Just bought this radio as part of a package w/ a hotspot from Bridgecom. Being a ham for the past 15 or so years, this radio and system (DMR) has me more interested in ham radio than ever before. Since there are no DMR repeaters in my area (and almost zero traffic on analog) the hot spot has allowed me to make contact with people in North America, Europe, Ukraine, Moldova, UK, South America, etc. in just the past week or so. Amazing radio...amazing system.
Great video on the anytone 878. Was thinking of getting one ,and now I'm convinced because of your video. I have my Amature radio license and GMRS license and was always interested in DMR. Thanks
Thanks for taking the time to record and upload this video. I am an OM (W3GLQ) who is considering getting into DMR. I am thinking about asking for the Anytone 878UV for a birthday present. Your clear and concise presentation along with the demos of making contacts were helpful to me. Good luck in DMR and 73.
Great review!!! I purchased a Anytone 868 a few weeks ago and finally up and running. Using a MMDVM Hotspot at home and have a MMDVM Hotspot in the truck. The only aggravating thing I found out was there was a BIG learning curve for me on the CPS software. Then another learning curve for me was DMR basics. I still don't know hardly anything about DMR but I am learning. I went ahead and ordered the Anytone 878 from Bridgecom and it should be here today, May 5th, 2020. I am liking this more and more. Right now trying to figure out the APRS stuff. Again thanks for doing your review!! Found it very useful. Juddie WD8WV
Thanks juddie! I'm still learning too. I've been using a repeater to access dmr until now but I have a jumbo spot coming in the mail today. Maybe we'll connect on dmr at some point soon
I have the radio and the SkyBridge Plus hotspot arriving tomorrow. Hope I can figure it all out. DMR seems to have a steep learning curve but I have a good Elmer KA2A. Fingers crossed.

Hello I purchased an AnyTone Radio model AT-D878S and cannot find the programming for it anywhere. Only AT-D878UV. I tried to use the link in my manual but it pulled up a 404. The latest firmware version on the radio is 1.17. Can you please help me?
There are tons of youtube videos on this radio. Check the HamRadio 2.0 channel and the Smokin Apre channel - I think they have detailed tutorials on this radio
Thanks for the video. Not exactly related but I had an issue with the audio sporadically cutting out on analog stations as if the squelch was set too high. Come to find out I had to set the squelch tail elimination to off. In the CPS under "Optional Settings" and the "STE" tab, turn "STE When No Signal" to "off". Fran - N1PFJ
Thanks so much for the excellent demo for DMR radio. I have been looking for a demo of a live contact for a long time. I am in Brandon Mississippi and as far as I know there are no DMR repeaters in my area. I am considering the Bridgecom system both a HT and a radio for the car. I think I will opt for the current anytone HT and the hot spot nd have them make it plug and play. Later after I have become used to the DMR mode I will put one of their mobile radios in the car. For years I have worked mobile on HF and vhf/uhf but when the last sun spot cycle died Mobile HF was difficult at the most and UHF/VHF has become more like eleven meters when it is active. Most of the time I cam not get anyone to answer any of the several repeaters here in my area. Thanks again for the great video. Make some more when you get time. 73 Ronnie Martin WB4MYO
Great review, thanks for posting it. I’m in west Hartford, so it helps when you talk about local repeaters. I got a D74 to hit the DSTAR repeaters around here, but found there’s more DMR traffic. I’ll be getting this radio when Bridgecom has another sale. Hope to meet you on the local towers someday. 73s, Mike K1MPR
