just end up with a peely mess after one day. I’ve had to step down to retinal but still I get super dry. It’s helpful to know you can back off and still get results. I really can only tolerate it a couple times a week. I always wondered if I was wasting my time.
Yes, that indoor dry heat really dries the skin. Even when it's damp outside, we tend to stay indoors where it is warm, and the dry heat wins out. Are you going to have to vamp up your winter moisture even more now that your are in a new area?
Actually, the climate here in upstate New York is a bit milder than Minnesota...so far no snowm, only rain. So still some humidity in the air. But I still need richer moisturizers in the winter. The products mentioned in the video are the ones I am currently using.
I’m so glad you covered this topic today. For the past 4 or 5 days I’ve been peeling/flaking all over my face. I tried exfoliating but then I read that can make it worse. Now I’m just using a moisturizer & sunscreen. It’s probably because of the tret so I haven’t used it for a few days.. I’m going to try your tips about cutting back & also putting a moisturizer on first. Is any type of facial moisturizer ok do you think?
Yes, any moisturizer should work for the sandwich method. I would let the moisturizer absorb a bit before applying the tret. And reducing frequency will help as well. For most of the year I only use tret about 5 times a week...sometmes 3 or 4 times a week in winter. Exfoliation can help remove flaking as well (but not if the skin is actually irritated) Once or twice a week (on my non tret nights) I use an exfoliating mask such as Drunk Elephant Sukari Baby Facial or DRMTLGY Pumpkin Enzyme mask. You can also try a Lactic Acid serum in the morning. The Ordinary makes a good one. Lactic Acid is quite gentle and is actually a humectant so it can gently exfoliate without irritation or dryness. Hope this helps!
It takes a month, or more to get used to Tretinoin, AND remember you can use moisturizer two times a day (or more if needed). Tap the tiniest amount (so much so you may feel you aren't adding any at all) of Tretinoin each night for the first month. Put petroleum jelly around/on lips, nose, eyes so that Tretinoin doesn't get in those spots. Consistency is key with Tret.
I like the DRMTLGY Recovery cream too. Just took a new tube out from their BF sale. I use their Peptide cream, but it’s getting to be so pricey, even on sale. 😕 I’ll be using up what I have, and looking for a more affordable replacement. I just started using the COSRX 6X Peptide Collagen Booster Toner Serum. So far it’s nice, and hydrating, and seems to absorb well. Then will put my face cream over it. I’ll never give up the Sukoyaka Suhada Urea Toner, been using it for a few years, and all year round since I live in a desert climate. I use an eye cream that’s very hydrating, Benton Fermentation Eye Cream, and will sometimes top it with Sukoyaka Suhada Urea Moisturing Eye Cream, in the winter months. My skincare is constantly evolving, and really have been liking more Korean brands. They use quality ingredients, and so far very affordable. Hope you’re getting settled into your new place, and hoping Bosley likes it too ! 🥰🥰
Sounds like you have found some great products! Thank you for sharing. Bozlee loves our new place...he follows the sun around and naps in the sun like a cat. Have a great week Debbie!
Tamara thanks for your tips. I have had to go to once a week for my full face - avoiding certain areas altogether with my Agency Tretinoin. Even in the summer my skin gets flaky and it always looks like I am shedding! I can still do my neck and chest but put my creams on first. I do the tip top part of my nose, my cheeks and my forehead twice a week but just a tiny bit. I avoid my jawline, near the edges of my nose and the underside of my jaw altogether. I use a Retinal serum and other things to help with antiaging but even after all these years have issues with Tretinoin. Pretty much everything you mention I use. Thank you so much for your advice.
I should have mentioned exfoliation in the video. A chemical exfoliant can help reduce flaking...when I first tried Pixi Glow tonic years ago it made a huge difference (started with once a week in the am and built up to 3 or 4 times a week) Now I sometime use the Ordinary Lactic Acid Serum in the morning but also love an exfoliating treatment mask once or twice a week in the evening (on non tret eves). Some of my favs include DE Sukari Baby Facial, DRMTLGY Pumpkin Enzyme Mask and Bay Harbor Beauty Pumkin Enzyme mask. Aways do a patch test and start with just a few minutes to see how your skin reacts. I like to follow with a hydrating sheet mask and a very rich cream. Hope this helps!
I will try one of those. I sometimes think my skin is odd. Use to be very oily, then oily now normal. When it was super oily my dermatologist put me on Tretinoin ( back in the late 80's) and it was still too rough on my skin to ever use everyday or on certain areas. Oh an by the way so exciting that you are nearly at 100K!
Love Nanny & The Moose! My skin is not nearly that dry, but I HAVE started a new skincare routine over the past 5 years. I turned 55 this year and what a difference in my menopausal skin! Ick. I went from super oily to struggling to balance sort of oily and sort of dry skin. I never thought I would own so many moisturizing products because I assumed oily skin didn’t need it. Wrong. I have always been a huge water drinker and always use a humidifier so I feel my skin has aged quite well, not to mention good genes. My dad will be 80 next June and you would never guess it. Thanks for these great tips!!
Well it’s all working because your skin is beautiful Tamara. You are gorgeous. I enjoyed this so much. Have a blessed week. ♥️♥️♥️
Thank you so much Melissa! xoxo ❤️

@@TamarasTimelessBeauty I thought I spelled Bozlee wrong. 😂 Funny how some dogs love to nap in the sun. We had one that did the same thing. 🥰

@@neanea1173 I have been on the patch for 18 months. Love it!
We adore Nanny! Lucky you with oily skin and good genes! It's crazy how our skin changes...sounds like you have found what works for you! ❤️
