  • Do you know how children benefit from swing play?
Learn how swings help children with special needs and children who need occupational therapy/physical therapy.
Hey guys I’m here to talk to you today about why swings are important. I hung up a couple of swings to show you my favorites.
This one is absolutely my favorite because it gives you a lot of deep pressure, it gives you a lot of squeezes. It’s really calming, it’s a fan favorite. You can also get a lot of vestibular input. So what swings provide the most of back and forth, side to side, and this one can also spin. So when you’re working with swings, you want to make sure that you’re going in every direction. Spinning, back and forth, side to side, and diagonal. So this one gives you all of it. You can push, it has resistance so you’re getting that deep pressure through your joints. You’re also getting squeezed through your skin and you’re getting input from your inner ear.
My next one is the platform swing. This is also a fan favorite. I like to use this one to work on your posture. Coming up and coming down like superman. I also like to use this one for hand eye coordination. Throwing stuff into a target. Kids love it. Can use this one for balance as well. Up on your knees, or even standing. Some people get really daring. It’s also really good for what we call, postural reaction. So if you’re swinging and you’re trying to hold your balance. It’s really good and helps with safety when kids fall.
For my last one, tire swing. This one is my favorite also because it spins really fast and you can have kids push you or you can push them. You can play bumper cars, and you can again work on the posture and the hand eye coordination. That’s all for today, thank you!
