So glad to see someone not completely shit on cyberpunk for being buggy. Graphical and performance issues aside, It’s such an entertaining timesink. I haven’t played anything that gives me the feeling of “oh shit it’s 3:00am and I have to be at work in a few hours” since playing Divinity Original Sin 2 but MAN it is such a great game.
Nah man for me personally bugs aside. The world is dead and so uninterative, gunplay is janky and dull, driving sucks, customisation sucks and looter shooter style weapons suck too. Im glad you got your moneys worth man but this is deffinately not what i was wanting out of CP
Lovely videos as per usual. Some really solid picks. Glad you gave a shoutout to Astros Playroom, Dreams and Bugsnax. However: Nioh didn't have any competition in 2017 he says. Yeah only Breath of the Wild, Persona 5, Gravity Rush 2, Horizon Zero Dawn, Cuphead, Nier Automata, Hollowknight, Mario Odyssey, a Hat in Time, Divinity 2, What Remains of Edith Finch, Resident Evil 7, Pyre, Sonic Mania, Prey and Hellblade.. The madlad!
Honestly despite everything I hardly care for it. The cops ai is cripplingly bad and the lack of basic features that are in other games of this genre is just really frustrating.
@@Blarglesnarfe please do not spoild any ending stuff for me, but personally my choices have felt like they matter so far. The lifepaths have minor dialogue choices so they aren’t major, but honestly I never expected anything else from those. Other than that I’ve had missions play out completely different for me than they have for a friend. For example my friend (SPOILER) had Takemura die when you get raided because he decided to leave straight away, whereas I wondered if going back to the area would mean I could help him and I end up saving him because of a decision the game didn’t even tell me was an option. That’s one example but we’ve already had lots of different endings for sidequests and gigs as well. Either way based on the differences in our play through it definitely feels like my choices have mattered so far. Edit: I’ve also had my stats unlock dialogue choices that have changed quest outcomes.
Great list! You're one of my favorite video game channels. I also greatly appreciate your LOU2 take, it feels refreshing to hear. It feels like I haven't encountered somebody who likes the game in a while
I've watched a lot of let's plays of TLoU2 and all of them really liked it or at least appreciated what Neil Druckmann/Naughty Dog tried to do. I'm glad Albino is one of them 👍
Add one more to the list... It may be my favorite game of all-time! From everything from the story to the explicit realistic violence, it was a home run in my book!
I don't even listen to the ppl who don't like it tbh I respect there opinions...but cmon fan of ND to fan of ND, they couldn't come up with a logical point as to why if it head kicked them
Skyrim fr was one of the glitchiest games I have ever played and platinumed, I don't have a way to play Cyberpunk but I'd give it a try even with all the bugs.
Final Fantasy 7 remake was by far my game of the year, it adds so much to the world of Midgar and I really can’t wait for part 2, I got so hooked to those characters all over again
I was looking for switch games to gift to my sister (who isnt really a gamer) for christmas and remembered Ori as something she might like and now I'm stuck here playing it myself, because I wanted to try it first before buying it for her :D
Idk anytime you say you didnt even finish the game but still put it on a tops list just doesnt make any sense to me... game obviously wasn't that good if you couldn't even take time to beat it...
I love your top 10(20) lists. I’ve discovered a lot of my favorite games from them, despite being exclusively an Xbox player. Would have never given Slay the Spire a try if it weren’t for you, or been interested in Souls-like games enough to give Salt & Sanctuary a try. Looking forward to diving into the second Ori game in the new year!
Cyberpunk is a truly amazing game and I am genuinely sad that so many people couldn’t experience properly because of poor performance on consoles. Hopefully it will find new life in post launch patches.
"The original Nei was my game of they year 2017 aprtly because it had little competition" ?! BOTW, Mario Oddysey Nier, Persona 5, Horizon, Xenoblade 2 and I probably forgot some.
Have these in my sights, but I first want to play yakuza 6 before 1 move on to like a dragon. I played Yakuza 1-5 already on the ps3 and 0 and kiwami 2 on PC
@@megamanx1291 Well whats good about it is that you don't really have to know anything about the previous games to play Like a Dragon. Obviously it'll help kind of settup the lore a bit better but I played it without ever playing another Yakuza.
Great vid, love your attitude, don't agree with your TLOU comments or you Cyberpunk comments but that's not really important. It has been a Great year for gaming. I took the time to try older games I'd overlooked and lost myself in Days Gone, Bloodborne, AC Origins, God of War. Loving Astro and looking forward to Miles Moralis and Daemon's Souls over Christmas. Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas And an Happy New Year to all
Did you really just imply that you didn't like TLOU2 without feeling the need to insult the people who do? Holy shit, you are an anomaly, and I appreciate you for that.
honestly yeah. I hesitate to count it since it's technically just a rerelease but I have yet to play anything that came out this year that's surpassed it in any capacity
I tried playing it in 2011 on my Wii. It didn't grab me at all. Can you elaborate what you like so much about it? I see lots of mentions of it regarding the game a masterpiece but those first four to five hours didn't pull me in.
@@ducksauce2696 for me it was the excellent ambitious story and world-building, the very likable cast of characters, the phenomenal soundtrack, and the simple and accessible yet very fun gameplay. I def understand why some might find it slow in the beginning but there are a ton of story beats, particularly in the latter half of the game, that kept me interested
@@iamnotascientisi I have the soundtrack and I agree it's excellent. The story I can not comment on since I didn't complete the game. However, the dreadful voiceacting, writing and constantly repeating voicelines made me want to slice off my own ears with a paperguillotine. That's the primairy reason I stopped bothering after 5 hours.
@Bano Plaze The environments looks great. Good sense of scale and colourful. Combat felt a bit like baby's first DND: target to auto attack and pick special ability when ready.
Loved Demon's Souls but ultimately it is the same game with the same problems and underwhelming design. It's combat is also too simple, just as the original game's was. Visually speaking tho, that shit slaps.
Doom Eternal, Final Fantasy VII Remake, and The Last of Us Part 2 were great games this year I'm playing Immortals: Fenyx Rising and have so far freed three of the four gods and I agree with it being underrated and needs better loving than what it's getting! I agree with you on Cyberpunk 2077 which is also my 2020 game of the year! Despite some glitches I've experienced on CP2077 here and there it for the overall standard ran and played beautifully on my Predator Helios 300! Out of my 172 hours playing CP2077 the invisible weapon only happened once and the game only crashed on me once! Yesterday was my three week anniversary that I 100%ed CP2077 making it my fifth Perfect Game on Steam! Great video and amazing list with several amazing games!
I played fairy tail, hades, ghost of Tsushima and cyberpunk but the best games I played this year were still bloodborne and the Witcher 3, despite having finished each a huge number of times.
I have Cyberpunk 2077 on base ps4 and it’s still extremely fun. The bugs are literally my only problem with it, but nothing game-breaking has happened yet.
My biggest problem is the horrible ai, including cops but mainly the robotic npcs in the open world that have one line of dialogue and are stuck in the same animation loop
Love cyberpunk our I stopped playing cyberpunk because there’s so many bugs going on with the gigs and side missions that I don’t wanna lock myself out of platinum
Hades was my GOTY and it wasn't even close. It's incredible how fluid and fun this game is. I've been playing since early access and I haven't been bored for one second out of the 130 hours I've put in so far.
Wow finally someone not destroying cyberpunk for its glitches, thank you man. I'm loving it too almost 45 hours and just not putting it down. Melee is the fucking way to go though it's so sick!
i like this list but id probably put the last of us 2 as my 2020 game of the year, one of the only games ive ever played that actually made me just feel every emotion, amazing game and amazing character development until the very last second,I had no idea people even hated on the game, makes no sense to me, it has everything you could want in a game and then some!!!!
I'd agree for cyberpunk as well if the bugs didn't completely ruin it for me, yeah they'll mostly be fixed by the time the next game awards show up, yeah the game has many great qualities such as the looks and the sounds and the music. Yeah the game has a lot of content to keep you playing but in the end after a collective 15 hours of playing I just couldn't play any more because my save file was corrupted and lost all my progress after pushing through the numerous bugs and crashes. CD should have spent more time on this game instead of releasing it unpolished. You know... the thing they said they wouldn't do.
Regardless of bugs it’s wild to see cyberpunk that high anywhere. This game isn’t finished lmao. There’s clearly cut content. Plots not really followed through on. Weeks worth of drab ass missions that take less time to complete than to travel to. Your life paths account for about an hour of time played at the beginning and a couple dialogue choices. Very disappointing. The game is stripped down just to be released broken.
I think I only played 2 games from this list, them being Cyberpunk and FF7R and I'd boot one of those off the list without a second thought ... not Cyberpunk tho. As far as I can remember FF7 remake is the most annoying game I've played since the end of the PS3 era and I really regret spending 70 bucks on it.
Yeah the audience vote section I was specifically talking about that calculated the overall population's favorite game of the year in real time rigged the second place vote uh huh yep

It’s nice to see somebody acknowledging just how good of a game cyberpunk actually is despite all the technical issues it has.
I concur. Bugs be damned, I’m having a GREAT time in Night City.
