Organized by the Sri Lankan Professional Network - Canada.
Here are some reasons why you should, if at all go to networking events as immigrants.
Community Integration: Networking events provide opportunities for new immigrants to connect with others from similar backgrounds, fostering a sense of community and belonging in their new environment.
Professional Development: Immigrants can utilize networking events to learn about job opportunities, career advancement strategies, and industry-specific insights, which can be especially valuable in navigating unfamiliar job markets.
Cultural Exchange: These events facilitate cultural exchange between each other and individuals from diverse backgrounds, promoting understanding and appreciation of different cultures.
Business Opportunities: Networking events offer a platform for Sri Lankan entrepreneurs and professionals to showcase their skills, products, and services, potentially leading to business partnerships, collaborations, or client acquisitions.
Social Support: Building relationships at networking events can provide emotional support and guidance, helping Sri Lankan immigrants navigate the challenges of adjusting to a new country, culture, and lifestyle.
Access to Resources: Leverage networking events to gain access to resources such as information about housing, education, healthcare, legal assistance, and other essential services, which can be particularly helpful during the settlement process.
Professional Mentoring:Find mentors or advisors at networking events who can offer insights, guidance, and support tailored to their career goals and aspirations, helping them navigate the professional landscape more effectively.
Engagement: Participation in networking events can encourage to become more engaged in local communities, whether through volunteering, advocacy, or political participation, fostering a sense of civic responsibility and empowerment.
Cultural Preservation: By networking with fellow Sri Lankans and sharing traditions, language, and customs, immigrants can contribute to the preservation and promotion of Sri Lankan culture in their new homeland, ensuring its continuity for future generations.

Yes it is! You could join in too. Check out the Group/ Network on LinkedIn. There was a preferred contribution but I suppose it differs from event to event.
