We would wear overalls and flannel shirt jeans we dressed more modest in school short dresses and skirts like that got you sent home with a warning for not following the dress code
only girls that wanted attention from boys would wear super short dresses and act like they were better than others at least where I grew up that was the case
People have some delusion that they are better than others even though we are all the same
