    This was a great video. I have seen several videos that paint Lake Oswego in a not so great light (everyone has aright to their opinion) without really living here. We moved here in 2018 and were blown away by all the things you mentioned as well as agree with the cons you shared. Couple of pros to add would be the Farmer's Market at Millennial Park and the strength of the small town community next to a big city. During the ice storm we had a fellow resident come by and drop off firewood to help us out. I saw a another offer their property for animals affected by the fall fires of 2020. I have seen many examples like this. In relation to your comment on affordability being relative to where you are coming from.....I was talking to some parents at our preschool and they were asking why we chose Lake Oswego to purchase our condo, I said the prices were affordable and they all were cracking up saying they never heard anyone say that about LO hahaha. We moved here from the Bay Area so from our perspective it was waaaayyyyycheaper :) We miss family and friends a lot but absolutely love it here and feel we made the best choice for our little family

      So glad you enjoyed it! We loving living here as well. You bring up some great points for other pros of living in Lake Oswego. Check out our other video on Lake Oswego where we mention the farmers market and some other great pros. Honestly, there are so many great reasons to love living here. The small community aspect is so on point. It's hard to convey that in a video. We had the same experience during last years ice storm. One of your neighbors brought us some firewood, we have a text thread with all the neighbors on it for emergencies or updates. It's so nice to know there are people around you that care and are watching out for you.
      If I can ever be of help to you, just let me know! I also have a resource on local tradesmen if you need any maintenance.

    I lived right next to the millennium park several years ago, amazing town to live in. The George Rogers park on the river is a beautiful place to walk and hang out. The fall in lake Oswego is absolutely gorgeous. My experience was people in Portland looked at Lake Oswego as being very snobbish, just from my experience. I got many negative comments when I told people I lived in Lake Oswego.

      Hi Audie, my wife loves the fall the most as well. It is very beautiful with all of the trees here and the reflections off the water. I think my favorite is the spring when everything really explodes back to life and the butterflies are fluttering around again. I've never experienced people giving me negative comments for living in LO, I think after the Pandemic people had a new appreciation for having a little more space which you get in Lake Oswego. I'm not sure when you lived here but I feel it's also changing and I'm seeing more young people walking around downtown LO

    You guys are adorable. You use "SUPER" LOL. Which is a pro. I live in a very quaint and artsy Ashland, OR. Shakespeare theatre and ppl that come frm around world is fun. Last 3 yrs so much smoke for summer months has been awful. So I'm single retired veteran and because of PTSD I no longer can deal with congested cities. The pro I think that's big I need an airport hub easy flights London, New York ect. Any suggestions what apts are great downtown, good walkability. Another thing do you need air-condition, most apts don't have. Thanks video very informative. jules

      Hi Jules! Thank you for the compliment, it's great to hear the video was helpful to you!
      I love Ashland! Sorry to hear it's been so smoky the last 3 summers. Are you thinking of moving to Portland or Lake Oswego? What is your email? mine is aaron@aaroncullen.com I would definitely recommend buying a portable A/C that wheels around if your apartment does not have AC. I lot of people do that here in the older buildings.
      We only handle the buying and selling of real estate but I can definitely help give you some direction if you are looking to rent.

    We found a cute house in Lake Oswego which is almost in our budget. We are selling our LA house and we currently live in Hawaii. I think this area could work for us, just not sure about traffic into Portland from Lake Oswego. What’s the commute into downtown Portland or into Beaverton from Lake Oswego? Thanks on any insight! 🤙

      Hi David! The traffic from Lake Oswego to Portland is NOT a problem at all. It's only 9 miles and there are two main routes, the 43 and the 5. It takes me about 20mins on average. Lake Oswego to Beaverton is not bad either, it's about the same + or - 5 minutes depending on time of day.
      Give me a call so I can help negotiate a lower price for that cute Lake Oswego home 🙌 I'd love to help when you are ready!

    I grew up with family living on the main lake in the middle and the train across the street. I spent many nights waking up to hearing the train and when my mom and I moved to N Mississippi St at the end across from the train I was given a sense of safety and continuity of the train. As a native and someone who has family history in Lake Oswego it’s hard for me to support your main message of bringing more exorbitant wealth to a community so close to a city with long ties to an imbalance in wealth. It scares me to see more wealth come to our community without the purpose of giving back to neighboring community’s that are truly struggling with houselessness and financial segregation in PPS based on the schools population % of race and I/DD (intellectually/ developmentally disabled or neurodivergent) individuals.
    If you want to do right by the Multnomah/Clackamas County community start getting involved in Community Action to make affordable housing a priority in Lake Oswego. So Portland can start to home and treat the addiction and houseless traumas that plague our community. Before you know it you will have tents on your sidewalks not just people going through your recycling to survive. Just a new point of perspective 😊

    • @movingtoportlandoregon
      @movingtoportlandoregon  Год назад

      Hi Grace, thanks for watching and I commend you on your social work for the community. We definitely need more affordable housing for people in need. My main message is to show what it's like to live in communities around Portland. To help people find a home and community that's the best fit for them. Specifically people needing to relocate to Portland. Everyone deserves housing and to feel safe where they live. Affordable housing is a very complicated issue in our country with our current system. No one person can solve it but you are right we can all make a difference. I have several rentals I provide to low income families. Also, LO is making progress in trying to develop projects. Lake Oswego just approved a project with the Sisters of the Holy Names to add 100 affordable housing units to the local community. You can see about the project here.

    I think the lack of diversity is seen as a positive and is one of the reasons why folks want to move to Lake Oswego.

    • @movingtoportlandoregon
      @movingtoportlandoregon  Год назад

      I don't think so and from my experience Lake Oswego is becoming more diverse. All of my neighbors see that as a positive change. Just look at our current city council. It's very diverse.

    • @rheinamacher1990
      @rheinamacher1990 Год назад

      @@movingtoportlandoregon I was referring to socio-economic diversity, but I guess a small part of racial diversity, but not so much as maybe ten or twenty years ago. Folks don't want to move next to Section 8 housing, and it is a part of the reason why home prices are keep rising, which is to keep the average Lake Oswego family to being middle to upper-middle class.
